KATHERINE HEIGL IN OUR HOUSE!
In the slate of new multicam sitcoms with biracial couples as leads, the biggest one is OUR HOUSE also over at CBS which has just cast Katherine
Heigl as lead opposite Malcolm Barrett. The story follows a devoted dad, Shawn (Barrett), and mom, Bridget (Heigl), who are committed to raising their children with the love and support the mom never got as a kid but discover how difficult that is with her insane parents and siblings back in the picture. Heigl’s Bridget tries her best to be a laid back, progressive parent like her therapist husband, but often finds herself reverting to the old school style of her parents. Now that she’s moved back into her childhood home, surrounded by her parents and crazy siblings, finding a balance between these wildly different parenting styles is going to be more difficult than she imagined.
This will be Katherine's first sitcom ever! |
UNITED WE FALL AT ABC
Rival ABC has tied Will Sasso and Christina Vidal as leads of their new sitcom UNITED WE FALL a profoundly realistic, multicultural comedy that shows how, when two people, Bill (Sasso) and Jo (Vidal) with young children
and overzealous extended families truly love each other, barely
anything is possible. I've already told you that Jane Curtin will play
Bill's difficult mother and Jason Michael Snow Bill's brother!

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
I've also told you that CBS has cast Briga Heelan and Michael Angarano in TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN a hybrid sitcom which centres on Evan (Angarano) who, with the help of his group of friends, sets out to accomplish a
list of challenges he wrote for himself years ago in an
effort to turn around his banal life. Raymond Ablack, Michael Cassidy,
Taylor Dearden and Ana VillafaƱe have joined the comedy as his friends.
This one will also have a biracial couple as Ablack will play Briga's
boyfriend.

I guess I'm just getting old and crabby but I find many sitcoms to be tiresome.
ReplyDeleteI find them the light and happiness of life, I don't think I could survive this world without a weekly dose of them, especially multicams!
DeleteWell, here we come ready with smiles and laughter to welcome the new sitcoms.
ReplyDeleteTwo of the above offerings appeal to me in particular: 'Merry, Happy, Whatever' and 'Uninsured'. That's because we're familiar with most of the issues dealt with. We are not new to the holiday tension, to over protective fathers and strong-willed daughters (Mery, Happy, Whatever).
Young parents ending up taking care of their old parents (Uninsured) is also common subject, albeit from the medical point of view not financial one.
Let's hope these sitcoms (dialogues and casting) won't disappoint.
All of these are, sadly, just pilots for now, which means they are getting just a trial first episode to see if they will work well. All except Merry Happy Whatever, that one got a series order right away :)
DeleteI am always up for more comedies in my life. Merry Happy Whatever would be my top pick. Even though I don't care for Heigl as a person, I have liked some of her comedies in the past, so I'd give Our House a peek to see if it could stick.
ReplyDeleteOur House will be very interesting to see as her husband will be black. I don't think we've had that before in sitcoms, other than in Fam but that was with Nina Dobrev who looks quite Latino. It seems they will be going for biracial couples in almost all new comedies.
