Comedy Friday today, people, to end your week with some fun topics! After her return to Stars Hollow in Gilmore Girls event series, it seems Lauren Graham will stay in comedy waters on the small screens since, as Deadline reports, she has just taken the lead role in Fox single camera comedy series LINDA FROM HR! The new series centres on the eponymous heroine, Linda Plugh (Graham). All it takes is one bad decision to throw Linda from HR’s monotonous, unfulfilled life into an exciting but dangerous tailspin of balancing work life, home life and a secret that could unravel everything. She recently starred in Matthew Perry's The Odd Couple sitcom as well!

DYLAN MCDERMOTT TO LEAD

'LA - > VEGAS' COMEDY
Also overt at Fox, they have found their lead actor for new single camera comedy series LA - > VEGAS in Dylan McDermott! The comedy is set on the Friday night flight from LAX to Vegas and the returning flight on Sunday. It is about a group of underdogs trying to find their place in the world who all share the same goal: to come back a winner in the casino of life. McDermott will play the pilot on Flight 1710, Captain Dave, cocky but also a baby, a likeable narcissist who feels connecting with his passengers is just as important as flying the plane.
'SPACED OUT' NBC SITCOM
Meanwhile, the creators of NBC's beloved sitcom Undateables are returning to the same network with new single camera comedy series SPACED OUT a workplace comedy that centres on a working class genius and his struggles to fit in with an established team — all made more difficult when their job is building a rocket to Mars. Brett Goldstein is the first one to be cast in the new series as Leon Ness, the brilliant, eccentric and unpredictable founder of Space One, a man who dreams big and never gives up!

'IMAGINARY MARY' 

JENNA ELFMAN TV COMEDY

Meanwhile, a series that has already been shot and is ready for the launch of its first season over at ABC is hybrid comedy sitcom IMAGINARY MARY which will air its sneak peak on March 29th and then continue with regular premiere on April 4th!  A mix of live action scripted comedy series and CGI elements it will see Jenna Elfman leading the thirteen episode first season run! The series has been postponed a few times since ABC needed time to improve and enhance the CGI elements (Mary's imaginary friend is CGI animated!

UNHINGED IMAGINARY FRIENDS  
Imaginary Mary centres on Alice (Jenna Elfman), a fiercely independent career woman whose life is turned upside down when she meets the love of her life – a divorced father (Stephen Schneider) with three kids. This triggers even more upheaval when the slightly unhinged imaginary friend she created as a child suddenly reappears to help her navigate the transition from single girl to a woman ready for a family.

'MUTE' WITH ALEXANDER SKARSGARD AND PAUL RUDD

We're talking all Netflix today, starting with the news coming from 'Variety' that Justin Theroux has joined Paul Rudd and Alexander Skarsgard in their sf movie MUTE! To be directed by Warcraft helmer Duncan Jones the movie will see Skarsgard portraying a mute bartender in Berlin, 40 years in the future in what has become a roiling city of immigrants, where East crashes against West. His character will be looking for a woman who has disappeared — and when his search takes him deep into the city’s underbelly, an odd pair of American surgeons seem to be the only recurring clue.

'GILMORE GIRLS' FINAL SEASON

 SEASONAL POSTERS ARE HERE!

A treat for the ladies, today! Netflix has released the first four posters for their farewell four episodes for legendary GILMORE GIRLS series which will start airing all of its four new and last ever episodes from November 25th with each episode done in a form of a hour and a half long television episode set in four different seasons, so you will follow the important moments in Lorelai's (Lauren Graham) and Rory's (Alexis Bledel) lives in a spring, summer, autumn and winter setting (hence the title A YEAR IN LIFE), nine years after we last saw the events in Stars Hollow. As you know Lorelai is probably getting back together with Luke, Rory is pursuing her career in politics, and rumour has it one of them might be expecting a baby, but it might just be a rumour!

OLD CAST IS BACK
It is interesting that all of the original cast members are returning for the finale from Lorelai's best friend and business partner Sookie played by Melissa McCarthy to her love played by Scott Patterson, her mother played by Kelly Bishop, Rory's friends played by Keiko Agena and Lisa Weil and the trio of her old boyfriends played by Milo Ventimiglia, Matt Czuchry and Jared Padalecki! Yanic Truesdale returns as Lorelai's concierge.

With the news that AMC has renewed INTO THE BADLANDS epic series for second season and PBS their civil war saga MERCY STREET for a second run, there is also a piece of TV news coming from ABC that they have cast stunning Jono Kenyon as the lead in their hybrid sitcom TOAST! Coming from Shondaland and Scott Foley, if follows an engaged couple Max Leeds (Kenyon) and Paige, who, over their wedding rehearsal dinner, have their eclectic family and friends give toasts recalling anecdotes about the couple — but flashbacks reveal that the toasts don’t always get it right, as we watch the true story of their complicated, funny and relatable road to marriage. Tessa Ferrer will play Max' closest friend.

GORAN VISNJIC IS VILLAIN

IN 'TIME' SF ADVENTURE SERIES
 In other TV news, NBC's adventure series TIME has just cast Goran Visnjic as the main villain! It follows an unlikely trio (Abigail Spencer, Matt Lanter, Malcolm Barrett) who travel through time to battle a master criminal (Visnjic) intent on altering the fabric of human history with potentially catastrophic results. Vulnerable, damaged and oddly emotional, Visnjic’s Garcia Flynn is a dangerous man who’s recently stolen a time machine and travelled with his team of soldiers to the hours prior to the Hindenburg’s explosion. Flynn is guided by a strange journal from some other period of time, and while his full plan is still shrouded in mystery, it’s clear that he must be stopped. Don't confuse this one with ABC's TIME AFTER TIME which will have young H.G. Wells chasing Jack the Ripper through time!

An avalanche of TV news today, lead by the main info that Netflix will officially do a final season of GILMORE GIRLS in the form of four 90 minute TV movies (each set in a different season of the year) with almost all of the original cast returning (lead by Lauren Graham, Scott Patterson and Alexis Bledel)!

NEW CW PILOTS

EPIC 'TRAN SYLVANIA'

CW has ordered two high concept TV series pilots. The first one is one I mentioned before TRANSYLVANIA. Set in the 1880, it centres on a headstrong young woman in search of her missing father who ventures from NYC to Transylvania where she teams up with a wrongfully disgraced Scotland Yard Detective, and together they witness the births of the most famous monsters and villains in history. 
SF MARS SERIES
They have also ordered an untitled MARS sf series pilot written by REIGN's Doris Egan, following a team of explorers who arrive on Mars to join the first human colony on the planet, only to discover that their predecessors have vanished. Led by a woman whose husband is among the missing, the colonists are forced to change their mission from exploration and settlement to investigation and survival, while navigating the hostile planet and their own personal demons!

CBS ORDERS 'THE GREAT INDOORS' TV COMEDY PILOT

CBS has meanwhile ordered a pilot for new multi camera sitcom THE GREAT INDOORS about an adventure reporter who must adapt to the times when he becomes the boss to a group of millennials in the digital department of the magazine

SKY 1 ORDERS 'THE LAST DRAGON SLAYER' EPIC TV MOVIE

Meanwhile, across the sea, British Sky 1 will turn Jasper Fforde's epic fantasy novel THE LAST DRAGONSLAYER into a TV movie set in a world where magic exists in a weakened form, and has been replaced with modern technology - for instance magic carpets are used to deliver pizzas. Better than drones. The story focuses on 15-year-old Jennifer Strange, who runs an employment agency for magicians and finds out that the last dragon is being hunted.

'KATE ON LATER' NBC SITCOM
Only a month ago I reported that our beloved Lauren Graham will guest star in Matthew Perry's new sitcom THE ODD COUPLE as his ex wife, and now it seems she will get a whole new comedy series on her own too playing the first ever female host of a late night show: she, Ellen DeGeneres and NBC will develop new sitcom KATE ON LATER in which she will play a woman who thought her day job was all her life would amount to when an opportunity arises that’s bigger than she ever dreamed possible. But that opportunity means she’s going to have to break one of the last remaining glass ceilings — the world of late-night network television talk shows.
'WALKING DEAD' SPINOFF CASTS FRANK DILANE & ALYCIA DEBNAM
Although THE WALKING DEAD has been ruined losing all direction and sense, if you ask me, in the fifth season, its spinoff series is being prepared over at AMC with the story  taking place during the same zombie apocalypse but in a different place following male divorced teacher and a female guidance counsellor. The first actors to be cast are Frank Dillane, who will play the woman's drug using son, and Alycia Debnam Carey as her ambitious daughter.

'THE WATER DIVINER' 

RUSSEL CROWE'S DIRECTORIAL DEBUT GETS A NEW POSTER

Also getting a new poster is Russell Crowe drama THE WATER DIVINER which will open up in cinemas next spring with Russell both directing and staring as an Australian man who travels to Turkey  after the Battle of Gallipoli to try and locate his three missing sons. Lots of TV news for you today, starting with always lovely Lauren Graham lending a guest starring role in Matthew Perry's new sitcom THE ODD COUPLE at CBS! The remake of the hit '70s sitcom will see Thomas Lennon playing neat freak photographer Felix who is kicked out by his ex-wife and moves in with his best friend, sports writer Oscar (Matthew Perry), whose ex-wife (Lauren Graham) has left him because of his slobbiness. Now both divorcees will have to live in the same apartment in spite of their differences.

CHARLES DANCE IN 'CHILD- HOOD'S END'

Charles Dance is the first star in SyFy's new series CHILDHOOD'S END centred around a group of aliens called the 'Overlords', who peacefully invade and rule Earth, creating a pseudo-utopia that sees the loss of human identity and culture. Dance will portray Overlord ambassador Karellen whose physical identity is unknown and who communicates with people through one human.

SYFY'S 'ASCENSION' SF SHOW

Speaking of SyFy, they have also revealed the first trailer for their new sf mini series ASCENSION which will air December 15th starring Tricia Helfer,  Brian Van Holt, Andrea Roth! In 1963, the  U.S. government launched a covert space mission sending hundreds of men, women and children on a century-long voyage aboard the starship Ascension to populate a new world. Nearly 50 years into the journey, as they approach the point of no return, a mysterious murder of a young woman causes the ship’s population to question the true nature of their mission.
