Contained horror movie OUTSIDE, based on Romola Garai's own script, brings the tale of a young male refugee traumatised by war who is brought to a dilapidated house in order to care for a woman and her dying mother. Falling in love with the younger woman he begins to suspect she is enslaved to a demon and resolves to fight the creature and rescue the woman he loves... but all is not what it seems.

Paramount has, meanwhile, confirmed that Taron Edgerton will use his unbelievable vocal talent and his smooth, seductive voice in ROCKETMAN an Elton John biopic! As 'Deadline' reports, Dexter Fletcher directed musical movie will follow the famous pop star through the course of his most iconic life.

The film covers the singer/ pianist’s growth from a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music to a global superstar, through his influential and enduring musical partnership with his songwriting collaborator Bernie Taupin. It is an unvarnished rock ‘n’ roll biopic with John’s life stripped back of the glitter. It is interesting that Fletcher has just finished helming another musical biopic Bohemian Rhapsody on Queen in which Rami Malek plays Freddy Mercury. You will be watching Taron Edgerton first in new Robin Hood movie!

Mary Shelley will be the third season Genius

While we're waiting for the second season of National Geographic's anthology series GENIUS to start this month with Antonio Banderas as Picasso, after Geoffrey Rush played Albert Einstein in the first one, the channel has renewed the series for third season as well revealing that it will focus on Mary Shelley, the writer of what is considered to be one of the first horror novels in history, Frankenstein. Later on she also pretty much created the Post Apocalyptic genre with her novel The Last Man. She was inspired by her mother Mary Wollstonecraft who was also a writer and by her husband famous poet Percy Shelley. She was one of few women to support herself as an author during the early 18th century, and her inner circle included countless literary and scientific luminaries of the day, including Lord Byron, Samuel Taylor Coleridge! She died of brain tumour after pretty much outliving all of her family, including three of her four children.

Set to air April 24th later this year on National Geographic, the new period set television series will see its ten episodes exploring how the famous Andalusian artist’s passionate nature and relentless creative drive were inextricably linked to his personal life, which included tumultuous marriages, numerous affairs and constantly shifting political and personal alliances. Picasso produced around 50,000 artworks during his life.

CHARACTER GALLERY

The cast is led by Antonio Banderas and Alex Rich who play the painter in his older and younger years. You will also watch Clémence Poésy (as French painter and author Francoise Gilot, who had two children with him), Robert Sheehan (as Carlos Casagemas, a poet, Picasso’s closest friend), Poppy Delevingne (as Picasso's lover and muse Marie Thérèse Walter, the mother of his first daughter Maya), Aisling Franciosi (as Fernande Olivier, a French artist and model who Picasso painted more than 60 portraits of) and Sebastian Roché (as Francoise’s tyrannical father)! Two period set series for you today. 'Deadline' reports that George Clooney will topline Hulu's new WW2 series CATCH 22 based on Joseph Heller's book. Set in Italy during World War II, it is the story of the incomparable, artful dodger Yossarian, a bombardier for the U.S. Air Force, which keeps increasing the number of missions the men must fly to complete their service. If Yossarian makes any attempt to avoid the perilous missions he’s assigned, he’ll be in violation of CATCH 22, a hilariously sinister bureaucratic rule which specified that people who were crazy were not obliged to fly missions, but anyone who applied to stop flying was showing a rational concern for his safety and was, therefore, sane and had to fly.

Among the many exclusives in the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly was also the first photo of Antonio Banderas in the second season of anthology series GENIUS in which he is playing Pablo Picasso! In the National Geographic's series Alex Rich will portray the young Picasso, while Antonio Banderas will be portraying the artist from his 40s until his death in 1973 at the age of 91! He lived most of his life in Paris of the first half of the 20th century and crossed paths with writers and artists including Coco Chanel, Henri Matisse, Marc Chagall, Gertrude Stein, Georges Braque and Jean Cocteau, so you may expect them in the series too!

While we are still waiting for SyFy to announce the airtime finally (it is not happening any time this year) their KRYPTON series is casting new names! Da Vinci's Demons' Blake Ritson will be a baddie again playing Brainiac, a parasitic, hyper advanced alien android of immense intelligence, one of Superman’s oldest and most dangerous foes. As you know, KRYPTON is set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet following Superman’s grandfather (Cameron Cuffe), whose House of El was ostracised and shamed, as he fights to redeem his family’s honour and save his beloved world from chaos. Paula Malcomson has also joined the cast as Charys, the matriarch of House El who helps her son Seg navigate the treacherous pitfalls of Kandor City, their Kryptonian home embattled with oppression and revolt. It is interesting that the cast already has another Da Vinci's Demons star Elliot Cowan. The pilot was shot last year in Serbia.

Here's something that is coming up as soon as next week: National Geographic will start airing their new scripted series GENIUS Tuesday April 25th around the world! The series will see acting legend Geoffrey Rush playing famous scientist Albert Einstein and since it is imagined as anthology series the second season has already been ordered and it is expected that the new GENIUS they will be dealing with in the second season, some of other great minds of the world, will be announced during the finale of the first season  this summer June 20th.

TIME IS BUT A STUBBORN ILLUSION
Based on the Walter Isaacson book Einstein: His Life and Universe GENIUS is National Geographic's first ever scripted series, executive produced by Ron Howard and Brian Grazer, with Howard also directing the first episode. The all-star cast includes Geoffrey Rush as mature Professor Einstein, Johnny Flynn as Albert in his youth and Emily Watson as the scientist’s second wife, and first cousin, Elsa Einstein. Over 10 episodes, the series takes Einstein’s story beyond the halls of academia to explore his struggles to be a good husband and father, and a man of principle during a period of global unrest. His daringly creative mind often landed him in trouble with his loved ones and peers, but also helped him to usher in ground breaking discoveries that reshaped modern science. Beside describing how he achieved his scientific theories the series will also offer a look into his theories on human relationships which includes his theory of infidelity.  It charts how Albert Einstein, an imaginative, rebellious patent clerk who struggled to land an academic post in his early years, went on to become the greatest scientific mind of the 20th century, all while juggling volatile, passionate and complex personal relationships!

T.R. Knight will star as J. Edgar Hoover, whose FBI amassed an enormous file on Einstein in an attempt to prove that he was a “subversive” and a secret communist! Claire Rushbrook will play Pauline Einstein, Albert’s mother. Samantha Cooley plays Serbian scientist Mileva Maric who became Einstein's first wife and mother of his three children and is believed to have been the creator of a lot of his theories.

Remember how just a week or so ago I told you that National Geographic is preparing GENIUS series on Einstein? Now lead star Geoffrey Rush has been joined by a really strong cast including Emily Watson, Vincent Kartheiser, Seth Gabel, Samantha Colley, Michael McElhatton... 

Each of the ten episodes will explore Einstein’s extraordinary scientific achievements, along with his volatile, passionate and complex personal relationships as an imaginative, rebellious patent clerk, who couldn’t get a teaching job or a doctorate, unlocked the mysteries of the atom and the universe. Seth Gabel will play his confidante Michele Besso; Colley portrays Serbian scientist Mileva Maric, who later became his first wife and many believe she came up with most of his theories. Vincent Kartheiser will  be a consulate official in Berlin. Rush and Johnny Flynn play Einstein at different ages.
