Ridley Scott has released a trailer for riveting, epic thriller THE DOG STARS set in a world where survival is instinct, but humanity is a choice. Jacob Elordi leads the story of Hig, a young pilot who, together with a military survivalist, Bangley, played by Josh Brolin, has carved out an efficient but isolated homestead in a brutal post apocalyptic world until a mysterious radio transmission spurs Hig to venture into the unknown in search of the hope and humanity he still believes exists. Based on Peter Heller’s captivating bestseller it also stars Margaret Qualley and Allison Janney and will be out August 28th. It was supposed to unite Paul Mescal with Ridley Scott after their massive cinematic flop Gladiator II, but now it seems that post apocalyptic movie THE DOG STARS might get Jacob Elordi as the lead as

Deadline reports. Based on Peter Heller novel it is set in a near future where an unnamed pandemic has decimated American society. Jacob Elordi will be playing Hig, a civilian pilot living a lonely life on an abandoned Colorado airbase with his dog and a tough ex-marine. The two men couldn’t be more mismatched but depend on each other to fend off roaming invaders. When a random transmission beams through the radio of his 1956 Cessna, the voice ignites a hope deep inside the pilot that a better life exists outside their tightly controlled perimeter. Risking everything, he flies past his point of no return and follows its static-broken trail.
