Netflix has revealed the streaming date for their new six episode historical series
AMERICAN PRIMEVAL which will hit the streamer
January 9th with
Taylor Kitsch in the lead role. It will be a dark and gritty retelling of the exploration of the American West in the 19th century. This is America… 1857. Up is down, pain is everywhere, innocence and tranquility are losing the battle to hatred and fear. Peace is the shrinking minority, and very few possess grace — even fewer know compassion. There is no safe haven in these brutal lands, and only one goal matters: survival.
Betty Gilpin, Dane DeHaan, Shea Whigham, Joe Tippett,
Jai Courtney, Kyle Bradley Davis, Lucas Neff, Derek Hinkey,
Saura Lightfoot-Leon, Preston Mota and
Shawnee Pourier also star in the new series, a raw, adventurous exploration of the birth of the American West.
The violent collisions of cultures, religions and communities as men and women fight and die for control of this new world – for a land they truly
believe is their destiny. The ensemble tells a story of the sacrifice all must pay when they choose to enter a lawless and untamed wilderness.
It makes me feel like a relic from a bygone age....I don't recognise the names of these actors. It's not that hard to Google someone though. When I was a child western films and series were quite common - less so now. It may be time for a return to that genre.
ReplyDeleteThese are all mostly young boys of Hollywood, but most of them are unrecognisable under the masks and make up.
DeleteMe too..didn't know any of those names...well, I am not into the westerns. The only famous one I know is John Wayne and I don't think I have ever watched one of his films.
DeleteBoth Taylor and Jai are famous stars, but they sure did uglify them here.
DeleteI like the actors, Taylor, Shea Wigham, Jai.plus I love westerns. In fact, I don't care how woke Netflix can be. Even Taylor Sheridan went wildly diverse in his westerns. I can take it
ReplyDeleteI also like Lucas Neff, he was such an irresistible cutie pie in Carols Second Act sitcom. That being said I will probably skip the series, I cannot deal with all that American violence...
DeleteI'm not much for westerns myself, but will sometimes watch one with Jason. This one though, I'll leave for Jason to watch on his own.
ReplyDeleteIt is too gritty.
