You know how love isn't always easy, sometimes it goes with the natural flow and sometimes there are obstacles. Some of the love films hitting cinemas this summer deal with such things.

Kathryn McCormick) arrives in Miami with aspirations of becoming a professional dancer and soon falls in love with Sean (
Ryan Guzman), a young man who leads a dance crew in elaborate, cutting-edge flash mobs, called “The Mob.” When a wealthy business man threatens to develop The Mob's historic neighborhood and displace
thousands of people, Emily must band together with Sean and The Mob to turn their performance art into protest art, and risk losing their dreams to fight for a greater cause. I must admit I'm really in love with the trailer!

TAKE THIS WALTZ which finally comes to cinemas July 6th with
Michelle Williams, Luke Kirby and
Seth Rogen in the lead roles. The film centers around Margot, a 28 year old freelance writer who lives in a charming house on a leafy street in the Little Portugal section of Toronto, as she struggles with and examines her feelings for Lou, her husband of five years, while exploring a new relationship with Daniel, an artist and rickshaw driver who lives across the street. This is the second full length film directed by
Sarah Polley.
I have to admit, I do like the step up franchise. I watch them whenever they're on t.v. Will I go see this one in the theater? Probably not. It's not Magic Mike.

DeleteStep up 4? I can't believe they are still making those. The first one was pretty cool but they are a little too over the top for me. Take this waltz sounds a little boring but the other 2 look like they should be unique and entertaining :)

DeleteNo, because in these films these kids are always dancing to save some school/program/dancehall/park/neighborhood. I've kind of had my fill of that and I don't need to see anymore. Maybe down the road I'll be into those films again. I was once (Footloose, Breakin', Flashdance) Perhaps I should not have said never because you never really do know if your tastes will change. :)

ReplyDeleteFalling Overnight looks like a movie that can transcend cultures and history. There are some things that touch our humanity no matter where we are from and this movie is one of them.
As for Take This Waltz, I'd like to reach through the screen and slap this ignorant woman. Movies like this do damage to us as a society by promoting loose morals. It is quite normal to find people of the opposite sex attractive and interesting after you are married, but it means absolutely nothing. Attaching emotional valence to a basic and simplistic animal response shows us just how far we haven't come as a species.
Yes, darling, and I love that this installment has such a profound and deep political message! Love such inspiration.

Pfft all this lovey dovey stuff, I don't mind such movies and actually like a few a lot. But many of the ones today just feel forced, they don't have that spark that the older ones had. And Step Up movies pffft they need to die already.

DeleteCrazy Eyes sounds pretty cliche. I'm thinking it's the typical story line that's in many movies...but, I love those movies so I would definitely go see it!! lol

DeleteWhen did love become so complicated? I watched the step up trailer and didn't think I'd like it but it was good. Probably just the dancing parts though. I do like the Tumor movie though.
ReplyDeleteSTEP UP films usually surprise cynics, since people think those films are shallow, but they are quite the opposite, those are some of the very few positive, inspiring films.
DeleteI've got to admit I've never been interested in the Step Up films, I'm not saying they're bad, they just don't appeal to me. Seems like a lot of people love those though, or there won't be so many of those made.
