will reveal the history behind the legendary masked man, from being born as a son of an aristocratic Spanish military man turned landowner and a Shoshone female warrior, and growing up as a witness of the brutal injustices dealt to Native Americans by European settlers, to being a student in Napoleonic Spain, and fighting pirates at the sea, and finally to his return to America to reclaim the hacienda where he was raised and to seek justice for all who cannot fight for it themselves.The film should not be mixed up with ZORRO REBORN, which I mentioned earlier this year, and which will be an apocalyptic sf movie.
HOLLYWOOD SPY HEADLINES
Now this sounds like a hilarious and super charming match: Rhea Perlman and Kirstey Alley will reunite after CHEERS again in
ABC's new sitcom THE MANZANIS, in which Alley will play the head of an Italian American household who moves into the New Jersey suburbs and instantly begins to clash with her uptight neighbors, while Perlman will play her live-in mother-in-law Camille Manzani. The lastest one to join Alex Proyas' adaptation of Milton's epic PARADISE LOST about the war between Lucifer and archangel Michael is Dominic Purcell who will portray Jeehamel, an angel who becomes devil's right-hand. As you know Bradley Cooper is Lucifer, Ben Walker is Michael, and the cast also includes Djimon Hounsou (angel of death), Camilla Belle (Eve), Casey Affleck, Callan McAuliffe...

Here's a trailer which appeared last week, but I didn't have time to post it. It's for Charlize Theron's new drama YOUNG ADULT which opens up
in cinemas this December and also has extremely talented Patrick Wilson in the cast. In the film, Academy Award winner Charlize Theron plays Mavis Gary, a writer of teen literature who returns to her small hometown to relive her glory days and attempt to reclaim her happily married high school sweetheart (Patrick Wilson). When returning home proves more difficult than she thought, Mavis forms an unusual bond with a former classmate (Patton Oswalt) who hasn't quite gotten over high school, either.
Too much Zorro? I'm tired of the movies around Zorro. They really have to surprise me. Like The Three Musketeers
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen any Zorro since Banderas.
ReplyDeleteWhy Charlize Theron isn't an even bigger star is beyond me....
ReplyDeleteShe's beautiful!
Zorro sounds like it's trying to get onto the Pirate bandwagon if you ask me.
ReplyDeleteOh, and a hoodie is an article of clothing. It's like a sweatshirt with a hood. :P
dezz! i love the fall look!
ReplyDeleteParadise Lost is going to be Epic, and I can't wait for it. Having Bradley Cooper as Lucifer is going to be a treat too.
ReplyDeleteAaah Patrick and Charlize, two of my favorite stars. That being said, OMG I have got to see this movie!!! Charlize is so wicked as the bad girl.
ReplyDeleteIsabelle Allende's book is extraordinary and I am looking forward to the film. The sf Zorro, not so much, though I will give it a chance.
Dominic Purcell as a bad angel...what a wicked fantasy. ;)
Dominic Purcell deserves more limelight, he has a good presence (Blade 3, Lost....)
ReplyDeleteThe sad thing is, the movie is a masterpiece. It's funny and in many ways, true. I might watch it.
ReplyDeleteHopefully they do something interesting with zorro instead of just another cash in on a brand name type thing, who knows.
ReplyDelete@Drew
ReplyDeletethe reason is that she never ever had a single hit film. She is pretty and charismatic and not a bad actress, but she doesn't have a single well known film, beside MONSTER.
@DWei
yep, I figured that's what a hoodie is :)
@Vics
oh, thanks darling, you're the first one to notice it and it means a lot to me :) I think it adds a certain Autumnish charm, doesn't it? And I tried to keep it warm and sunny, not gloomy and rainy like Fall usually is
@Jamie
ReplyDeleteit will be very interesting to watch him as Lucifer, hope he won't be funny though :)
@Melsy
I haven't read ZORRO, but I did read a number of Allende's book (THE HOUSE OF SPIRITS being my favourite, both the book and the film), and she is a nice writer
@Lurk
he really is a nice actor especially for action films
@Clarissa
ReplyDeleteyep, I think they wanted to make it appealing to the audience
@Pat
we shall keep our fingers crossed :)
The minds behind Young Adult suggest it'll be a good film. Will wait and see. I like Theron though.
ReplyDeleteit's Diablo Cody's work :) Which means - it could be good and it could be extremely bad :)
ReplyDeleteDezzy - YOUNG ADULT had me giggling. "We can beat this thing together." LOL. Love Charlize. It'll be fun to see her in this role.
ReplyDeleteI'm an old Zorro fan from way back, so Yay!!! And wow! Diablo Cody's back at it. YA looks fantastic. Can't wait to check it out~ :D <3
ReplyDelete@Shells
ReplyDeletethe trailer has its funny moments :)
@Leigh
ZORRO was part of our childhoods!
Oh and I love the new look Dezz. Orange and gold become you. :)
ReplyDeleteglad you like it, Melsy :) I think the leaves are getting a nice vibe from HOLLYWOOD SPY's lurkers :)
ReplyDeleteI thought of you when I saw the Young Adult trailer as I know how much you love Patrick Wilson. THis looks pretty funny actually, and it's shot in my home state so naturally I have to see it! :D
ReplyDeleteI love Dominic in Prison Break, I hope this new project of him is as good as Prison Break thou it was a tv series it was intensed.
