Now here's a spicy little rumor: you know how stunning and charismatic British rose Emily Blunt was the first candidate to play the Black Widow in the first "Iron Man" a few years ago but she decided to film "Gulliver's Travels" instead? And you know how Scarlett Johansson took the role after that. Well, according to "Daily Mail" the producers still desperately want to bring Emily in the third installment of "Iron Man" to portray a new dangerous villain. Who could it be? Is it true? I'll keep you posted if the rumor turns true. "Iron Man III" will probably get into production after "The Avengers" which are supposed to bring all the Marvel's superheroes in one film. As you know, Scarlett's Black Widow will unfortunately be the only female super hero in "The Avengers".
Speaking of gorgeous Emily, whom we've enjoyed in "Devil Wears Prada", "Young Victoria", "The Wolfman", she is currently shooting a charming comedy "Salmon Fishing in Yemen" with Ewan McGregor, she will also give her voice in a hilarious animated movie "Gnomeo and Juliet" set in the world of warring indoor and outdoor gnomes, she also acts in "The Adjustment Bureau" a 2011 sf romance with Matt Damon about an affair between a politician and a ballerina which is affected by mysterious forces keeping the lovers apart, and "Gulliver's Travels" in which she plays the princess of Lilliputia is set to premiere later this year. And the fans around the Net are fighting hard for her to get the role of Wonder Woman if the super heroine ever gets a film of her own.
And if you like history and BBC like me, you will be happy that "Merlin" returns to BBC on September 11th with the third season. The new season opens with Merlin and Arthur finally finding the missing Lady Morgana. The third season will be aired in USA over at Syfy (since they were amazed by stunning ratings which made "Merlin" one of Syfy's most popular shows), but sometime early in 2011. The new season brings exciting new twists to Merlin’s ongoing struggle to protect Prince Arthur, as well as bigger and bolder action sequences, stunning CGI monsters, and mysterious villains.
I didn't like Emily Blunt in The Wolfman, she seemed really wooden. I can't really think what role she could play in Iron Man III that would be any good.
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait for Merlin!! Thanks for posting this up, I didn't realise season 3 was being aired so soon. This does a damn good job of filling that Doctor Who shaped hole in my life. I'm hoping we get to see some evil Morgana in this series (I've not watched the trailer in case of spoilers :P)
well, having in mind the idiotic premise in THE WOLFMAN and the totally unrealistic story and the setting for her character, I think she was quite good in that film. She and Anthony Hopkins were actually the only bright parts of the flick.
ReplyDeleteI'm also very anxious about new MERLIN, it's been almost a year since the last season and I'm missing Merlin, Arthur and the company.
I really didn't know who Emily was until she married Jon Krasinski. Well, it should be interesting to see what happens.
ReplyDeleteCD
Emily is a Cutie!
ReplyDeleteAnd I too have missed Merlin dearly!
I don't know if I've every seen Emily Blunt in anything. I haven't seen any of the movies you mentioned. Weird sidenote: I have a daughter named Emilee and she was born in Blount County. That's what I think of when I hear Emily Blunt's name.

Tossing It Out
I might just see an Iron Man film if Blunt is cast.
ReplyDeleteShe decided to do a movie with Jack Black instead of Robert Downey Jr.?
ReplyDeleteI'll never figure women out...
So, I watched the preview, and now I'm watching the first episode of season 1 of Merlin. Oh, how I love a good warlock :) And I didn't know what Anthony Head was doing these days, so it's pretty cool to find him again. Thanks for the heads-up :)
ReplyDeleteInteresting most indeed. Never checked out Merlin but I've heard good things. However, what I've seen for commercials, it seems more geared for a younger audience.
ReplyDeleteEmily Blunt is lovely. And I agree with you about The Wolfman Dezmond. That film was poorly written, though I'll admit I didn't think it was as terrible as others did, just pretty bad, not horrible.
ReplyDeletehow have i never seen merlin??? it looks amazing! and SyFy (grrr) got all those good rating for showing it as was!!! why won't they learn the lesson, instead of "americanizing" being human!!!! grrr...
ReplyDeleteGlad to see that Merlin's back soon. I somehow managed to miss the whole of season 2 (!), so I must try harder this year :-)
ReplyDeleteBTW lovely pics of Emily Blunt!
DEZMOND - I need to find the SyFy channel and see if they're doing reruns so that I can catch up.
ReplyDeleteEmily Blunt is amazing! I also wonder why she was hesitant to act with Robert DJr. Although it might have been Mickey Rourke in the 2nd one. He seems scary.
@Clarissa
ReplyDeleteKrasinski is a great point in her CV :))
@Avalon
the wait is almost over for us pour suffering souls :)
@Arlee
that's a lovely association
@James D
my point exactly :)
@Alex
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't act with either of them :))
@Rosie
oh, glad we got you hooked up on MERLIN :)))
@Brian
MERLIN is much more gentle and less violent than SPARTACUS or even SEEKER, but it has a great humor and lovely young actors in the roles of Merlin and Arthur.
@Matthew
ReplyDeleteI fully agree with you Matt ;)
@Vics
I've no idea how you missed MERLIN :) It's great fun for the whole family. And yes, somebody will suffer if they americanize BEING HUMAN!
@Cerebus
glad you like the pics, they very carefully chosen as usually :))
@Shells
it's quite possible that they have the reruns.
oh my goodness dezz! i just watched the first episode of merlin on netflix! AWESOME!! thanks!
ReplyDeleteit gets even better later on Vics :)
ReplyDeleteemily blunt seems like a sophisticated and intelligent gal:)
ReplyDeletei have heard that merlin is a good show. i should really give it a shot.
I don't understand the appeal of Merlin. No one can act on it.
ReplyDeleteI also get the impression you like Emily Blunt ;)
That's a whole lotta Emily.
ReplyDeleteGuess what. I have a daughter Emily. And she is very blunt. She inspects me and tells me my flaws (but loves me anyway). Just thought I'd share. :)
Love Emily Blunt! And thanks for the preview of Merlin. I have heard about it but I don't know why I've never been able to watch it before. Now that I have digital cable I have more viewing options so I really must try to tune in!
ReplyDelete@Ed
ReplyDeleteshe is sophisticated and intelligent :)
@Lynda
the appeal of MERLIN is in the charming and relaxed chemistry between the young actors, in the fact that it tells a lovely story on friendship, and plus it has a wonderful mix of humour and fantasy. They make you laugh but they also amaze you with some action and fantasy.
@Kelly
guess all Emilies are like that :)
@Phylly
you must, it's great fun :)
Oh I'd rather see Emily in a million years than Scarlet! She'd be perfect for the role and I know she was kind of bummed out she couldn't do Iron Man 2. I do hope this will materialize!
ReplyDeleteyes, but Scarlett still stays in the film, if Emily gets a role it will be a different one.
ReplyDeleteOh bummer!
ReplyDeleteLOVE Emily Blunt! The Young Victoria is one of my new favs!!
