Coming from director Ladj Ly and Pathe, who scored huge success with movie versions of Alexandre Duma's Musketeers and Count of Monte Cristo, is a film on his father DUMAS: BLACK DEVIL which will also be an expensive, big budget historical epic. It has been announced today that Theo Christine, Vincent Cassel, Omar Sy and François Civil will lead the cast of 2027. movie. Thomas Alexandre Davy de la Pailleterie Dumas, was born a Caribbean slave in 1762 and beat the odds by rising through the ranks to become a revolutionary French general. The son of a nobleman, Marquis Alexandre Antoine Davy de la Pailleterie, and an African slave, Marie-Cessette Dumas, he became the first and highest ranking Black leader in the French military and served under Napoleon Bonaparte. But despite his many exploits, which earned him the nickname of “Black Devil,” his role in the French Revolution was underplayed and he was even denied a full pension and legion of honor by Bonaparte. Although he was not even 4 years old when his father died of stomach cancer, Alexandre Dumas cherished his legacy.

Amy will lead Woman in the Window movie

While she is preparing to cross over to the small screens in HBO's Sharp Objects, Amy Adams has just scored a lead in the movie adaptation of A.J. Finn’s best selling novel THE WOMAN IN THE WINDOW which has been translated so far into almost 40 languages!

She will be Anna Fox, an agoraphobic child psychologist who lives alone in a New York suburb. Afraid to leave home, she spends her days watching movie classics and her interaction is mostly online. She spies on her neighbours like they do in the movies she loves. When she sees a crime take place in the house across the park, should she call the cops? She’s also got a problem with prescription drugs and wine consumption.

Here's something epic for you while we're nearing the end of the week: as 'Deadline' reports today, Constantin Film and Prime Universe will turn Natasha Alterici's female Viking comic book HEATHEN into a movie. The second volume of the graphic novel should be out in July. It tells the story of a young Viking warrior named Aydis. An outcast and self proclaimed HEATHEN Aydis is a woman born into a time of warfare, suffering, and subjugation of women. She takes on a quest to end the oppressive reign of the god-king Odin, and break the shackles imposed on the women around her. Oh, and she's lesbian!

In a more family oriented genre, Oscar winning director Michel Hazanavicius will helm fantasy family film THE LOST PRINCE starring Omar Sy, Berenice Bejo and Francois Damiens.

It is a story of Djibi whose life revolves around his beloved 7 year old daughter Sofia. The devoted single father never misses their cherished ritual of bedtime stories. Every night as she falls asleep, he takes her into “Storyland,” a fantasy film studio where their extraordinary fairy tale adventures come to life with Djibi in the lead role as the heroic Prince Charming. Five years later and nearly a teenager, Sofia starts to grow out of her father’s stories and instead makes up tales of her own with Djibi no longer the heroic lead. As his roles in both the real world and in “Storyland” begin to change, Djibi must find a way to forever remain the hero of his daughter’s life, imagination and stories.
