Period set news for you this Monday, people, starting with the first clip from the second season of VICTORIA epic series released today to celebrate Victoria's Day. It shows a scene from the christening of Victoria's (Jenna Coleman) and prince Albert's (Tom Hughes) first child that was born at the end of the first season.

The second season will see her expand her family with new babies (she had nine kids in total) while trying to balance family life with her royal duties in mid 1800's. Prince Albert is, meanwhile, still struggling to find a suitable role for himself in their marriage and in the kingdom. VICTORIA will also face the Irish potato blight of 1845, where more than a million people died and people hated her calling her the famine queen cause she donated just 2000 pounds. In movie news today, Guy Pearce has taken over the lead role from Clive Owen in ANDORRA, but Clive is still in and will now play a supporting role of Toni Collette's husband. Vanessa Redgrave has also joined Gillian Anderson, Joanna Lumley in the movie in which Pearce will be Fox who arrives to ANDORRA in search of the chance to reinvent himself, but gets entangled with the ancient Mrs Reinhardt (Redgrave) as well as the Australian Dents (Collette and Owen) and Mrs Quay (Lumley), the kayaking matriarch of an Andorran dynasty who seems to recall Fox from long ago. As he finds comfort in the company of Miss Quay (Anderson), the mystery of his origin deepens. Talking about ensemble casts, 'Deadline' reports that Christina Hendricks has joined Glenn Close, Gillian Anderson, Max Irons, Stefanie Martini, Terence Stamp in the first movie adaptation of Agatha Christie's CROOKED HOUSE. Written by Downton Abbey's Julian Fellowes, it  follows private detective Charles Hayward who is invited to solve a gruesome crime where nobody is above suspicion, including Sophia, his client and former lover.

Another reboot that will plague us some time in the future, the remake of the most popular adventure saga ever THE MUMMY, this time with Tom Cruise in the lead role, has just got itself the female lead: gorgeous Annabelle Wallis from THE TUDORS (although she played the queen in it, in next year's KNIGHTS OF THE ROUND TABLE: KING ARTHUR she will be just a maid) and PEAKY BLINDERS will take lead female role in the modern day set movie. Sofia Boutella was announced previously for the title role of the monster. Cruise will play an ex soldier, while Annabelle will be, according to 'Variety' an archaeologist! Alex Kurtzman is helming the second movie in Universal's Monsters series, started by Luke Evans' DRACULA UNTOLD. Johnny Depp has already been announced as the lead in THE INVISIBLE MAN movie, while VAN HELSING and THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN are also in plan.

Since it seems we're having a blond beauty day, 'Deadline' reports that Amanda Seyfried will work with sf director Andrew Niccol again after Justin Timberlake's IN TIME a few years ago. She has boarded ANON, a sf thriller in which Clive Owen plays a detective in a world with no privacy, ignorance or anonymity. All our lives are transparent, traceable and recorded by the authorities. It’s the end of crime, it seems. However, when Owen’s character stumbles on a young woman (Amanda Seyfried) with no digital footprint and invisible to the police, he discovers it may not be the end of crime but the beginning. Here's yet another family adventure for Dwayne the Rock Johnson: he will lead the cast in Disney's JUNGLE CRUISE the big screen adaptation of their theme park attraction in which the visitors travel through African rivers of the Nile and Congo, where they encounter rhinos and hippos, after which they visit a part of South America's Amazon River, where they  can see piranhas! The movie itself will be a 1950's adventure in the vein of THE AFRICAN QUEEN. Earlier this week it has been announced that Dwayne will also lend his voice in Disney's animated movie MOANA as a Hawaiian demigod and will also remake BAYWATCH in the form of a movie with Zac Effron.

In TV news, after scoring major success with THE ROYALS, E! is preparing their second scripted series THE ARRANG- EMENT which will have Josh Henderson, Michael Vartan and Christine Evangelista in the lead roles. Described as a Cinderella story for modern times with a dramatic and complicated Hollywood twist, it follows Megan Morrison (Christine Evangelista), a beautiful young actress who auditions for the female lead in a summer blockbuster playing opposite Kyle West (Josh Henderson), the hottest actor of the moment. After an amazing audition segues into a dream-like first date, Megan’s Cinderella story takes a turn to the bizarre when she is presented with a contract that details an entire relationship with Kyle. Megan must weigh her options and the benefits and consequences to her career and her life overall… and decide whether or not she will accept “the arrangement.” Michael Vartan plays Kyle’s best friend and mentor!

Meanwhile, 'Deadline' reports that director Luc Besson has hired Clive Owen to star in his $180 million expensive sf adaptation VALERIAN AND THE CITY OF A THOUSAND PLANETS as Commander Arün Filitt. Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevigne are set to lead the cast playing Valerian and Laureline in the adaptation of the graphic novel, which centred on a pair of spatio temporal agents who help defend a utopian 28th century Earth and its neighbouring planets from bad guys, with the pair’s adventures rooted in space opera and time travel themes not so much unlike Besson's 'Fifth Element'!
