The Institute starts July 13th on MGM+ |
MGM Plus has released first trailer for their eight episode series adaptation of
Stephen King's
THE INSTI- TUTE with
Ben Barnes in the lead role which is set to hit the streamer
July 13th. When 12-year-old genius Luke Ellis is kidnapped, he awakens at The Institute, a facility full of children who all got there the
same way he did, and who are all possessed of unusual

abilities. In a
nearby town, haunted former police officer Tim Jamieson (Barnes) has
come looking to start a new life, but the peace and quiet won’t last, as
his story and Luke’s are destined to collide. Tim Jamieson is a

disillusioned ex-cop who takes a job as the night knocker in a small
town, withdrawing from the world until Luke’s plight reignites him and
gives him something to believe in.
Mary Louise Parker will be Ms. Sigsby, the

charming but
iron-willed director of the Institute and a true believer in its awful
mission. She’s certain history will come to see her as a hero.
Parece una buena serie. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteGlad you like it.
I will probably skip it myself as I have noticed violence against boys in it and that is a big no no no from me, I have zero tolerance for violence against children, especially the sexist one.
DeleteIt wasn't just boys that were assaulted here. Girls were equal opportunity torture in the book. Just the main character was a boy, so that's what the trailer focuses on. If I'm remembering correctly, it was a little girl they offed first, followed by several more. But you are right, that there does seem to be an uptick in movies and books with violent acts against children. Nothing new for King though, with stories such as Carrie, Pet Cemetery, etc dating way back before it was a trend.
DeleteIn the trailer above they hit the male kid in the face, but they would never do it to a girl, it is as if they think violence against men is allowed and OK already when they are boys. If you wouldn't do it to a girl, don't do it to a boy either. I have zero tolerance for this kind of sexism. Most films and shows promote this on a daily level without even blinking. How many times you see a woman slap a man in films and that is supposed to be funny.
DeleteMy husband is a fan of Stephen King...where else can you watch this one?
ReplyDeleteSince it is MGM Plus I imagine it will air somewhere else around the world, maybe on one of your German channels or streamers.
DeleteThis was one of my least favorite books from King. Not very memorable and seemed to drag on, so I am curious if the series would be a shift to actually being better than the book. We don't have MGM, so unless it ends up on Prime, HBO or Hulu, I'll be missing this one.
ReplyDeleteMGM is a streamer, so it won't end up anywhere else.
