BECOMING ELIZABETH
BEHOLD THE FUTURE QUEEN!
We usually don't have anything to watch in summer, but this year Starz will fill it for us with their new epic TV series BECOMING ELIZABETH and they are celebrating it with first cast photos including Alicia von Rittberg as the future queen and Tom Cullen as lord Seymour.
BECOMING ELIZABETH SAGA
is
the fascinating, untold story of the early life of England’s most
iconic Queen. Long before she ascended the throne, young Elizabeth Tudor
was an orphaned teenager who became embroiled in the political and
sexual politics
of the English court. The death of King Henry VIII sets
into motion a dangerous scramble for power. His surviving children find
themselves pawns in a game between the great families of England and the
powers of Europe who vie for control of the country. The world of
BECOMING ELIZABETH
is visceral, dangerous, and very bloody; a time in
which every man or woman of the court is on the wheel of fortune, which
may take them to a position of great power one moment, or the
executioner’s block the next. Judgements are rendered quickly, and no
one is safe.

WHO IS AT THE COURT?
Alicia von Rittberg plays Elizabeth I, a teenager who thinks she is an adult and old enough to play the games that she is thrown into after the death of her father. Tom Cullen plays Thomas Seymour, simultaneously charming,
playful and funny whilst being hotheaded, ambitious and possibly dangerous – he expects the spoils that ought naturally to fall to the King’s uncle! Romola Garai stars as Mary, Oliver Zetterström as Edward, Jessica Raine as Catherine Parr, John Heffernan as Duke of Somerset, Jamie
Parker as John Dudley, Jamie Blackley as Robert Dudley, Jacob Avery as Guildford Dudley, Alexandra Gilbreath as Kat Ashley, Leo Bill as Henry Grey, Bella Ramsey as Jane Grey, Ekow Quartey as Pedro, Alex Macqueen as Stephen Gardiner, and Olivier Huband as Ambassador Guzman.
The new series will air in eight hourlong episodes |
The series is expected to arrive sometime this summer |
THE RINGS OF POWER
CHARACTER POSTERS ARE HERE!
And since this will obviously be a day of massive epic treats, check out the mysterious (as in they don't really reveal the characters) and gorgeous character posters for LORD OF THE RINGS prequel television series THE RINGS OF POWER which will arrive to Amazon Prime with its first eight episode season September 2nd! The cast of the series inspired by Tolkien's work is massive and so is the number of these brand new posters. This epic drama is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, and will take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads, and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien’s pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness. Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone! The cast led by Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Maxim Baldry, Nazanin Boniadi, and Morfydd Clark as young Elven queen Galadriel will also include Ismael Cruz Córdova, Charles Edwards, Trystan Gravelle, Sir Lenny Henry, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Joseph Mawle, Tyroe Muhafidin, Sophia Nomvete, Lloyd Owen, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Charlie Vickers, Leon Wadham, Benjamin Walker, Daniel Weyman, and Sara Zwangobani. The shooting of the second season has already been granted over at Amazon.

STAR TREK GETS AIRING DATE
New series arrives this May! |
Anson Mount takes the lead role of captain Pike |
My husband is a huge fan of Star Trek!
ReplyDeleteI am too, but not of the last two series which were horrible, hope this one will be good for once.
DeleteI've never watched and don't plan to ever watch a Star Trek. That being said, Becoming Elizabeth is sounding better and better! Hopefully they don't literally kill each other for the throne..
ReplyDeleteWell, the brother dies and then she kills the sistah LOL
DeleteWell, there goes my hope! Lol. Can’t they ever just hug it out in these royal families???
DeleteThey do, at night, in bed... incest is very trendy in those circles.... Day is for murder and kill thy loved ones.
Deleteso, they are going for the old gossip of Elizabeth having her thing with her stepfather. iT's not the first time, Dame Jean Simmons and Stewart Granger played them as a romantic duo in Young Bess. I love the story, I loved Alicia since I saw her in Charité and Tom Cullen impressed me in the Gunpowder Plot. Looking forward to this one.
ReplyDeleteI do ever so love me Cullen, have you seen his gay movie The Weekend, he was brilliant in it. He was good in Knightfall too even though that show was atrocious.
DeleteI've only seen Tommy in period pieces: Gunpowder, Downton and ...nooooo! don't remind me! I get an allergic rash everytime I hear Knightfall. What a repugnant show!
DeleteIt has such unlikeable characters that I celebrated when they butchered the adultress queen and whipped our knight LOL Poor king Ed Stoppard, to deserve such wife and best friend... not to mention the psychotic son and sluttish daughter.
DeleteTom was very cute in The Weekend, as he was very young back then and delicious.
While I don't plan on watching it, the posters really are lovely. My bestie will definitely tune into Becoming Elizabeth. That's more her jam to follow royals, but I may catch it later if I hear good buzz.
ReplyDeleteI hope it will not be disappointing because I need me a period drama fix. I do really like so far Gilded Age even Cynthia Nixon is lovely in it however disgusting that sounds coming from my mouth LOOOOL It is beautiful and very glitzy and tidy. However, I'm not liking the second season of Witcher so far, what an uter borefest that is. I've only liked the first episode so far, with Nivelen. I'm also watching Apple's Invasion series, and while I'm sticking with it, it is so slow I feel my ovaries will dry off while it finishes.
DeleteI feel like I've been shot into a faraway fantasy realm hearing you say that about Nixon LOL. I'm glad it's not disappointing you so far. That's too bad about Witcher! Hopefully it picks up momentum again. Nothing worse than a full season that's a snoozefest.
DeleteI;m not optimistic, just watched episode 5 and it was the worst so far.
DeleteI might have to sign up for Paramount at some point because they seem to have a few shows that I would like. I love the Star Trek franchise.
ReplyDeleteThey ruined it totally with previous two series, but this one might save the day as I like the two leads and episodic approach.
DeleteStar trek's fans increase day by day.
ReplyDeleteThey did lose a lot of them with the previous two series which were very bad.
