I think that today we shall have a photo Monday, since I have a tone of brilliant new images to show you, so here we go: first you can check out a brand new poster for Tarsem's Greek epic

IMMORTALS which leaves me absolutely breath taken! You can see Henry Cavill as Theseus in the heat of the battle surrounded above his head with all other characters (Freida Pinto, Stephen Dorff) from the film and all the Greek Gods (Luke Evans, Kellan Lutz) who are helping him in his battle against evil king Hyperion (Michey Rourke)! The film will sweep the box offices this November! And the latest reports state that the journalists who were shown some footage from the film this weekend at Comic Con were all left stunned, dazzled and absolutely amazed by the revolutionary usage of visuals and 3D technique!

After Tarsem has amazed us with the first image of Lily Collins in his SNOW WHITE project last week, this weekend has brought us first images from the rival SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN project too.But unlike the first film which will be a

visually spectacular mix of fantasy, fairy tales and comedy, the second one looks dark, grim and less promising (due to the lead actress): the images show costumed cast - Charlize Theron as the Evil Queen, Sam Claflin as the prince and Chris

Hemsworth as the Huntsman. There's also the horrid Kristen Stewart trying to look like Snow White. This one premieres three months after Tarsem's project next June.

Now these two are the most glamorous, the most beautiful and also the most refined and charismatic queens in the world. Salma of Morocco (33 like your spy) actually isn't a queen, although she

is the wife of Moroccan king Mohamed, since their country doesn't have queens. She uses the title of Lalla.  The story which HOLLYWOOD SPY wrote about more than a year ago has been confirmed at the Comic Con according to "MovieWeb": Robert Rodriguez will make a live action film out of late

fantasy artist Frank Frazetta's FIRE AND ICE saga. The story starts when a tiny village gets destroyed by a surging glacier, which serves as the deadly domain for the evil Ice Lord, Nekron. The only survivor is a young warrior, Larn, who vows to avenge this act of destruction. The evil continues, however, as Nekron's palace of ice heads straight towards Fire Keep, the great fortress ruled by the good King Jarol. When Jarol's beautiful daughter, Teegra, is abducted by Nekron's sub-human ape-like creatures, Larn begins a daring search for her. What results is a

tense battle between good and evil, surrounded by the mystical elements of the ancient past.

 Speaking at Comic Con, Hugh Jackman has revealed that the main villain in WOLVERINE will be Silver Samurai, the mutant son of a former Japanese crimelord! Coming out in 2012 the film will be directed by James Mangold. Also officially announced at Comic Con is the film adaptation of VOLTRON, popular animated show which follows five young warriors who defend the galaxy as pilots of a battalion of ultra-high-tech Robot Lions, powerful vessels with the ability to join

together to form a fearsome mega-weapon known as Voltron: Defender of the Universe. Although all of her films were huge flops, and she never justified her Oscar nor won the love of cinemagoers, Hilary Swank will star in the film adaptation of sf comic book SHRAPNEL according to "Variety"! Set in the year 2250, the story follows a former Solar Alliance Marine who leads an uprising on Venus, the last free colony, against an oppressive solar government in order to fight for the freedom of her people.

You can also check out new images from THE RAVEN, a film which premieres next March. Shot last winter in Belgrade, Serbia, the film has John Cusack as the famous poet Edgar Allan Poe who uses the help of a young detective, played by amazing Luke Evans, in order to catch a serial killer who is using Poe’s own works as the basis in a string of brutal murders. At some point his fiancee, played by Alice Eve, gets kidnapped by the killer. The film is directed by James McTeigue (V FOR VENDETTA).

ABC has recently released a new trailer for ONCE UPON A TIME which could quite possibly become the biggest television hit among the new projects when it premieres this Fall. The show follows Anna Swan

(Jennifer Morrison) a 28-year old bail bonds collector who's been on her own ever since she was abandoned as a baby. But when the son she gave up years ago finds her, everything will change. Henry (Jared Gilmore) is 10 years old now and in desperate need of Anna's help. Henry believes that Anna actually comes from an alternate world... and is Prince Charming (Josh Dallas) and Snow White's (Ginnifer Goodwin) missing daughter. According to his book of fairytales, they sent her away to protect her from the Evil Queen's (Lana Parilla) curse, which trapped the fairytale world forever, frozen in time. Of course Anna doesn't believe a word, but when she brings Henry back to Storybrooke, she finds herself drawn to this unusual

boy and his strange New England town. Concerned for Henry, she decides to stay for a while, but she soon suspects that Storybrooke is more than it seems. It's a place where magic has been forgotten, but is still powerfully close... where fairytale characters are alive, even though they don't remember who they once were -including the Evil Queen who is now Henry's foster mother.  Probably inspired by the enormous success of Starz TV show, GK Films is going to make a SPARTACUS live action epic movie. Michael Gordon, who penned famous 300, will write a script which will be based on real historical facts and will follow SPARTACUS as the leader of 70,000 warriors and 50,000 freed slaves as they fought against the Roman empire between 73 and 71 B.C. Of course if they get the financing and move on with this epic project, we shall probably enjoy following the casting process and the search for the male star who will take this lucrative epic role.

acquired rights for THE RED STAR comic book set in an alternate Russia which touts highly advanced technology along with magical elements. The story centers around a Russian soldier and his wife who get caught in the middle of a war between his country and a former Russian leader. The comic book has sold millions of copies around the world so far. According to "Variety" the writers of G.I.JOE will help Disney write the script for GARGOYLES, a film which will follow the famous scary dragon faced roof statues which come to life in order to defend their city. Disney wants to make this a multi platform project with TV shows and different merchandise goods as well.

casting for the second season, and the latest casting additions are lovely Carice van Houten and Stephen Dillane. Dillane will play Stannis Baratheon, brother of the late King Robert, who is vying for the throne. Carice will on the other hand, play Melisandre, a powerful sorceress who advises him in his quest for power. She is described as a powerful woman and a seductive force possessing prophetic powers who is willing to impose her religion on the world by any means necessary. We've previously seen this Dutch beauty in VALKYRIE and in REPO MEN. And Irish star Liam Cunningham will play Davos, a resourceful man who helps Stannis seize the Iron Throne from King Joffrey.

Joe Johnston who is about to premiere his CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER, and is also planning JURASSIC PARK 4 (in a

form of a reboot), has recently revealed to "Screen Rant" that he also wants to make a sf film about famous BOBA FETT, the character from STAR WARS. Back in the past he worked with George Lucas ( as the visual effects art director) who was his mentor and now he wants to make a feature film on the character he helped being designed. As you remember Boba Fett was a bounty hunter hired by Darth Vader to find the Millennium Falcon. Dangerous and mysterious, the character has created a cult following among the STAR WAR fans.

Vin Diesel has released a new piece of concept art for RIDDICK the sequel to his popular sf saga. It still isn't quite certain if Vin and director David Twohy will find money for the whole project.

The producers of TRANSFORMERS and REAL STEEL are planning the film adaptation of Cartoon Network's CAPTAIN PLANET. The character is known as the first eco-super hero, created back in the 90's in a show about a group of young people (The Planeteers) who combine their special powers to summon Captain Planet, an environmental superhero, to battle the world's worst eco-villains. trailer for THE THING, the direct prequel to John Carpenter's classic from the 70's, which premieres this October set at an Antarctica research site that's invaded by an "alien life form". The discovery of an alien craft brings in graduate student Kate Lloyd (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) who partners with Sam Carter (Joel Edgerton), a helicopter pilot, to hunt down this alien. It's interesting that Universal Studios Florida will open a maze inspired by the film in the form of an abandoned scientific research facility in the midst of a vast and frozen Antarctica in which guests will get an unprecedented first-hand preview of the much-anticipated thriller.

and take the lead role in a huge epic THE VANGUARD in which the story will  revolve around two Viking warrior brothers who toil to return to Sweden after being banished to North America. The studio would like this to be a tentpole project in the line of GLADIATOR and BRAVEHEART. The film will be written by emerging screenwriter Chris Boal who is also writing the JULIUS CAESAR epic I wrote about last week. And we shall also watch Skarsgard in BATTLESHIP, in the remake of STRAW DOGS and in Lars Von Trier's MELANCHOLIA.

HOLLYWOOD SPY SPOTLIGHTS: SEAN BEAN JOINS LILY COLLINS, JULIA ROBERTS, ARMIE HAMMER AND NATHAN LANE IN TARSEM'S "SNOW WHITE" FAIRY TALE EPIC

Yep, that's the biggest piece of news this weekend. GAME OF THRONES Sean Bean has joined Tarsem Singh's SNOW WHITE project. In this fabulous movie adaptation of the popular

fairy tale, Sean Bean will take the role of Snow White's father, the king. As  you know, he is just another addition to the already stellar cast which includes the daughter of famous Phil Collins, Lily Collins as the Snow White, Julia Roberts as the evil queen (the role should fit her naturally), young star Armie Hammer as the prince and always hilarious Nathan Lane as queen's timid and crazy servant.

 THE  SNOW WHITE STORY

Differently from rival projects and from Disney's classic version, the story in this one will stick more to the original fairy tale, which was a bit more grim and dark. In this version, after the Evil Queen kills her father and pretty much destroys his realm with her tyrannical rule, Snow White actually joins

the dwarfs who will help her fight back the villain and take away the kingdom from her. It is interesting that the story will also have comedy elements, probably around dwarfs and the queen's servant.

 SNOW WHITE TIDBITS

The film, which premieres in March 2012, opening the Spring season in cinemas, has had a long list of actors and actresses competing for the lead roles. Saoirse Ronan was the first choice for the role of Snow White, but the age difference between her and Armie Hammer was too big. On the other hand, the list of the actors who were in the game for the role of prince is really long and it includes: Alex Pettyfer, Robert Pattinson, James McAvoy ....

SNOW WHITE COSTUMES AND VISUALS

Since the director of the film, Tarsem Singh (THE FALL, THE CELL) is known as the biggest living visual master genius, you can expect extremely stylized film with imaginative, colourful and extremely vivid designs, sets, costumes ... Both of his previous

films were pretty much weaved of dreams,and early reports reveal that SNOW WHITE will have fantastic forests, a very Indian-looking palace and several masquerade designs reminiscent of Mardi Gras and old storybook illustrations. The costumes will be bright and colourful: Armie Hammer will wear a coat and tales costume with rabbit ears emerging from his top hat, while Lily Collins will combine a blue dress with black leather armor since she is portrayed as a fighter. Each of the dwarfs will have very distinctive costumes according to their nicknames.

 RIVAL SNOW WHITE PROJECTS

I've already told you before that you can expect not one, not two, but three Snow White projects in Hollywood. The main rival to Tarsem's film will be SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN with Charlize Theron as the Evil queen, Sam Claflin as the prince and Chris Hemsworth as the huntsman. But, alas, this story, a bit

different from the original tale, focusing on the huntsman who, sent  by the Evil Queen to kill the princess, ends up teaching her and training her how to fight back the queen, will have the horrid Kristen Stewart in the lead role, and having that in mind, and the fact that the film will premiere after Tarsem's, and that both Viggo Mortensen and Hugh Jackman have refused the lead role in it, we can guess it will have smaller chances for success. Meanwhile, the third Snow White project will be SNOW AND SEVEN,  set in 19th Century China. It will center on an English woman who travels to Hong Kong for her father's funeral. When she discovers the nefarious plans of her stepmother, the woman escapes into mainland China where she is taken in by seven renowned warriors. Michael Arndt (TOY STORY III) is writing the script.

 According to "Empire" our dear Justin Timberlake could take the lead role in FULLY AUTOMATED, a Joel Silver action thriller following two fresh-faced coppers who team up with a female Delta Force operative to take down a crazed mercenary with violent plans. After his extremely charming roles in BAD TEACHER and FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS this year, it seems Justin is going all action now. Empire also reports that another hunk, Tom Hardy could play Al Capone in CICERO which finds a young Capone making his way up the criminal hierarchy. Warner Bros. is even considering making this a trilogy which would follow the rise, rule and fall of the famous mobster.

If you like both GLEE and MAD MEN you will like a new film called STRUCK BY LIGHTNING. Based on the script written by GLEE's most popular member Chris Colfer, and staring also Christina Hendricks from MAD MEN, the film will see Chris Colfer's character being killed by a bolt of lightning in the opening moments of the movie. The rest of the movie is told through flashbacks and shows how the character blackmails his high school classmates into contributing to a literary magazine he is creating. The cast will also include Dermot Mulroney.

With the help of an eccentric girl, he searches for the answer to a mystery linking the father he recently lost, the ill-tempered toy shop owner living below him and a heart shaped lock, seemingly without a key. Based on the bestselling and award winning book from Brian Selznick this movie, coming out this November, has Jude Law, Ben Kingsley, Christopher Lee and Ray Winstone in the cast. The film was shot in 3D. The trailer features some really lovely visuals and some totally unfitting music.

action film of amazing Oscar winner Andrew Stanton who brought us WALL-E, FINDING NEMO, TOY STORY  and A BUG'S LIFE ... This sweeping action-adventure set on the mysterious and exotic planet of Barsoom (Mars) is based on a classic novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs, whose highly imaginative adventures served as inspiration for many filmmakers, both past and present. The film tells the story of war-weary, former military captain John Carter (Taylor Kitsch), who is inexplicably transported to Mars where he becomes reluctantly embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions amongst the inhabitants of the planet, including Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) and the captivating Princess Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins). In a world on the brink of collapse, Carter rediscovers his humanity when he realizes that the survival of Barsoom and its people rests in his hands.

The second trailer for today is for Steven Soderbergh's chilling viral thriller of epic proportions CONTAGION which comes out this September and follows the rapid progress of a lethal airborne

virus that kills within days. As the fast-moving epidemic grows, the worldwide medical community races to find a cure and control the panic that spreads faster than the virus itself. At the same time, ordinary people struggle to survive in a society coming apart. With a rather stellar cast including Kate Winslet, Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, Marion Cotillard, Laurence Fishburne, the film reminds us on many scary epidemics which appear around the world at least once a year chilling our bones to the core. I must admit that given its huge budget and stellar cast, the trailer didn't do much for me. For now it seems like some TV movie, so I'm hoping some new trailer would bring more suspense and better dynamics.

Believe it or not, according to fresh rumors, the top contender for this important task is the queen of television Oprah Winfrey. As you know she recently ended her famous show, so she might find some time for this gig? What are your reactions? At first I was in the what-the-hell? mood, but now I think it might not be a bad idea. At least she knows all those celebs and is rather close to all of them, and she might bring certain elegance to the whole ceremony which hasn't seen a good host since Hugh Jackman?

The film will follow a new assassin trained in the same programme as Bourne, instead of Jason Bourne himself, and will have Jeremy Renner and Rachel Weisz in the lead roles. As "Deadline" reports Warner Bros. and Jonathan Liebesman (BATTLE LOS ANGELES, CLASH OF THE

TITANS 2) are preparing a huge JULIUS CAESAR epic about the time when Caesar was sent to Spain on a detail no one else wanted. There, he built the 10th Legion fighting force that would eventually march on Rome, overrun the forces of his rival Pompey, and establish Caesar as the unrivaled ruler of the empire. The film, which ends with Caesar's coronation, which means it could have a sequel in which he goes to Egypt, is planned with one of the biggest stars in the lead role. Give it to Karl Urban, oh, please give it to Karl Urban!

As HOLLYWOOD SPY has informed you a few times before, in the sea of remakes Tinseltown is planning a remake of ROBOCOP too.

According to "MovieWeb" MGM is currently trying to make Chris Pine take the lead role.  Tom Cruise and Keanu Reeves were previously rumored to take the famous role of the futuristic cop who becomes a robot and goes on to fight for justice, but now it seems the studio wants a younger star. It is also true that although he had a smashing success with his role of Captain Kirk in the megassuccessful STAR TREK, Pine hasn't really had any other bigger blockbuster after it, so he might use a bigger lead role such as this one. The remake should hit cinemas in 2013.
