Nobody thought beloved adventure classic The Mummy needed reboot and they still made it with Tom Cruise and the movie ended up being a major flop for Universal, but it seems they are still continuing with their Dark Universe franchise of monster movies since the latest rumours from 'Hollywood Reporter' say they want Channing Tatum as the famous vampire killer in the reboot of VAN HELSING, which, you will agree, also does not need a remake since Hugh Jackman was a perfect vampire slayer. They've already attached Johnny Depp for The Invisible Man and Javier Bardem for Frankenstein, and they apparently also want Angelina Jolie for Bride of Frankenstein which should be directed by Bill Condon.

I'm a bit late with this one, but better late than never! First, rather dynamic and explosive, trailer has been released for action drama movie PROUD MARY in which Oscar winner Taraji P. Henson plays a professional hit woman Mary who does killings for for an organised crime family in Boston, but her life gets completely turned around when, during an assassination that goes bad, she meets a young boy  who sparks a maternal instinct in her. The movie is supposed to hit theatres around the world next January and February!

Two dinner set movies today, for you, spylings, starting with Parisian comedy MADAME which has just cast our most beloved  Australian actress Toni Collette and her Australian colleague Harvey Keitel to play wealthy American couple Anne and Bob living in Paris who decide to give a high class dinner for a dozen distinguished diners. The last minute arrival of Bob’s son from his first marriage suddenly takes the number of guests to 13. The superstitious Anne asks housemaid Maria (Rossy de Palma) to change her uniform and pretend to be a wealthy Spanish friend. In this guise, she is seated beside David, an art expert and British aristocrat. He falls for her charms and asks to see her again. Continuing the masquerade, Maria embarks on a romance. Anne’s world is thrown into a spin as Maria’s new found happiness exposes her own loveless marriage and shakes the foundations of her elitist social beliefs. She sets out to destroy the budding love affair.

Meanwhile, as 'Deadline' reports today, there will be fancy dindins over the ocean too in BEATRIZ AT DINNER  indie drama which has just added a few famous names to its cast: Salma Hayek, Chloe Sevigny and Jay Duplass are joining John Lithgow and Connie Britton! The story of the movie follows a holistic medicine practitioner who finds herself a fish out of water when her car breaks down at a wealthy client’s house and she joins a celebratory dinner party.

SyFy has finally revealed the first trailer and also first cast photos from their new science fiction series VAN HELSING and I'm not sure what to think. It seems that SyFy has again gone the very cheap way.

VAMPIRE HUNTER  
Premièring on September 23rd (with the pilot episode being aired this weekend to wet your appetite or turn you away, depends),  the 13 episode series, from Neil LaBute, will focus on Vanessa Helsing (Kelly Overton, whose acting seems beyond painful in the first clips), the latest in a long line of famed monster hunters. The series will feature an intriguing twist on the Dracula story, with Vanessa being resurrected in a future in which vampires rule the world. Discovering that she holds a mysterious power over them Vanessa must lead what’s left of humanity against the vampires in a post-Rising world.

 KELLY OVERTON LEADS THE CAST

TV news for you this Sunday, starting with the cast round up for SyFy's new epic series VAN HELSING! Kelly Overton will lead the 13 episode drama which follows Vanessa Helsing, a descendent of the Van Helsing lineage of warriors who now must lead mankind against a world controlled by vampires in the post-Rising landscape.

Jonathan Scarfe will play Axel, a career Marine with unwavering devotion and loyalty to both duty and his wards, despite years of isolation and endless vampire attacks. Christopher Heyerdahl will play Sam, a survivor of the vampire Rising, who relies on his strength and observational skills to stay alive. David Cubitt is John, another survivor of the vampire Rising, whose actions are fuelled by anger, prejudice, suspicion and fear. Paul Johansson is Dimitri, a vampire turned before the Rising, he is now the patient and calculating leader of the vampires. Tim Guinee will play Ted, a vampire foot soldier who does battle with Vanessa and conceals a tragic past. Production starts tomorrow for Fall airing.

Meanwhile, when it comes to multi camera sitcoms, always delightful Stockard Channing is to lead NBC's new sitcom pilot ME AND MEAN MARGARET which will follow a fiercely candid and often offensive legendary actress, and the ambitious 27-year-old lawyer forced to babysit her.

'MARLON' FINDS HIS LADIES

NBC is also rounding up the cast for their sitcom MARLON! Loosely inspired by Marlon Wayan’s life, it centres on an inappropriate but loving father (Wayans) committed to successfully co parenting with his polar opposite ex-wife. TRUTH BE TOLD's Bresha Webb will play his biggest enemy, his ex wife's best friend. Essence Atkins will play the ex wife, a type-A interior designer by trade and something of a control freak who did one reckless and spontaneous thing in her life: fell in love with Marlon.

The 13 episodes will see her leading the Resistance across the Wasteland, in the former America, in search of the hole in the sky in Colorado because the uninterrupted sun there is as strong as the vampire's bite and they could harness its power to fight the vampires!  Along the way they will come across human fortresses and vampire strongholds - some friendly, most not.
