The discovery sends shockwaves through the community, reviving the ghost of an unsolved cold case that rocked the town three years prior – the disappear- ance of Jackie’s niece, Nessa, which cost her career. Cefin’s death summons Jackie’s former partner, Detective Eric Bull (Rafe Spall), back to Morfa Halen to lead the investigation into a community he failed once before. Convinced the cases are linked, Jackie and  Bull must reconcile and race to uncover long-buried secrets inside Morfa, before the storm breaks and all the evidence is gone for good. BBC Two has, meanwhile, sent us the first images from their new historical series THE GALLOWS POLE which, based on the book by Benjamin Myers, fictionalises the remarkable true story of the rise of David Hartley and the Cragg Vale Coiners. Set in the moorland hills of 18th Century Yorkshire, the drama follows the enigmatic David Hartley (played by Michael Socha), as he assembles a gang of weavers and land-workers to embark upon a revolutionary criminal enterprise that will capsize the economy and become the biggest fraud in British history. Also starring are Sophie McShera who plays Grace, with Thomas Turgoose as William Hartley, Yusra Warsama as Bethsheba, Anthony Welsh as Abe Oldfield, Samuel Edward-Cook as Isaac Hartley, Joe Sproulle as Joe, and Adam Fogerty as James Broadbent, Nicole Barber-Lane as Susie, Fine Time Fontayne as Joseph Broadbent, with Ralph Ineson as The Clothier. The three part series will come to BBC Two and iPlayer May 31st.

  A HAUNTING IN VENICE 

AGATHA CHRISTIE FILM TEASER

Kenneth Branagh has released the first teaser for his new Agatha Christie movie adaptation A HAUNTING IN VENICE which arrives to cinemas this September starring Michelle Yeoh, Jamie Dornan, Kelly Reilly, Kyle Allen. Set in a post-World War II Venice on All Hallows’ Eve, the film follows another mystery featuring the celebrated sleuth Poirot as he reluctantly attends a séance at a haunted palazzo. After one of the guests is murdered, the former detective must once again find out who did it. The movie looks more like a cheap horror than a Christie movie to me, but you can check it out yourself, his first two adaptations were atrocious.

If you grew up on Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales such as The Snow Queen, The Little Mermaid or The Ugly Duckling, you will be happy to hear that Fox 2000 is planning a musical movie about him starring Ansel Elgort!

The musical fantasy will feature original music from Wicked's Stephen Schwartz and will, as 'Deadline' reports, follow Andersen who as a young man gets trapped in a world of his own imagination. As he searches for a way back to reality, he comes face-to-face with characters from his own fairy tales, nearly all of whom try to trap him in their world forever.The project is planned as a potential musical movie franchise. Life of Pi's David Magee is penning the script! The studio apparently paid a seven digit sum for the pitch.
