THE STORY OF KULLERVO EPIC MOVIE

The movie is out next January in Finland

We have the first trailer for the movie adaptation of famous Finnish epic KALEVALA titled THE STORY OF KULLERVO which should hit their cinemas January 16th next year. Set in the 11th century Kalevala, we follow the ill-fated Kullervo (Elias Salonen). Growing up in the aftermath of the massacre of his entire tribe, Kullervo comes to realise that the same people who brought him up, the tribe of Untamo, were also the ones who slayed his family. As a child, he was sold into slavery, mocked and tormented. When he finally runs away from his masters, he discovers surviving members of his family, only to lose them again. TO GET AN EPIC MOVIE ADAPTATION

As Variety reports, SF Studios is set to co-produce and distribute KALEVALA: THE STORY OF KULLERVO an expensive historical movie drama based on Finland’s national epic “Kalevala”! To be directed by Antti J. Jokinen it already has Scandinavian stars Elias Salonen and Eero Aho set as leads. Set in the 11th century it will be the first feature film adaptation of the Finnish national epic poetry compilation “Kalevala” which blends Karelian and Finnish folklore and mythology, created in 1835 by Elias Lönnrot, a Finnish doctor and explorer. With production starting in September, the film is scheduled for early 2026. release.
