Another small screen adaptation of a fantasy book saga comes from Georgia Lee, Joe Henderson and Chad Kennedy who will team up on turning Kristen Ciccarelli's book series CRIMSON MOTH into a TV series. It is set in the aftermath of a devastating revolution, when witches have been diminished from powerful rulers to outcasts ruthlessly hunted due to their waning magic so our heroine Rune must hide what she is.Spending her days pretending to be nothing more than a vapid young socialite, Rune spends her nights as the Crimson Moth, a witch vigilante who rescues her kind from being purged. The saga will soon get a third part as well

 the witch hunters off her scent and gain the intel she desperately needs by courting the handsome Gideon Sharpe - a notorious and unforgiving witch hunter loyal to the revolution - who she can't help but find herself falling for. Gideon loathes the decadence and superficiality Rune represents, but when he learns the Crimson Moth has been using Rune’s merchant ships to smuggle renegade witches out of the republic, he inserts himself into her social circles by pretending to court her right back. The saga will be turned into a TV series

Since romantasy is so popular among the female audiences, Starz has opted THE WOLF KING romantic fantasy saga by Lauren Palphreyman for a TV series adaptation, and that also includes the sequels The Night Prince, which was published in 2025, and The Wolf Queen, set for release this November. According to Variety, the story follows a princess named Aurora who is kidnapped by a werewolf and finds herself ensnared in a lethal love triangle and  is thrust into a war between humankind and her feral captors, forcing her to decide whether she’s a prize to be claimed or the master of her own destiny. Tanya Saracho has been set as the show runner and will also executive produce the series with Palphreyman.

Netflix has released first teaser trailer for their new eight episode supernatural fantasy mystery series THE BOROUGHS which should be available for streaming from May 21st set in a seemingly picturesque retirement community somewhere in New Mexico, where a group of unlikely heroes must band together to stop an otherworldly threat from stealing the one thing they don't have - time. Alfred Molina leads the cast together with Geena Davis, Bill Pulman, Dennis O'Harre, Clarke Peters and Alfrie Goodard while Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews are the creators of the new show. 

 

WHAT IS THE STORY? 

In a seemingly perfect retirement community, a grieving newcomer’s monstrous encounter inspires him to join a misfit crew of unlikely heroes who uncover a dark secret that proves their “golden years” are more dangerous, and they are more formidable, than anyone expects. A trailer and first images have been released for Russian eight part fantasy television series THE SECRET CITY (Тайный город) a high end small screen adaptation of popular novels by Vadim Panov about a hidden world of magic and ancient clans behind the modern metropolis. Panslavic star Milos Bikovich, Russia's most famous actress Yulia Peresild, Igor Vernik, Maria Andreeva, Alexey Guskov, Evgeny Chebatkov, Yuri Kolokolnikov, Sergey Shakurov, Ivan Dobronravov, Diana Pozharskaya, Denis Shvedov, Andrey Merzlikin, Pavel Chinarev, are just some of the well know names that will appear in the cast.

 

THE SERIES TAKES THE AUDIENCE

 to an alternative Moscow, where secretly from people from time immemorial live the Great Houses of Nav, Chud and After all. They own magic, alchemy and the powers of nature, supporting the illusory barrier - the trouble that hides their world from human eyes. In the center of the plot is Artem (Oleg Savostyuk), who accidentally turned out to be the owner of a magical artifact. Thanks to this, he discovers the existence of the Secret City and is drawn into the confrontation of powerful clans, the outcome of which depends the balance between the magical and human worlds. His path intersects with  the mercenary Cortez (Miloš Bikovich), fighter Lebed (Eugene Chebatkov), strict Major Kornilov (Alexei Guskov), the mysterious mercenary Yana (Maria Andreeva) and other heroes, each of whom is involved in the struggle for power and influence in its own way. The world of the Great Houses is also covered by the young magician Lubomir (Leo Kandelaki), the Queen of the House After All, Vseslav (Yulia Peresild), as well as representatives of the Black Dogs, with which the characters face in the battle for the artifact.

Playground has bought adaptation rights to Alan Moore's epic fantasy novel THE GREAT WHEN and will turn it into a TV series. Amidst the smog of post-WWII London emerges Dennis Knuckleyard, a young clerk employed by a second-hand bookshop. One day, on an errand to acquire books for sale, Dennis comes into the possession of a novel that simply does not exist. It is a fictitious book from the Great When, a nightmarish, imaginary realm that is the supernatural counterpart to the city Dennis calls home. Dennis has to return the book or get killed. Soon he finds himself at the center of an explosive series of events, navigating a new realm of criminals, artists and occult figures that puts his life at risk and may alter and endanger both Londons forever. It is the first of five planned novels.

Over at HBO they've decided to turn Adam Silvera's fantasy novel THEY BOTH DIE AT THE END into a half hour series produced by Chris Kelly and J.J. Abrams. The story is set in the near future where everyone receives a bureaucratic phone call notifying them at the start of their last day on Earth! The series will follow a seemingly disparate group of people as they live their scary, funny, weird, hopeful, romantic, and unexpected final hours, all connected through the two gay teenage boys who are both looking to make a new friend on their End Day and will meet up for one last great adventure — to live a lifetime in a single day.
