Coming from director Ladj Ly and Pathe, who scored huge success with movie versions of Alexandre Duma's Musketeers and Count of Monte Cristo, is a film on his father DUMAS: BLACK DEVIL which will also be an expensive, big budget historical epic. It has been announced today that Theo Christine, Vincent Cassel, Omar Sy and François Civil will lead the cast of 2027. movie. Thomas Alexandre Davy de la Pailleterie Dumas, was born a Caribbean slave in 1762 and beat the odds by rising through the ranks to become a revolutionary French general. The son of a nobleman, Marquis Alexandre Antoine Davy de la Pailleterie, and an African slave, Marie-Cessette Dumas, he became the first and highest ranking Black leader in the French military and served under Napoleon Bonaparte. But despite his many exploits, which earned him the nickname of “Black Devil,” his role in the French Revolution was underplayed and he was even denied a full pension and legion of honor by Bonaparte. Although he was not even 4 years old when his father died of stomach cancer, Alexandre Dumas cherished his legacy.

Believe it or not April is just two weeks away from us and that means that the adventure we have been waiting for is ready to hit cinemas with the first part

The first part is out April in cinemas

of the planned duology THE THREE MUSKE- TEERS: D'ARTAGNAN and then the second part -  THE THREE MUSKE- TEERS: MILADY will arrive in December this year, Pathe has meanwhile released the magnificent character posters to wet our appetites! Beside that, together with Disney Plus they are also making two spin off TV series MILADY: ORIGINS which will follow the beginnings of the elegant villainess and BLACK MUSKETEER which I announced a few years ago. To be shot in French, the series will build on the experience gathered making the $80 million worth historical adventure movie saga based on Alexandre Dumas' work. First film D'Artagnan is out April 5th, the second December 13th! The film hits Russia April 6th, and parts of South America and Europe from April 13th! Both films were shot back to back! The same team is also preparing Count Monte Cristo movie with Pierre Niney in the lead role.

 

  3 MUSKETEERS: D'ARTAGNAN
will follow D'Artagnan (Francois Civil), a spirited young Gascon, who is left for dead after trying to save a young woman from being kidnapped. When he arrives in Paris, he tries by all means to find his attackers. He is unaware that his quest will lead him to the heart of a real war where the future of France is at stake. Allied with Athos (Vincent Cassel), Porthos (Pio Marmai), and Aramis (Romain Duris), three musketeers of the King (Louis Garrel) with a dangerous temerity, D'Artagnan faces the dark machinations of the Cardinal of Richelieu (Eric Ruf). But it is when he falls madly in love with Constance Bonacieux (Lyna Khoudri), the Queen's (ghastly dull Vicky Krieps) confidante, that d'Artagnan truly puts himself in danger. For it is this passion that leads him into the wake of the one who becomes his mortal enemy: Milady de Winter (bizarrely grotesque Eva Green). Jacob Fortune-Lloyd stars as Duke of Buckingham! This new adaptation of Alexandre Dumas' 1844 novel will introduce a new character, Hannibal, based on the true story of Louis Anniaba, the first Black musketeer in French history. I've already told you that our dear Pathe will do a movie adaptation of COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO after they give us two Musketeers movie in April and December, and now Pierre Niney has been announced as the lead! To shoot from July with October 2024 opening date, it will be told from the point of view of Edmond Dantès, the first French superhero, who steps from the light into the shadows, assuming the identity of masked avenger. Based on Dumas' famous novel, it will be an epic adventure film, with exceptionally strong characters!

A prehistoric environment via a 360-degree Dinosaur World, which has been designed to immerse viewers in a hyper-realistic representation of the jungles of the Jurassic period and plains of the Cretaceous period. Thanks to state-of-the-art CGI, Stephen is able to chart their story on earth right through to their demise 66 million years ago. He gets to meet much-loved dinos such as the 26m-long diplodocus and witness ferocious battles between triceratops and the fearsome tyrannosaurus rex.

The shooting, which started last Autumn and will last till May, will cover Louvre Palace, the Castles of Fontainebleau and Saint-Germain-en-Laye, Fort la Latte and Chantilly, as well as the citadel of Saint-Malo. After these 60 million euro worth two movies, Alexandre de la Patellière and Matthieu Delaporte will continue to explore the work of the famous French author as the duo is also preparing a new adaptation of the Count of Monte Cristo.

MALCOLM'S LIST period set costume drama movie! This Regency era drama, directed by Emma Holly Jones, sees Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù portraying the titular hero. In the film, which you can get an exclusive first look today in the photos from Vanity Fair, Dìrísù plays the dashing Mr. Malcolm, a wealthy and elegant suitor looking for a bride who meets all the qualifications he has on his list. Freida Pinto plays Selina Dalton, a woman who helps her friend Julia Thistlewaite (Zawe Ashton) get revenge on Mr. Malcolm after he rejects her for falling short of his lofty criteria. The film, which arrives to theatres July 12st this summer, is based on the book of the same name by Suzanne Allain and the cast is rounded out by Oliver Jackson-Cohen as the sociable Lord Cassidy; Ashley Park as the bubbly Gertie Covington, and Theo James as the debonair Captain Henry Ossory! NEW VERSION FROM FRANCE

From our spotlight on period set projects coming from France this year you already know that we can expect a series on Young Voltaire, Germinal and royal mistress Diane de Poitiers, and a film on Eiffel, but France is already planning projects for the future as well! One of them will be a new movie adaptation of THE THREE MUSKETEERS envisioned as a two movie saga coming from Pathe and director Martin Bourboulon. As Allocine reports, the films, which are to start with the shooting this summer for an early 2023 release, will focus on D'Artagnan and Milady in a story written by Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de La Patellière.

The best thing is that the lead cast has just been announced by Pathé Films and oh, my, the cast is super stellar: young François Civil will play D’Artagnan, Eva Green will be treacherous Milady, legendary Vincent
