Pictures and is set in the year 2183, centring on a space commander leading an elite team on a mission to destroy a deadly alien race. These mechanized aliens wipe out everything in the galaxy once every 50,000 years. On the other hand, the adaptation of ASSASSSIN'S CREED has found its home at New Regency. Michael Fassbender will both produce and star in the story which features a man travelling back in time to operate in the shadows of various historical events. Another similar project will also be INSURRECTION which, based on a comic book, will be Paramount's sci-fi take on the story of Spartacus, following a man who leads an uprising against powerful corporations that command clone armies and rule the world.
HOLLYWOOD SPY HEADLINES
Beside video games, another popular thing to adapt onto films are
classic novels and it seems that beside LES MISERABLES, GREAT EXPECTATIONS, ANA KARENINA and THERESE RAQUIN, we'll be getting another
classic novel adapted onto the big screen: it will
be Flaubert's MADAME BOVARY which will have Rhys Ifans, Paul Giamatti and Mia Wasikowska in the story about a married woman who tries to enhance her social status by having a number of extramarital affairs. Rhys Ifans will play Monsieur Lheureuse, who leads her to her financial downfall by making her buy things on credit. Meanwhile, "Deadline" reports that in the sea of new historical shows, CW is preparing their teen take on MARY QUEEN OF SCOTS! Pitched as "Game of Thrones" meets "Marie Antoinette" the pilot, titled REIGN, will show Mary as a "warrior queen" with a "girl posse" who fought to gain the throne of Scotland after spending her childhood at the French court, only to end up killed by her own sister Elizabeth I. As I've reported earlier this summer, Michael Hirst of TUDORS and ELIZABETH THE GOLDEN AGE (in which she was portrayed by Samantha Morton), has a plan of shooting a film on Mary with Saoirse Ronan and BBC had a great mini series on her with Clemence Poesy in the lead role.

SAFE HAVEN TRAILER
I have a lovely romantic trailer for you today. It is the first trailer for SAFE HAVEN movie adaptation of Nicholas Sparks' bestselling novel, which, appropriately, hits cinemas February 8th 2013 directed
by amazing Lasse Hallstrom. When a mysterious young woman named Katie (Julianne Hough) appears in the small North Carolina town of Southport, her sudden arrival raises questions about her past. Beautiful yet self-effacing, Katie seems determined to avoid forming
personal ties until a series of events draws her into two reluctant relationships: one with Alex (Josh Duhamel), a widowed store owner with a kind heart and two young children; and another with her plainspoken single neighbor, Jo (Cobie Smulders). Despite her
reservations, Katie slowly begins to let down her guard, putting down roots in the close-knit community and becoming increasingly attached to Alex and his family. But even as Katie begins to fall in love, she struggles with the dark secret that still haunts and terrifies her . . . a past
that set her on a fearful, shattering journey across the country, to the sheltered oasis of Southport. With Jo's empathic and stubborn support, Katie eventually realizes that she must choose between a life of transient safety and one of riskier rewards... And that in the darkest hour, love is the only true safe haven!
Looking forward to some Mass Effect, Insurrection and who am I kidding Assassins Creed!
ReplyDeletethose will be really popular among the videogame players :)
DeleteI do like hearing news about Mr. Fassbender and Rhys Ifans. :))
ReplyDeleteI just don't know what to think about that Mary Queen of Scots project. Seems like it's leaning toward fantasy quite a bit. :P
where did you get the fantasy element, sister? :) They meant GAME OF THRONES in the line of epic settings and action, not fantasy element.
DeleteI mean they're not sticking to history very closely. Sort of fudging the facts it seems, like Anne pointed out.
Deleteyes, but the plot I've published doesn't show any changes in historical facts :)
DeleteI'm with LG on the Mary Queen of Scotts. The story doesn't need make-believe, let alone teen type make believe added to it. Such a tragic figure was Mary and a sad ending to her life. They should just tell the story straight as it was. But CW is synonumous with schlock.
ReplyDeleteMichael Fassbender-weeeehaaaaw. I just watched him in Hunger last night. Such a hard movie to see, but the truth is a hard thing and must be told.
Safe Haven has a good director-he did a marvelous job with Cider House Rules and Chocolat. If this has that kind of rich texture it will be a good watch indeed.
There will be no fantasy in it, Annzie, they meant the epic element, not the fantasy one. CW is also doing a show on Wonder Woman while she was still an Amazon living among Gods, it will also be with the young/teen element.
DeleteIf you watch him in SHAME, hold your breath :) but don't watch it among kids :) I nearly fainted while watching a certain sequence in it....
I adore Hallstrom. We really don't have anyone similar with his warmth and profound goodness in today's world of evil directors obsessed with morbidity and dark action.
I just checked Netflix to see if they have Shame and they don't.
DeleteCider House Rules had some difficult content in it and he did such a great job dealing with it. The casting was superb and he caught the essence of the novel so well.
SHAME is probably still too new to appear at Netwhateverthatis :)
DeleteI always look forward to his films, he is my fave director next to Shekhar Kapur and Tarsem Sing :)
Michael Fassbender...Yes, Please! I love him. Safe Haven sounds really good. :)
ReplyDeleteagreed on both, Raquel :) We never miss any of Fassy's projects here.
DeleteFirst of all...I'VE MISSED YOU!! I feel like I've been gone forever! I am looking forward to a nice big fat ball of calm in my life!!
ReplyDeleteSecond, starting off your post with the beautiful Mr. Fassbender, well, I thank you for that. It is nice when you find some one that pretty that can act too!
Now, Safe Haven...I think you got me with Cobie. She's the bomb.
Well, now the oven's repaired, life should get back to normal :PPPP
DeletePosting Fass My Benders' pics is our fave pastime :)
Safe Haven sounds like it's right up my alley! :)
ReplyDeletewe do love us a nice romantic flick, Jemi :)
Deletewhat we've got here is a failure to communicate... why is that actor so annoying, they cannot act... nor would i watch anything that they might be in... though your post makes it less of a sting.
ReplyDeletewhich one is annoying? Fassy or Joshy? :)
DeleteWhen a mysterious young woman named Katie (Julianne Hough)... gah!
Deletehello paper bag, here is a duncing with the stars talent... yes, you know the place where old actors come to die... and apparently get born too.
pfftt... I thought you'd appreciate Julianne's talents... or at least assets :P
Deleteshe is a beautiful lady, but that voice... gah! i would have to gag her.
Deletelol
DeletePeople loved seeing Josh and Julianne on the beaches here during filming in our little part of North Cackalacky. Fergie was even spotted in local restaurants while visiting her hubby on the set.
ReplyDeleteoooh, I bet they did.
DeleteWonder when will Fergie have some new song...
Sorry, could not make it past that picture of Fass My Benders. ;)) I barely made it down here to comment.
ReplyDeleteHe totally fassbendered you Melsy :)
DeleteThat he did, ;P
Deleteit happens to all of us, Melsy, he did it to me too last time I watched the famous dangling scene with him in SHAME :)
DeleteFass looks good, as always ;D
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to ASSASSSIN'S CREED and REIGN!
The movie,SAFE HAVEN does look intriguing..though Sparks stuff is so predictable...
How are you Dezzy?! :D
as always :)
DeleteThose are some nice projects, and I also look forward to them.
Could be better, but I will survive, hope it is all well up at your front.
I like the girl in SH
ReplyDeletethat's Julianne Hough :) Rather gorgeous!

ReplyDeletesure it will

ReplyDeleteHad a lot of porblems with blog and comments these days

DeleteA teen version of MARY QUEEN OF SCOTS?? Hmmm, I wonder how that'd work. I'm curious to see Saiorse in the film version though, that girl is massively talented!
ReplyDeletewell, Mary was very young when she came over to Scotland, so it does go with the facts.
