COOPER AND FRY ON CHANNEL 5

Channel 5 begun, earlier this Tuesday, airing their new series COOPER AND FRY set in the mystery shrouded Peak District,  where DC Ben Cooper (Robert James Collier), an affable local, is thrown together with guarded newcomer DC Diane Fry (Mandip Gill), to investigate a string of mysterious deaths. As their personal lives begin to intertwine and past scars look to be healed, a unique friendship is formed. While Cooper and Fry unearth old rituals and beliefs, they must rely on each other to not only bring justice, but to survive.

 

 

PRIME VIDEO'S MALICE

Prime Video has our dear Jack Whitehall as a manny in their new six episode thriller series MALICE which started this Friday. He plays a rather hot and charming tutor who infiltrates a wealthy family's life, revealing a sinister agenda. As his vengeful plot unfolds, the family must confront the enemy living under their own roof. David Duchovny and Carice van Houten play the parents of the family.

ITV and Australian Stan have released first trailer from their new TV series THE HACK with David Tennant, Robert Carlyle and Toby Jones in the lead roles of the show which revolves around the demise of Rupert Murdoch's News of the World, as well as the investigation and arrest of over 100 individuals, plus the subsequent Leveson Inquiry. Netflix has released a very dynamic and mysterious trailer for their new action movie EXTERRITORIAL which will be available for streaming from April 30th starring Barbarians' star Jeanne Goursaud as a soldier's

The film will stream from April 30th

whose son vanishes at a US consulate, so she illegally remains on the premises to search for him, unknowingly entangling herself in a dangerous conspiracy. When Special Forces soldier Sara visits the US consulate in Frankfurt with her young son, he suddenly disappears. Not only that, but no one seems to remember ever entering the building. Sara is asked to leave the consulate. But she knows that the German authorities have no access to the consulate. If she leaves now, she may never be allowed on the premises again. In the desperate search for her child, Sara goes into hiding in the labyrinth of the consulate, without suspecting that the noose of a dangerous intrigue is tightening around her neck. Dougray Scott also stars in the film both written and directed by Christian Zubert.

A bunch of new movie images for you today, starting with Gabriel Byrne as Samuel Beckett in DANCE FIRST biopic on the Waiting for Godot writer. With him as the famous Irish playwright, Aidan Gillen plays James Joyce. Maxine Peake also stars and Sandrine Bonnaire too as his wife. The story covers various phases in Beckett’s life from Parisian bon vivant, to World War II Resistance fighter, Nobel Prize-winning playwright, philandering husband and recluse. Its focus, however, is on Beckett’s reaction to winning the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1969, which was a turning point in his life as he grappled with his own inner demons. 

DYSTOPIAN THE BEAST

We also have first photos from Venice Film Festival dystopian romance THE BEAST from Bertrand Bonello set in a near future where artificial intelligence reigns supreme and human emotions have become a threat. Gabrielle (Lea Seydoux), a woman haunted by an irrational fear, is being told that she must purify her DNA to heal from past traumas in order to get a proper job. Through the process, Gabrielle revisits past lives and immerses herself in buried memories from 1910 and 2014, where she reunites with Louis (George MacKay), her great love. While their bond has transcended lifetimes and eras, it’s also at the root of her premonition that something tragic will happen. Beside Venice, the movie will also hit Toronto, New York and London film festivals.

WORLD WAR 2 SET IRENA'S VOW

There are also first two images from World War Two set movie IRENA'S VOW coming from director Louise Archambault and with Dougray Scott in the lead role. The movie will premiere September 10th at Toronto Film Festival following the life of 19-year-old Irena Gut (Sophie Nélisse), a housekeeper at the home of a high-ranking Nazi officer in Poland who hides a dozen Jewish workers in the basement of the German major’s house after she learns that the Jewish ghetto is about to be liquidated. The story is based on the true life of  Polish nurse Irene Gut Opdyke who was awarded the Righteous Among the Nations medal for showing remarkable courage in her attempt to save Polish Jews during World War II.

First up, we have A TOWN CALLED MALICE which should hit Sky channels around Europe from March 16th! Pitched as a blend of Dallas and Pulp Fiction to the sounds of Duran Duran, this neon-soaked, 80s-set cocktail of crime thriller stars Martha Plimpton as Mint Ma and Jason Flemyng as Albert Lord, our dear boy Lex Shrapnel as Leonard Lord with Eliza Butterworth as Carly Lord and Jack Rowan as Gene Lord alongside Tahirah Sharif in the role of Cindy Carter! Daniel Sharman and Dougray Scott are also in the cast.

A TOWN CALLED MALICE

 set amongst the beach clubs and palm trees of the Costa del Sol in the early 80s,  follows the Lords, a crime family of petty thieves from South London, as they decamp from London to Spain to profit from an unexpected windfall – and to escape the attention of the police in a high-profile murder enquiry. But while they hope to recapture their former glory, they spend as much time battling each other as they do their opponents.

It tells the story of how the family became to possess the largest private fortune in the world. They gained pre-eminence in the bullion trade during the Napoleonic Wars between 1803 and 1815 and Nathan Mayer Rothschild almost single handedly financed the British war effort. It will also portray a story about human relationships, fraternal struggles for dominance, of brilliant but disenfranchised women, of generational conflict, of incestuous alliances and of forbidden love with outsiders.
