Television news today, spylings, with a project we're looking forward to - science fiction Netflix series ALTERED CARBON written and produced by Avatar's Laeta Kalogridis. Earlier this summer I informed you that Joel Kinnaman will lead the cast and now he is joined by James Purefoy and others.

Takeshi Kovacs (Joel Kinnaman), a former elite interstellar warrior known as an Envoy who has been imprisoned for 500 years, is downloaded into a future he’d tried to stop. If he can solve a single murder in a world where technology has made death nearly obsolete, he’ll get a chance at a new life on Earth.

OTHER STARS IN THE CAST

The cast will also include Martha Higareda as Kristin Ortega, a smart and tough Lieutenant in the Bay City PD. She and her family are immigrants from the North LaTam Zone (an area that was once Mexico, Belize, Guatamala and El Salvador) and Ortega is following in the footsteps of her father, a cop who died heroically in the line of duty. James Purefoy is going to portray Laurens Bancroft. One of the super wealthy class known as Methuselahs, Bancroft is rich, influential, and over 500 years old. He is a man of contradictions, ruthlessly powerful yet unexpectedly moral, his deep passion for all the pleasures of life matched only by his need to exert iron control over everything around him. Dichen Lachman will be Reileen Kawahara, Takeshi Kovacs’ older sister, they share a dark and violent childhood. They were killers for hire who became revolutionaries, but always stayed at each other’s side until Reileen was killed. Leonardo Nam is set to play Stronghold Kovacs, the body Takeshi Kovacs was born into. As a young man, he joined the Uprising, fell in love, became an Envoy and then endured the loss of everyone and everything that mattered to him.

We're still sticking to the TV world today, people, starting with the news coming from Netflix where Joel Kinnaman has been cast to lead the new sf series ALTERED CARBON! It will be produced by AVATAR's Laeta Kalogridis, directed by GOT's Miguel Sapochnik based on Richard Morgan's bestseller.

NBC has, meanwhile, also released a trailer for another of the new series they've picked up this weekend. THIS IS US will star  Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia, Justin Hartley and Sterling K. Brown as people who are all born on the same day. It comes from Dan Fogelman whose GALAVANT has just been cancelled at ABC.

THE FIRST FOOTAGE REVEALED

A thrilling clip has been released today at CW showing the very first and very exciting footage from DC's WONDER WOMAN movie showing Gal Gadot as princess Diana of the Amazonians and also Chris Pine as her love interest Steve Trevor! It also shows WONDER WOMAN in some fight action and the two of them in the First World War days.

Currently in production, the movie scheduled for summer 2017 will probably have three settings from WONDER WOMAN's homeland of Themyscira, ruled by her mother Hippolyta queen of the Amazons (Connie Nielsen), to the World War One setting with Steve Trevor, and a modern day setting. Robin Wright, David Thewlis, Danny Huston, Elena Anaya also star. There are also rumours that Sean Bean might be portraying the lead villain in the movie. Only a day ago first promo art has also been released for JUSTICE LEAGUE movie in which Wonder Woman will appear just a few months after in November together with Superman (Henry Cavill), The Flash (Ezra Miller), Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and Cyborg with Green Lantern curiously missing from the photo.
