VISIT THE 13TH CENTURY RUSSIA IN THE FIRST IMAGES FROM DANIIL OF MOSCOW HISTORICAL TV SERIES

    DANIIL OF MOSCOW
FIRST IMAGES FROM NEW HISTORICAL SERIES
Straight from Russia today we have the first images from their new historical series DANIIL OF MOSCOW (Даниил Московский) which is being produced for their national broadcaster and for streamer Smotrim. While the role of Daniil Alexandrovich will be potrayed by Yuri Nasonov, the cast will also include Alexander Gorbatov, Sergey Bezrukov, Alexander Ustyugov, Angelina Poplavskaya, Anastasia Krasovskaya, Sergey Makhovikov, Yevgeny Romantsov and others. Daniil was the younger son of Alexander Nevsky and he was a peacekeeper who laid the foundations of Moscow and was the forefather of all their princes. The series continues Rossiya 1's lineup of their unforgettable historical sagas that included Sofia, Godunov, Grozniy and Prince Andrei.
THE STORY IS SET IN YEAR 1280
For forty years, the Russian lands have been under the yoke of the Golden Horde. Following the death of Alexander Nevsky, his domains were divided among his three sons: the eldest, Dimitri, rules in Vladimir; the middle son, Andrei, in Gorodets; and the youngest, Daniil, receives a modest patrimony along the banks of the Moskva River. The young Prince of Moscow strives to develop and fortify his territory, but he soon finds himself entangled in the dangerous intrigues of the Golden Horde and the power struggles between his own brothers. Daniel must endure a profound love and devastating losses, navigate through wars and conspiracies, and ultimately not only preserve his land but transform Moscow into the most powerful principality, destined to become the heart of Rus'.

  1. Una saga storica che promette intrighi, passioni e grandi conflitti, riportando in vita un’epoca cruciale per la nascita della potenza di Mosca.
    Buona giornata

  2. Interesting that the series starts with the youngest son getting only a small piece of land along the Moskva, and that this is how Moscow’s story begins.

    1. Sometimes the biggest stories begin from something very small.

  3. I knew nothing about Daniil of Moscow, but trying to be the peacemaker in that family must have been an impossible profession. The Russian historical series you bring us always look magnificent, and having Sergey Bezrukov in the cast gives this one another point in its favour. Now let us hope it eventually reaches Spain.
    A big hug.

P.S. I am completely hooked on the second season of The Serpent Queen. Mamma mia, what a mess in that palace!

    1. Bezrukov is such a great actor, and there is also Yevgeny Romantsov who is another of my fave, Russians have brilliant male actors.
Have in mind that Serpent Queen takes too much liberties and plays a lot with history for the sake of modern agenda. Catherine truly was a serpent, not such a helpless mommy like in the series, too bad they did not opt to portray her powerful and wicked as she was. Then again, the fact her husband's mistress really did govern her house and even her children, is true, but she avenged herself later on.

  5. I love the moody vibe of the stills. Another that we won't get to see, but if it ever does reach us, I'll be sure to check it out.

    1. I am currently reading Orlando Figes' massive study NATASHA'S DANCE on the cultural history of Russia, it has like 700 pages or something, so I am currently in this material to my neck.
