SEASON TWO TEASER TRAILER IS HERE

Disney Plus and Hulu are all ready to release the second season of their popular, super juicy and irreverent soapy series RIVALS which will arrive next week May 15th with first six episodes, with other six arriving on some later date and today we have the fun character posters to celebrate the incoming release. The series is based on a book by Dame Jilly Cooper.

WHAT IS THE STORY? 

It follows David  Tennant as an owner of a British TV station in the 80s and Aidan Turner as a TV host who forms a rival station with politician and sports star played by Alex Hassell. Filled with scandals, treachery, nudity and sex romp, the series was a huge hit. The second season will have even more wit, desire, and jaw-dropping twists. Power struggles intensify, rivalries deepen and ambition pushes loyalties to the brink. Set in the stunning Cotswolds countryside and against the backdrop of the glamorous, high-stakes world of 1980s British television, the second instalment reunites the all-star cast who captivated fans and critics, while introducing some exciting new faces. Following last season’s dramatic cliffhanger with Tony’s fate hanging in the balance, Lord Baddingham is back and out for vengeance ready to stop at nothing to keep Corinium’s empire unrivalled.  

WHO IS JOINING THE CAST? 

Joining the regular cast in the second season is Hayley Atwell who will portray Helen Gordon, the ex-wife of Rupert Campbell-Black and mother to his children Marcus and Tabitha. Rupert Everett will be Malise Gordon, her husband and Campbell-Black’s former show-jumping coach and mentor. Maxim Ays, Holly Cattle, Oliver Dench, Amanda Lawrence, Bobby Lockwood, Eliot Salt, and Jonny Weldon are also the new faces in the cast.

Straight from BBC and HBO we have the first look at buffed Richard Gadd in their new series HALF MAN in which he stars next to Jamie Bell as brothers Ruben and Niall, who reunite after years of estrangement, leading to an explosion of violence that catapults us back through their lives over the course of the series. Mitchell Robertson and Stuart Campbell will play them in their younger years in the six episode series that spans four decades from the 1980s to present day! Story explores highs and lows of Ruben and Niall’s relationship, from meeting them as troubled teenagers to witnessing their falling out as adults with all the good, bad, terrible, funny, angry and challenging moments along the way!

Disney Plus is about to start filming the 12 episode second season of their hit series RIVALS and have added Rupert Everett and Hayley Atwell to the cast of the show set in the glamorous world of 1980s British television against the backdrop of the Cotswolds countryside, with the second season dealing with heightened power struggles and deeper rivalries as careers, marriages and reputations hang in the balance. Over at Acorn TV they have added Tom Cavanagh and Amalia Williamson to their six part crime drama YOU ARE KILLING ME with Brooke Shields in the lead. Set in a quaint New England colonial town, formerly knows as Ally and Andi, follows bestselling novelist (Shields) who forms an unlikely alliance with Andi, an aspiring writer and podcaster (Williamson) to find the killer of a close friend. Cavanagh plays Jack, the new lead detective of the Founders Cove Police Department and former city slicker who is trying to acclimate to the quirks of small-town life.

This one definitely has quite a cast: Derek Jacobi as the Friar, Jason Isaacs as lord Montague, Rupert Everett as lord Capulet, Rupert Graves as prince Escalaus, Clara Rugaard as Juliet, Jamie Ward as Romeo, Rebel Wilson as lady Capulet, all star in JULIET AND ROMEO, Timothy Scott Bogart’s pop Romeo & Juliet musical, the first film in an original pop musical trilogy based around the real-life story that inspired Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Ferdia Walsh-Peelo and Dan Fogler are also starring in the film which was originally supposed to arrive two years ago titled Verona but is now finally being released into cinemas from May 9th and you can check out the first colourful trailer below and tell us what you think. Grammy award winner Ewan Kidd Bogart was responsible for the original songs in the movie. He is known for Beyonce's Halo.

Funny Woman starts February 9th

With Peacock ordering new dramedy series Cleo, a feminist take on Egyptian queen Cleopatra (which we cannot wait not to see), there is another period set comedy coming much sooner: although it seems I mentioned it first a very long time ago and that it has taken years for FUNNY WOMAN to find its way onto the small screens, the six part comedy series will finally arrive to Sky Max February 9th and also to their streamer NOW! This comedy about a fictional British comedy actor, based on Nick Hornby's popular best selling book, has Gemma Arterton as the titular funstress with Rupert Everett, David Threlfall, and hunky Tom Bateman also in the cast. 

 

  FUNNY GIRL STORY

 It's the height of the swinging 60s and Barbara Parker has just been crowned Miss Blackpool - but there's got to be more to life than being a beauty queen in a seaside town, right? She wants to be... someone. The bright lights of London are calling, and our determined hero sets off to find out who that someone is. The London she encounters is not as quite as swinging as the one she'd read about and seen on TV. However, after a series of setbacks Barbara finds herself in unfamiliar territory - an audition for a TV comedy show.
