Prime Video's epic TV series adaptation of popular game GOD OF WAR has just added Marie Antoinette's king Louis Cunningham and Ben Chapple to the cast. Cunningham will play Modi, Sif and Thor’s middle child who has a gentle disposition and an obsessive, almost insatiably curious mind. He loves puzzles and complex problems, to such an extent that he often gets lost within them and forgets everything else around him. Chapple will play Magni, Sif and Thor’s eldest son. Handsome and adventurous, Magni is an excellent hunter and natural ladies’ man, but the life of an immortal playboy has begun to feel hollow and Magni is yearning for a greater purpose. He is extremely protective of his younger brother, Modi.

Prime Video has released the first look at Ryan Hurst and Callum Vinson as Kratos and Atreus in GOD OF WAR epic series as they embark on a journey to spread the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye. Through their adventures, Kratos tries to teach his son to be a better god, while Atreus tries to teach his father how to be a better human. Mandy Patinkin stars as Odin, Ed Skrein as Baldur, Max Parker as Heimdall, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor, Teresa Palmer as Sif, Alastair Duncan as Mimir, Jeff Gulka as Sindri and Danny Woodburn as Brok.

KING LUDWIG II HISTORICAL TV SERIES

Beta Film together with German ARD and Swiss SRF is preparing historical series LUDWIG on Bavarian king Ludwig II who took the throne in 1864 and was considered to be a bit mad spending lavishly on outlandish and extraordinary projects like building castles on the top of the mountains. The series follows psychologist Gustav Zimmermann (Felix Mayr) who is tasked with reviewing a psychiatric report on the King (Luis Pintsch), a document that will ultimately determine whether he is declared incompetent to rule. This work brings him closer to revealing the secrets of the royal ruler: his struggles with power, his longing for freedom and his profound forbidden love. Aaron Friesz, Carlotta Bähre, Jonathan Kriener also star.

 

  ROBIN HOOD RENEWED FOR SEASON TWO

Meanwhile, MGM Plus has renewed their epic series ROBIN HOOD for the second season with Jack Patten, Sean Bean and Connie Nielsen. Season two expands the world beyond Sherwood and Nottingham into the treacherous courts of England, France, and Rome, transforming the outlaw rebellion into a high stakes battle for the soul of a kingdom. Ed Skrein has been cast as Baldur in Prime Video's TV series adaptation of GOD  OF WAR game. He is the youngest son of Odin (Mandy Pitinkin), charismatic, unpredictable and armed with a razor-sharp tongue, Baldur lives by his own rules. As a boy, Baldur was cursed; this curse denied him the ability to feel pleasure and physical sensation. This fuels an insatiable anger and bloodlust in Baldur, who favors a brawling fighting style that blends his immense power with the raw impact of his fists. Above all else, he longs for an opponent that can truly match his prowess in battle. An opponent that can finally make him feel something.

Prime Video has told us earlier this week that the leads for their epic TV series adaptation of popular game GOD OF WAR will be Ryan Hurst and Teresa Palmer but now they also added our gorgeous Max Parker. The series will see Hurst play Kratos who with his 10-year-old son Atreus, embarks on a journey to spread the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye. Teresa Palmer, will play Phoebe/Sif, Thor’s wife and the goddess of family! Max Parker will star as Heimdall, the Watchman of Asgard and one of the sons of Odin. Heimdall is a god in his own right with the special ability to anticipate what’s about to happen at any moment. Handsome and dynamic, he feels unappreciated by his father and underestimated by the rest of the family, and as a result is constantly looking for ways to improve his position in the hierarchy and increase his stature and

ARRIVES IN MARCH TO PBS

PBS Masterpiece has released first teaser from the third season of their historical costume drama SANDITON based on Jane Austen's final work. To air from March 19th, it will also be the finale of the whole series which stars Rose Williams as Charlotte Heywood, Cai Brigden as Ralph Starling, Ben Lloyd-Hughes as Alexander Colbourne, Edward Davis as Lord Montrose and Crystal Clarke as Georgiana Lambe. After Leo Suter and Theo James who left season one, the third season will no longer have the character of Esther, lady Babington, played by Charlotte Spencer and we are guessing Tom Weston Jones' character has left the town as well. Joining the series are several new characters that will surely bring drama, laughter, and romance along with them. Lady Montrose (Emma Fielding) is described as the quintessential Jane Austen mother figure, who arrives at Sanditon with one objective: matches for her children, Lydia and Henry. Lydia (Alice Orr-Ewing) is an independent young woman who is not as eager for a match as her mother. Lord Henry Montrose (Edward Davis) is described as charismatic and confident, but he holds a secret. Rowleigh Pryce (James Bolam) is a wealthy, curmudgeonly investor who is interested in teaming up with Tom Parker on the seaside resort's expansion. Their plans become complicated when Rowleigh runs into Lady Denham. Also new to Sanditon is Alexander's brother, Samuel Colbourne (Liam Garrigan), who is a lawyer and a charming bachelor.

Since it is still Easter Monday and Hollywood is sleeping or stuffing itself with its chocolate eggs, we're moving over to good old imperial China with a quick spotlight on two of the upcoming Asian action packed historical projects. First one, the much anticipated GOD OF WAR which should storm into Chinese theatres at the very end of May this year starring Hung Sammo, Zhao Vincent, Wan Quian and Kurata Yasuaki.

THE 16TH CENTURY PIRATES
The story is set during the 16th century, when Japanese pirates proliferated along the Chinese coastline. In 1557, the pirates take over Cengang in Zhejiang. After months of futile advances, Commander Yu finally defeats them under the leadership of newly promoted General Qi. The Pirates, however, manage to escape.

 'BROTHERHOOD OF BLADES 2'

THE ACTION PACK IS BACK!

There is also the first teaser trailer, visually quite stunning, for new Chinese epic adventure BROTHERHOOD OF BLADES 2, which is actually a prequel of the prize winning 2014 Chinese blockbuster set in the age of the Ming dynasty. To open in cinemas this August it will star Chang Chen, Yang Mi and Zhang Yi. During an investigation, Shen Lian becomes the victim of a conspiracy after he is setup to take the fall as the suspect. In order to prove his innocence, he joins hands with a female painter and his allies.
