Netflix has published new character
photos from their new epic series
CURSED with
Katherine Langford as Lady Nimue from Arthurian legends,
Devon Terrell as King Arthur (who is suddenly a black man, go

Gustaf Skarsgard as Merlin. The ten episode saga will
be a re imagining of the famous legend, told through the eyes of Nimue,
a teenage heroine with a mysterious gift who is destined to become the
powerful and tragic Lady of the Lake.

After her mother’s death, she finds an unexpected partner in Arthur, a
young mercenary, in a quest to find Merlin and deliver an ancient

Colour-blind casting is about the only novelty left to try in the endless remakes of the Arthurian Legends.

DeleteA curse is not a light matter. Three political figures (a palestinian, Yasser Arafat, president of the PLO) and two israeli PM, Yzhak Rabin and Ariel Sharon) died as a result of being cursed by extremists in a ceremony called Pulsa deNura. Arafat was poisoned, Rabin was shot, Sharon got a massive stroke whch left him in a state of vegetation; he never regained consciousness.
ReplyDeleteThat is nasty, indeed. There is something in strong negative energy being focused onto a target for sure. Not that I mind most of politicians getting cursed :)
DeleteWell, color-blind casting is the hot new PC thing to do. Otherwise some people are going to get their panties in a bunch and we just can't have that now, can we?
ReplyDeleteIndeed, they've put people of colour in Poldark now too, even based the whole final season around it, even though there was not a sign of it for years in the series.

2. For inclusion purpose why BBC don't produce a series on Winston Churchill played by black actor
Given how they cast actors, I'm afraid they'd cast Woopie Goldberg to play me in a biopic about my life... it doesn't matter that she is female and black... it wouldn't matter to them :)
