HOLLYWOOD SPY'S UPCOMING STARS feature. So here's the first part, with some of this year's breakthrough young stars.
SAM CLAFLIN
We've been supporting talented and dashing young Brit Sam Claflin for some time now here at HOLLYWOOD SPY and we are happy that this year he has managed to charm the audience with his role in PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES. The post in which I wrote about him previously has had almost 10,000 readings since the premiere of the film. We first noticed his charisma and warm presence in PILLARS OF THE EARTH epic series and then in sf mini series THE LOST FUTURE beside Sean Bean. He already has two lucrative lead roles in two future blockbusters: he will play the prince in SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN beside Charlize Theron, and a young magician in fantasy epic THE SEVENTH SON beside Julianne Moore and Jeff Bridges. He's the next big thing, mind what I say :)
JENNIFER LAWRENCE
She's unusual, since unlike other young stars, she didn't draw attention to her with her looks (which are definitely breathtaking, deeply charismatic and sensual) but with her critically acclaimed role in THE WINTER BONE for which she got an Oscar nomination as the second youngest actress in the best female role category ever. And then she basically sealed the deal by scoring two huge roles: the role of powerful Mystique in X-MEN: FIRST CLASS and then the lead role in the biggest of the upcoming YA fantasy films THE HUNGER GAMES. That pretty much brought her millions of fans around the world. She is already quite a sex symbol.HENRY CAVILL
To me he's already one of the biggest stars, and one of my favourite celebs for many years now, but it seems that Henry Cavill's time is finally coming. After spellbinding us all with his role of Duke Charles Brandon in the four seasons of the cult TV show THE TUDORS (in which he marvelously depicted the just, loyal and honorable Duke who later on gets haunted by his own conscience for doing deeds the king and the state demanded from him) he will finally shine in the lead roles of two of the biggest upcoming blockbusters: he will be brave Theseus in Greek epic IMMORTALS this winter after which he shall take the cape of the brave Superman in THE MAN OF STEEL. He also plays the lead in 2012 action thriller THE COLD LIGHT OF DAY beside Bruce Willis and Sigourney Weaver. Before THE TUDORS you saw him in STARDUST,
TRISTAN & ISOLDE, THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO and BLOOD CREEK. And yes, he is also British, which is how we like our thespians best :) Click if you want to read our long post about him from back when he won THE BEST BRITISH ACTOR poll at HOLLYWOOD SPY.
Stay tuned for the second part of the upcoming stars list!
LINK OF THE DAY Don't forget to visit our dear David tomorrow at his SICK BY TREND, where he's reporting live from Gucci show in Milan! He's there, people, live at the show :)
proves how out of touch i am, i haven't seen any of these actors yet.
ReplyDeleteThat's why they are THE UPCOMING STARS, E :)
ReplyDeleteOh how the hotness pours from my monitor. These are outstanding, classy, but sexy pictures. Such awesome talents they are. I love all three of them and can't wait to see them in their upcoming projects. You are the Hollywood Spymaster, my friend. :)
ReplyDeleteLOL :))I told you it will be hot but stylish :) And they are all amazing talents and future kings and queens of Hollywood :)
ReplyDeleteGood picks, Dez. I like them all. Jennifer Lawrence was great in Winter's Bone. And I liked Henry Cavill in the Tudors, but I don't remember him being in Stardust. I may have to watch that one again. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't remember him from STARDUST either, but there were so many actors and cameos in that film, that it's no wonder :)
ReplyDeleteWho was your favourite in THE TUDORS? Mine were him and Queen Catherine of Aragon, played magnificently by Maria Doyle Kennedy.
Hi Dezzy - I've already added PILLARS OF THE EARTH to my Netflix instant queue. I'm sure it'll be great.
ReplyDeleteAnd may I say, it was because of you my family and I started watching MERLIN. What I great show!!! Just saying, THANKS!!!
Cavill was my favorite to look at. I think you're right, Kennedy was great in her role, very believable, but I also liked Johnathan Rhys Meyers. He has such an interesting face -- even though he looks nothing like Henry VIII. The whole cast was beautiful to look at really. :)
ReplyDeleteI loved Henry, as Duke Charles Brandon, on the Tudors. He and Queen Catherine of Aragon were my favs! Both parts were played brilliantly~ I loved hating Jonathan Rhys Meyers,though~
ReplyDeleteI have had Winter Bone in my Netflix queue for awhile...so I do know who she is. I am not familiar with Sam, but look forward to his work~
I am sooo happy for Henry!!!
Lawrence looked definitely hawt in those photos! From these 3, she's the only 1 I like :)
ReplyDeleteJennifer Lawrence, wow oh wow...
ReplyDeleteJennifer Lawrence: she must be having the time of her life. Good for her. :)
ReplyDelete@Shells
ReplyDeleteglad you and your loved ones like MERLIN :) The fourth season should start in September. The only thing I hate about it is that horrid Gwen, the rest I like. PILLARS were nice, but don't expect too much, the plot was a bit boring, although the show did have amazing actors like Rufus Sewell, Ian McShane, Eddie Redmayne, Sam Claflin, David Oakes ... When it comes to BBC, I think you would also enjoy CRANFORD, I loved it dearly :)
@Luanne
Cavill was gorgeous in it, but he also had a great performance, especially later on after the religious wars in the fourth season. Jonathan Rhys Meyers is always amazing, simply amazing. I hope you watched him in EMPERORS WIFE, MATCHPOINT and CHILDREN OF HUANG SHI,those were three breathtaking performances from him. I'm sorry that he has addiction problem in his private life, he is such a huge huge talent!

@Ella
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you agree with me on Charles Brandon and Queen Catherine, probably the only two fully positive characters in the show, beside Jane Seymor, but she had a relatively short role in the last season. I'm sorry that THE BORGIAS from the similar creators weren't as great as THE TUDORS.
@Jaccsy
ReplyDeletehe he I knew me boys would find the pictures of Jen Lawrence especially inspiring :))And you'll get your share of spanking from me for not liking Cavill and Claflin as soon as my nanny duty starts!
@Germs
he he :)
Wow is the reaction we were looking for!
@HiFi
indeed she is, and her real success is yet to come!
That Henry Cavill is quite a good looking man.
ReplyDeleteindeed he is, a dashing young man :)
ReplyDeletethis is a great new feature dezz!
ReplyDeletei'm always looking at people in movies and going ??? ???? where did i see them before??? and this kinda helps with the upandcomers! very cool!
glad you like it, Vics. Posts like these and my HOLLYWOOD SPY SPOTLIGHTS in which I present just one film, usually don't attract many comments but are the ones which attract the biggest number of visits and readings later on and put me high in Goggle search lists :) Two of my most visited posts ever THE ONE OF MYSTIQUE MOVIE with Rebecca Romijn and the one with Sam Claflin in PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN, both had less than ten comments but they also had around 10,000 readings each.
