BritBox' upcoming new original series based on the works of Agatha Christie TOMMY AND TUPPENCE with Imelda Staunton, Antonia Thomas and Josh Dylan who play Tommy and Tuppence a detective duo for the ages, has started production and we have the first photo. They fall in love, fall out of it, and tumble back in, all while solving some thrilling, entertaining mysteries along the way. Tuppence is an actress and force of nature who won’t take no for an answer. Tommy is a meticulous, charming crime writer who has lost his passion but finds it again when whirlwind Tuppence re-enters his life. Staunton is Aunt Ada, a wry, retired private detective who loves her nephew, Tommy, because he never undermines her – only a fool would do so. Callie Cooke will star as Detective Sergeant Draper; Nicholas Richardson as film producer Julius; Charlie Condou as pub landlady Albert; and Chizzy Akudolu as Detective Inspector Merriot. Alex Jennings and Saffron Burrows will guest star with Sebastian de Souza and Sean Pertwee.

NEW TV SERIES FROM CHANNEL 5

This one somehow escaped my radar, but new four part thriller mini series THE NIGHT CALLER will start on Channel 5 on Sunday July 7th and will air each evening till Wednesday. If I got it right it is already available over on Acorn TV channel on Prime Video.

  THE NIGHT CALLER FOLLOWS  

Tony (Robert Glenister), a 50-something, lonely Liverpudlian taxi driver who used to be a respected teacher but lost his job, his marriage and his confidence. His only lifelines are Rosa (Suzanne Packer), a café worker, and a late-night talk show he listens to as he drives his customers around. The show is fronted by DJ Lawrence (Sean Pertwee) and one day Tony finds the courage to call in. He becomes a ‘friend of the show’ which gives him a sense of identity for the first time in years. But eventually he starts to interpret Lawrence’s views in dangerous ways and becomes obsessed with their relationship. Then, Tony realises Lawrence isn’t the man he pretends to be.
