EMBERS AS DIRECTORIAL DEBUT

Lovely Christian Cooke, whom we have last seen in Barkskins epic series and Agatha Christie's Ordeal by Innocence, will star in EMBERS movie

Embers will be Christian Cooke's directorial debut

which will also see him as a helmer for the first time. As Screen Daily writes, the movie follows a sexual surrogate who is employed to help a psychiatric patient overcome his intimacy issues after 18 years of high security incarceration. Cooke will star as the patient, with Ruth Bradley playing the surrogate. The cast also includes David Wilmot, Samuel Anderson, Sam Philips, Judith Roddy and Clare Perkins. It is an unapologetic exploration of sexual surrogacy and its use as an alternative psychiatric treatment. It poses the question, why such intimacy therapy isn’t more accessible. You will also see Christian in That Dirty Black Bag Wild West TV series later this year over at AMC.

Viola Davis takes the lead role in The Woman King

this movie tells the story of Nanisca, the General of the all-female military unit known as the Amazons, and her daughter Nawi, who together fought the French and neighboring tribes who violated their honor, enslaved their people

The Woman King will arrive to cinemas this September

and threatened to destroy everything they’ve lived for. It will be interesting to see how the film will cover up the historical fact that the Amazons actually sold their subjects to the Europeans as it was very lucrative for them.

A Rough Draft already played in Russian cinemas

Russian sf movies all day today for you! Northern American rights have just been secured for Russian sf hit A ROUGH DRAFT (Chernovik) which already played in domestic cinemas earlier this spring. Set in and around the concept of open world video gaming, it follows a video game designer (Nikita Volkov) who is stripped of his identity and recruited by a mysterious force to be the gatekeeper of a multi dimensional portal. Kirill’s identity has been eliminated. Erased from the memories of everyone around him, and he will now be forced to serve as the gatekeeper of a portal that connects parallel worlds. The movie will hit US cinemas next year.

Also waiting to arrive into cinemas next year (in Russia as well) is science fiction adventure PROJECT GEMINI (Звездный разум) which also stars Nikita Volkov! In the near future, the Earth faces death due to a global environmental crisis. A chance for salvation is an international project to create a new home for humanity ... in space. A space mission with a unique terraforming facility is sent to a suitable exoplanet. This device should create suitable conditions for human life on another planet. However, an accident occurs in flight on a spacecraft, which breaks the link with the Earth and prevents the crew from returning. And on another planet, astronauts are waiting for something incomprehensible, a collision with which endangers the mission and, as a result, the survival of humanity. Now the fate of the Earth is decided in space.
