WHATEVER SITCOM

Netflix has ventured into multicam sitcom waters again with MERRY HAPPY WHATEVER a holiday themed comedy with an eight episode order for the first Christmas season (potential new seasons would follow other holidays). Dennis Quaid will play Don Quinn, a strong willed patriarch who must balance the demands of his complicated family with the stress of the Christmas season when his youngest daughter comes home for the holidays with a new boyfriend.

CBS also has a pilot for THE UNICORN which, inspired by a true story, follows a widower who is eager to move on from the most difficult year of his life, only to realize he’s utterly unprepared to raise his two daughters on his own and equally unprepared for the dating world — where, to his shock, he’s suddenly a hot commodity. Their third new multicam sitcom pilot is for OUR HOUSE following a devoted mom and dad who are committed to raising their children with the love and support the mom never got as a kid but discover how difficult that is with her insane parents and siblings back in the picture.

NANA & UNITED WE FALL AT ABC

ABC has ordered a pilot for multicam sitcom NANA which will see Josh Cooke play an obsessive dad, who after the death of his wife, is forced to invite his brash and bawdy mother-in-law Nana (Katey Sagal) into his home

to help raise the two granddaughters she barely knows. They also have a pilot for UNITED WE FALL a profoundly realistic, multicultural family sitcom that shows how, when two people with young children and overzealous extended families truly love each other, barely anything is possible.

NBC has, meanwhile, found stars for their multicam sitcom UNINSURED in which Adam Pally and Abby Elliott will play young parents Dave and

Over at Fox, they've cast Maggie Lawson to lead multicam sitcom pilot GENIUSES as the mom of a blue collar family in South Jersey trying to get by while raising four kids, three of whom just happen to be certified geniuses. Jason Biggs will play the father of the family. Fox has also rounded up cast for another of their new multicamera sitcom pilots hiring Carra Patterson, Sarah Levy, Paola Lázaro and Joanna Adler to all star in PATTY'S AUTO a comedy

It's that time of the year when networks are ordering sitcom pilots which may or (usually) may not get turned into regular series later on. Fox has ordered a pilot for multicam sitcom GENIUSES that might become a companion for their hit show Last Man Standing. It will follow a blue collar couple in South Jersey trying to get by and raise four kids, three of whom just happen to be certified geniuses. They've also ordered PATTY'S AUTO pilot about an auto repair shop with all female mechanics from Roseanne's producer Darlene Hunt and Elizabeth Banks.

NBC has given a green light to FRIENDS IN LAW comedy pilot (which was in the run last year as well) about two men, who are polar opposites but who must quickly figure out how to coexist when their respective best friends decide to get married. CBS is doing the same by also giving a second chance to one of their last year's pilots which never got into production - CAROL'S SECOND ACT in which Everybody Love's Raymond and cooking star Patricia Heaton plays a woman who after raising her two children and retiring from teaching, embarks on a unique second act: she’s going to become a doctor. They also have a pilot for TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN which follows Evan who sets out with his group of 20-something friends to accomplish a list of challenges he wrote for himself years ago in an effort to turn around his banal life.
