It won't arrive until October this year, but Netflix has released a fun first trailer for their French original family movie adventure FAMILY PACK

(Loups Garous) based on the Werewolf video game and starring Jean Reno, Frank Dubosc, Suzanne Clement, Jonathan Lambert and Gregory Fitoussi.

Shot in Czech capital Prague, this big budget family action adventure fantasy comedy movie follows a family who, after discovering a mysterious card game, is thrust back in time to a medieval village where they must fend off dangerous werewolves each night. Arriving in the small 15th century village of Thiercelieux, they understand that monsters attack the inhabitants. They're going to have to find out who the culprits are. Francois Uzan directed this family friendly romp. Check out the fun trailer below:

New film will follow T.A. Barron's saga

Although Ridley Scott was supposed to return to the medieval world after his Last Duel (which is currently proving to be a major flop in cinemas most probably for the worst casting the world has even seen outside the latest Dune snoozefest) he will be replaced by Michael Matthews (Love and Monsters) as Disney has hired him to helm their MERLIN movie, based on T. A. Barron's book series.  As Deadline reports, the film, which is in very early stages of production, will follow the origin story of a young Merlin who would go on to become the mentor of the classic literary character King Arthur.

mentioned that France 3 is preparing a two 90 minute episode mini series DIANE DE POITIERS in which Isabelle Adjani will play the titular royal courtesan, who, endowed with insolent beauty and daring manager intermingling with politics, shared with King Henry II (Nicolas Duvauchelle), twenty years her junior, the most burning passion in the history of France. In so doing, she defeated two dangerous rivals: the sovereign whose name was to associate her name with the bloody Saint Bartholomew and a royal favorite educated in the art of poisons. Jean Reno, Jeanne Balibar and Mathieu Amalric will also star in this 16th century historical saga. It is interesting that almost 20 years after playing queen Margot, the daughter in law of Catherine de Medici, Adjani will now play the lover of Catherine's husband.

French TV is preparing Germinal series

In our insanely popular Mega Massive spotlight on all the period set and epic TV series and films to expect in 2021, I mentioned that the only period set series scheduled to launch this year in France is GERMINAL but we will have two more. This mall screen adaptation of Emile Zola's famous novel will see Louis Peres leading the series as our late 19th century hero Etienne Lantier, a miner in love with a young woman courted by a brutal worker, who will push his comrades to strike when the mining company lowers wages. Alix Poisson, Guillaume de Tonquédec, Sami Bouajila and Thierry Godard also star in the six episode series that will also air on Italian RAI.

Eiffel should hit French cinemas in March

Currently scheduled for March 10th cinematic release, it follows Romain Duris as Gustave Eiffel who, having just finished his collaboration on the Statue of Liberty, is at the peak of his career. The French government wants him to create something spectacular for the 1889 Universal Exhibition in Paris, but Eiffel is only interested in the metropolitan project. Everything changes when he crosses paths with his youthful love (Emma Mackey). Their forbidden relationship inspires him to change the Paris skyline forever. The World War II tale has a rather strong cast (at least on paper) led by Anjelica Huston (who obviously has time to put fresh tacky make up on her face in the middle of war and poverty), Jean Reno, Thomas Kretschmann, Sadie Frost. The story revolves around Jo Lalande (judging by the trailer a rather unconvincing Noah Schnapp), a 13 year old shepherd, and a widow, Horcada (Anjelica Huston), who help smuggle Jewish children across the border from southern France into Spain during the war. Ben Cookson both wrote and directed the movie.

Jean Reno stars in this one as well, together with Jared Harris and Hopper Penn, Sean's son (yep, it ain't nepotism at all).
