While Jason Momoa is slowly preparing to rule the aquatic world as Aquaman, he will first patrol the FRONTIER in the new historical scripted epic series which will start airing in Canada on their Discovery Channel from November 6th and sometime later on at Netflix (everywhere around the world except in Canada) as well, depicting the chaotic and violent struggle to control wealth and power in the North American fur trade in the late 18th century. Today you can check out the first poster for the upcoming series and also some of the cast pictures and as you can see the costumes will feature a lot of fur (worn by beautiful animals and ugly humans) as one needed to protect oneself somehow back in the 18th century from the freezing Canadian winter!

Told from multiple perspectives, the six episode series takes place in a world where business negotiations might be resolved with close quarter hatchet fights and where delicate relations between native tribes and Europeans can spark bloody conflicts. The cast includes Alun Armstrong (Braveheart), Landon Liboiron (Hemlock Grove), Zoe Boyle (Downton Abbey), Allan Hawco (The Book of Negroes) and Jessica Matten while Evan Jonigkeit plays Captain Chesterfield, the right hand to Lord Benton (Alun Armstrong) and the nemesis of Declan Harp (Jason Mamoa). He is a vicious man who lives by a code. From humble beginnings he has become politically motivated in this new and unpredictable world. Merlin's and Dracula's Kathie McGrath also stars taking one of the female roles.

A KINGDOM UNTO ITSELF

The opening episode will see  Michael Smyth (Landon Liboiron) landing in the New World on an HBC ship where he is ordered by Lord Benton to venture into the Frontier in search of fur trader Declan Harp, the man responsible for the murder of Benton’s soldiers at a remote outpost.

In the photo department today, EW has released first two photos from sf movie PASSENGERS with Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence set on a luxury interstellar spaceship with 5,000 passengers travelling to the Homestead II colony 120 years away. They are all travelling in suspended animation, but when Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence's characters are mistakenly awakened 90 years too early, they discover that the ship is malfunctioning, putting everyone in danger. The movie is out this December, so we should expect a trailer soon!

Over at CBS, they've cast Joel McHale to lead THE GREAT INDOORS sitcom as a magazine editor for 'The Great Outdoors' who, after an injury, has to leave mountain climbing for a desk job where he is in charge of a group of millenniums at the magazine's social media department, leading a much younger staff without driving himself nuts.

In other TV news, HUNGER GAMES director Francis Lawrence will turn Neil Gaiman's  NEVERWHERE book into a TV series for BBC2! When Richard Mayhew encounters an injured girl named Door on the street one night, he decides to help her despite his fiancée’s protests. Upon doing so he ceases to exist on Earth and becomes real only to the denizens of “London Below,” whose inhabitants are generally invisible and non existent to the people of “London Above.” He loses his house, his job and nearly his mind as he travels London Below in an attempt to make sense out of it all, find a way back and help Door survive as she is hunted down by hired assassins.
