Netflix has released a rather lovely trailer for their new original Australian series MY BRILLIANT CAREER which will be available for streaming from August 13th! Based on the Miles Franklin novel, the six part saga sees Philippa Northeast playing Sybylla, a fiercely modern young woman with one burning ambition: to be a writer, even as her family pushes her toward marriage. Sybylla breaks every convention of 1900 Australia as she chases a story that could write her way to independence,
until she falls in love. Will she marry, or risk it all for a creative life? Christopher Chung stars as Harry, Anna Chancellor as Mrs Bossier,
Genevieve O’Reilly as Helen, Kate Mulvany as Augusta, Jake Dunn as Frank, Alexander England as Julius, Sherry-Lee Watson as Nell and Miah Madden as Betty.

DeleteI didn't find it enchanting at all. The music! And to think that Harry Beecham played by our beloved Sir Sam is now Chinese! Don't get me wrong. I love Christopher in Slow Horses, but it's grotesue that he pretends to be a Caucasian at a time when Chinese were experiencing horrible discrimination in Australia.

DeleteI don't know if he was a stable boy, but I'd take the hot, young thing over the old fart with money any day of the week if I were her. She seems to write smut, so she'd probably have a lot more fun with the help than the money man.
