JACKDAWS
TO BECOME WW2 TV SERIES AT NETFLIX
Netflix is teaming up with French broadcaster TF1 on a six episode TV series adaptation of Ken Follett's war drama JACKDAWS (Le reseau
corneille)! Set in May 1944, just days before the D-Day landings, it tells the story of Elisabeth “Betty” Clairet (Laetitia Casta), a widowed mother who is tasked with assembling an unlikely commando of five civilian women to carry out a near-impossible mission: infiltrate an impenetrable château housing a key German communications hub and destroy it before the Normandy landings by the Allies. With only a week to prepare, the women must cross occupied territory, assume false identities and infiltrate the heavily guarded fortress by posing as cleaning staff to sabotage the underground communications network. Mathilde Seigner, Lina El Arabi and Michaël Youn round up the lead cast.

Is JACKDAWS a code or something?
ReplyDeleteIt is a type of small bird.
DeleteGuinchie è una piccola follia luminosa: corre, inciampa, ride… e ti trascina nel suo caos tenero.

Buona giornata, Silvia
DeleteDezmond, I think this book is very interesting!
ReplyDeleteKen Follett always has lovely, epic books, he once even retweeted us back when we were promoting TV series based on his books World Without End and Pillars of the Earth.
DeleteDezmond, this film (not a book) is very interesting.
ReplyDeleteHope they will turn it into an interesting series.
DeleteKen Follett knows exactly where to press, and when you add Netflix and a French production into the mix, expectations go up. Five civilian women as the leads at one of the most decisive moments in history that’s not something just any writer or screenwriter can pull off. Laetitia Casta feels like a perfect choice; she has that mix of fragility and determination the role calls for. And the idea of them infiltrating while posing as cleaners… cleaners have always known more than they let on. This goes straight onto my must-watch list. A hug, and thank you for always bringing us the best.
ReplyDeleteIt is sometimes a struggle to find news daily, especially as I do not cover horror, crime, gore and superheroes, but I do try as much as I can to go global and cover all the interesting ones. Last seven days have been quite dry in the movie news business.
