We are still in France, people, as both with the sales over at Cannes and their own announced projects they have a lot for us period set drama lovers! December 27th has been announced as the release date for historical adventure
THE EDGE OF BLADE (
Une affaire d'honneur) which is both directed by
Vincent Peres and has him in the cast! The story is set in Paris 1887. At that time, only the duel prevailed to defend one's honor. Clément Lacaze, charismatic fencing master finds himself caught in a spiral of destructive violence. He meets Marie-Rose Astié, a feminist ahead of her time, and decides to teach her the complex art of dueling. They will face provocations and unite to defend their respective honor.
FIRST BOLERO PICTURE
Speaking
of
Vincent Perez, I have first image from another historical movie in
which he also stars:
BOLERO from
Anne Fontaine, starring
Raphael
Personnaz as famous composer Maurice Ravel! The movie, set in
the
roaring 1920s, follows the boundary-pushing Russian dancer and
choreographer Ida Rubinstein (
Jeanne Balibar) as she selects Maurice
Ravel to compose the music for her next ballet. Ravel ends up creating
his greatest success ever: Boléro.
We just finished a schwedische TV series called Menschen in Angst (Anxious People in English, I think)..a kind of thriller-comedy.
ReplyDeleteHope you liked it.
DeleteSorry to display my lack of knowledge but I'm unfamiliar with these actors. The stories might be interesting - at least it's something different from endless remakes of The Three Musketeers.
ReplyDeletePerez has been one of the biggest French stars for at least three decades now, you probably seen him in Queen Margot famous epic movie when he was young and he did star in a lot of international productions as well.
DeleteI’m not sure I’d like the first, simply because I do not understand fencing. But Bolero I’m sure I would enjoy!
ReplyDeleteIt is interesting that in that historical period French women also dueled with swords for honour, but they did it with their titties nekkid LOL There are even some paintings depicting this curious tradition.
DeleteDa heck? LOL Sounds like some wild times!
DeleteTrue story!
