'VICTORIA' EPIC TV SERIES
FIRST JENNA COLEMAN PHOTO
ITV has released the first photo today of Jenna Coleman as the ruthless British enslaver Queen VICTORIA in their new historical series which will have a 90 minute opening episode followed by seven hourlong ones. Charting her early life from accepting the crown at age 18 till her marriage to Prince Albert, the drama will also have Rufus Sewell as Lord Melbourne, Victoria's first prime minister and her intimate friend which started many rumours back in the day. The ensemble cast also includes Paul Rhys as Sir John Conroy, the ambitious controller of the Duchess of Kent’s household, who controlled Victoria’s upbringing, hoping to rule through her, when she came to the throne. Peter Firth is queen’s conniving uncle the Duke of Cumberland, and Catherine Flemming is the Duchess of Kent, Queen Victoria’s mother. Eve Myles is Mrs Jenkins, the Queen’s senior dresser.
'OF KINGS AND PROPHETS'
LOUIS TALPE IS PRINCE ELIAB
In other news from epic TV series 'Deadline' reports that Belgian actor Louis Talpe has landed a season long recurring role on ABC’s midseason drama OF KINGS AND PROPHETS. Postponed for recasting and reshooting after a rather terrible first trailer, it is an epic Biblical saga of faith, ambition and betrayal as told through the eyes of a battle weary king, a powerful and resentful prophet and a resourceful young shepherd on a collision course with destiny. Talpe will play Eliab, King David’s (Oliver Rix) proud and single minded older brother. King Saul is played by Ray Winstone while Nathaniel Parker is King Achish of Philistia!

FUNNY
'DAD'S ARMY' POSTERS
WITH CATHERINE ZETA JONES, BILL NIGHY, TOBY JONES
Meanwhile, a number of delightful character posters have been released for new British movie comedy DAD'S ARMY the remake of legendary BBC classic series which will march (or die trying) into cinemas next February with a stellar cast lead by Toby Jones as Captain Mainwaring and Bill Nighy as Sergeant Wilson. They're joined by Corporal Jones (Tom Courtenay), Private Godfrey (Michael Gambon), Private Pike (Blake Harrison) and Private Walker (Danny Mays), plus Catherine Zeta Jones's visiting journalist Rose Winters who's writing an article on the home guard.
BRITISH EMPIRE STRIKES BACK
The story is set in the waning days of World War II in the small village of Walmington-on-Sea, where Captain George Mainwaring (Jones) is leading a group of volunteers in the Home Guard. In a bizarre twist of fate, Mainwaring and his men might just become Britain's last line of defence against the Nazis when they discover a spy in their village.

"Dad's Army" sounds pretty good -- I'd go to it!
ReplyDeleteseems like a total riot, especially with that cast and posh British humour
DeleteDad's Army looks like fun. It's a shame everybody died at the end of Blackadder Goes Forth, because a cameo from Rowan Atkinson and the gang would be perfect here.
ReplyDeletethey did mention a few months ago that Blackadder might come back... at least Baldrick said so... not that he is trustworthy :)
DeleteDad's Army looks like fun:)
ReplyDeletetotally :)
DeleteDad's Army sounds hilarious.
ReplyDeleteabsolutely!
DeleteAhh, Catherine... She's Jason's other girlfriend, next to Sophia. Dad's Army does look like a hoot!
ReplyDeletehe obviously has great taste picking you, Catho and Sophie :)
DeleteI don't know what he's doing with me. He certainly seems to have a thing for the Latin gals lol.
Deletehe obviously has a thing for hot brunettes :)
DeleteI shall look forward to seeing Dad's Army with bated breath. Such a delightful series. And what a cast!
ReplyDeleteisn't it a great cast?!? I love them British thespians
DeleteI'll pass on Dad's Army, but the other two look educational :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the VICTORIA series will be less than educational, more of their propaganda in which their tyrannical enslavers are great rulers and not at all alike bloodthirsty invaders Hitler or Bush or Obama....
DeleteI love a good British comedy. I'd like to see Dad's Army.
ReplyDeleteit will be hilarious!
DeleteYea Catherine Zeta-Jones is back in action. I have not seen her in awhile.
ReplyDeleteshe has had year long breaks because of her husband and her health too. I don't think she will ever come back full time :(
DeleteDad's Army looks like a lot of good fun.
ReplyDeleteabsolutely!
DeleteQueen Victoria may be ruthless, but she's gorgeous in that picture! ! Daddys army looks like it has lots funny moments, but I hope they don't make it too corny.
ReplyDeleteit's British humour / sensible and light
DeleteBritish humor has always been a little odd to me, although there was a British show on Netflix that I loved called "The I.T. Crowd." Some of the humor made no sense to me, but I'm sure most American humor makes no sense in other parts of the world! They just referred to things I didn't get...or used slang I hadn't heard before. My stepdad is British, though, and he watches BBC almost exclusively. Well, BBC and NASCAR, as odd as the combo is!
ReplyDeletethere are varieties of it. Some of it I don't get either, like MONTHY PYTHON for example, but some I truly appreciate, especially when it is kind, light, clever and nonoffensive... which is why I like American multi/camera sitcoms too... they have that spirit as well unlike the single camera ones... well, most of them.
DeleteWhen I look back at the programmes I watch most, it is also mostly BBC, ITV, Channel 4 for me as well. They always have depth and are never primitive and vulgar, and they never offend their viewers by stooping too low thinking they're stupid.
Oops looks like I stopped by before the flip over.
ReplyDeleteYou have a good one, Blogster Bud.
You mean before the new one? It's not due yet :)
DeleteCatherine should have married me. That said, this movie looks fun. BILL NIGHY!
ReplyDeletecould I be your best man if you ever marry Catho? I've always wanted to be Catho's best friend!
DeleteYou bet! Man..... she's so enticing!
Deletenow... how do we get rid of Michael Douglas?
DeleteDad's Army looks hillarious and I love to see Chaterine there. Still rockingly beautiful!
ReplyDeleteshe is such a beauty
