roles, especially given his stunning talent (ANGELS IN AMERICA, HARD CANDY, LITTLE CHILDREN), he is pushed over to TV where he is currently starring in A GIFTED MAN show. This year he has a role in sf epic PROMETHEUS but a small one, and the new announced project isn't promising either: according to "Variety" he and Vera Farmiga will star in THE CONJURING, a horror tale which is based on the true story of a Rhode Island family who claimed that they lived among the dead with friendly and evil spirits residing in their farmhouse. I think Patrick's talents need a better agent, what do you think, people?
HOLLYWOOD SPY HEADLINES
You know I'm not excited about the movie adaptation of Stephanie
Meyer's THE HOST, since I believe the TWILIGHT author offends human brain with her rubbish writing, but we do love Andrew Niccol (IN TIME, GATTACA) who is directing it. According to "Deadline" the film which is set in the world in which aliens occupy your souls like parasites, has just signed in Diane Kruger who will join Saoirse Ronan who plays a young soldier who is taken over by a Soul dubbed The Wanderer, although the soldier puts up a fight, refusing to let go of her identity. The Wanderer becomes obsessed with the soldiers memories, and sets out to find her boyfriend and lost brother. Diane Kruger will portray The Seeker, who tracks down The Wanderer. William Hurt and Max Irons are also in the cast.
And have you seen the first picture of Vin Diesel, released this weekend, from RIDDICK? How do you like his costume? The third part of the famous sf saga has started shooting and also includes Karl Urban.

When it comes to TV news, there are two new sitcoms coming our way:
NBC is planning a pilot for an untitled comedy from the producers of GLEE in which the story would revolve around a gay couple and the woman who becomes their surrogate as they start a family. There was quite a big network bidding war for this project which will have Andrew Rannell (known for giving his voice to a tones of animated and video game characters) in the lead role. Another project is over at CBS - an untitled sitcom from THE MUPPETS writer Nick Stoller which will follow a guy who gets his heart broken by his girlfriend and now has to work one cubicle away from her at an advertising agency. It is loosely based on one of the writers real life experiences.
And it seems that pointlessly morbid AMERICAN HORROR STORY has started a trend of haunted houses shows since ABC is making 666 PARK AVE, about a young couple that purchase a historic New York City based apartment only to find it is haunted by the supernatural. These strange occurrences begin to affect all of the renters in the building.
I don't like it when an extremely talented actor or actress doesn't get the attention s/he deserves.
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of 666 Park Avenue. I enjoy ghost stories.
It breaks my heart when that happens, Medeia, especially since the biggest stars in Hollywood are usually the ones without true talent while the best ones often rot in shade :(((( Why is Angelina Jolie bigger than Cate Blanchett? Why is Julia Roberts richer than Kate Winslet? Why is Kirsten Stewart in big films instead of some young actress who really has talent and charisma?
DeleteCan i like both Cate and Jolie?
Deleteno, especially not after Angelina made a film in which Serbs are portrayed as evil rapists and butchers.
DeleteI haven't watched In the land of Blood and Honey yet, but i think they are both good actresses
DeleteThere's too much copy-cat-ism in the movies and on TV. Somebody gets a hit with something and then everyone and his dog makes a similar one. Sorry to mix my animal metaphors there, but you know what I mean.
ReplyDeleteyou mean this last piece of news, about the haunted house show? Yep, no originality there.
Deletewow, Riddick's costume looks very... superhero-esque. Not sure I like it.
ReplyDeletehe looks like a hunky legionary
DeleteConjuring sounds a bit generic, but i don't mind a good horror movie
ReplyDeletemost horrors sound generic these days
DeleteVin looks quite delicious in that costume. I wonder what Karl will look like. Even more tasty,I'm sure. ;)
ReplyDeleteToo bad about Patrick. I wish he would get some more leading roles in flicks aside from horror. And I'm not too fond of his show, either. Maybe it will get better.
I am in total agreement with you about Stephenie Meyer. Blech!
Karl will be a cure for our sore eyes, I'm sure....
DeleteI haven't seen Patrick's new show, but it doesn't attract me to watch it... he should stick to amazing roles in mini series if he really has to work on TV
Other than Vin, this is a pretty lousy bunch. No more Stephanie Meyers please! And poor Patrick, being stuck in a second rate horror film that looks like a rehash of other crappy horror films. You're right, he needs a new agent.
ReplyDeleteHe deserves so much more! He is the only American thespian who can stand side by side with British and Irish and Australian thespians.
DeleteHopefully Riddick three is good, or as good as a riddick movie can be. The Patrick's seem to be getting the shaft, maybe he needs a rhyming cat..haha
ReplyDeleteyep, rhyming cat would help him hit the stardom :))
DeleteThat Little Children movie was really disturbing, but I remember Patrick Wilson from it and have wondered why I haven't really seen him in anything else.
ReplyDeleteLITTLE CHILDREN is one of my top ten all time fave films. The ending was so refined and profound! And the atmosphere in the film was brilliant, saying so much about the modern American society and the paranoia which surrounds us.
DeleteI like Vin's costume.
ReplyDeleteglad to hear that!
Deletethe andrew rannell project sounds like it could be cute!
ReplyDeleteit certainly could!
DeleteYea I like the way Vin looks.
ReplyDeletehe looks great, doesn't he?
DeleteWonder if anyone besides me think that there is an eerie resemblance between Andrew Rannells and Mark "Marky mark" wahlberg?
ReplyDeletehe he really? :)
DeleteI am probably going to get shouted at for this... But I really liked the second riddick film.... I know... i need help.
ReplyDeletei look forward to the new one
why would you get shouted for it? THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK is one of the best sf films ever made especially in the space opera genre. It had great story which wasn't overly complex so that you can't understand it like in some sf films, it had the most amazing sets, effects and costumes, it was extremely diverse and it had the most amazing performances from Dench, Urban, Feore and Thandie to Vinnie!
DeleteRiddick is actually being made...brilliant.
ReplyDeletebrilliant indeed!
DeleteLike you, I'm already tired of Stephanie Mayer adaptations. I'm still astounded she had her first Twilight novel printed let alone several more.
ReplyDeletethe same goes for TRUE BLOOD books, I've never read a bigger crap from a worse writer.
Deletemy chick proper loves the Vin /sigh
ReplyDeletewell, how could she not to? :)
Deletei want to watch 666!!! hmm..
ReplyDeleteit could be interesting
DeleteStephenie Meyer just needs to go away. The Host is such a terrible idea, and that's keeping in mind that Twilight was absolute garbage.
ReplyDeleteAlso, a horror show on ABC? That sounds about as smart as putting a porno on PBS. I foresee lameness.
the sad thing is that there will always be readers who accept and read crap that horrid writers like her feed them with. The lack of quality which brings you success today is just sad and depressing. She and Charlaine Harris have put all the possible things that are deemed to be the basic writing mistakes in their books and people still loved it... very sad, very sad.
DeleteWow, a lot of rubbish films. I'm not really into the senseless horror films. But, that's for the updates.
ReplyDeleteI don't care what film Diane Kruger ends up in next... I just have to watch! But why a third Riddick?
ReplyDeletebecause me needs it and me loves it :)
DeleteThe Conjuring... Hmmm fascinating name for a movie
ReplyDeleteit sure is, I'm not even sure what it means :)
DeleteHope you had a great weekend! If I could send you the second plate of sticky buns, I would! Anything to keep me from eating any more :)
ReplyDeletehe he :) I also loved the look of those crackling buns you've posted on Face from some friend of yours. I loved them when I wasn't a vegetarian as a kid, but there's also a great crackling replacement, you just use grind or blended sesame (which turns into a paste after grinding) to wipe the dough together with margarine during kneading. It gives the same taste as pork cracklings.
DeleteOooh, Wilson and Farmiga, I quite like that combo! Too bad it's a horror movie :(
ReplyDeleteand he already had that INSIDIOUS horror last year :(
