Now, here's something we really want to see this year and the premiere is really close since it opens up in British cinemas this May (August in USA, summer in most of Europe)! FLORENCE FOSTER JENKINS in which Meryl Streep plays the worst opera singer in history who wasn't aware of her utter lack of talent.

 WORLD'S WORST SINGER 
Directed by Stephen Frears (THE QUEEN, PHILOMENA) this true life story follows FLORENCE FOSTER JENKINS, a wealthy woman from the beginning of the 20th century New York high society who used her relationships and her fortune to become an opera singer. But the problem was that she had the worst voice ever. The voice she heard in her head was beautiful, but to everyone else it was hilariously awful. Hugh Grant plays St Clair Bayfield, an aristocratic English actor and  her trusted manager and best friend who was determined to protect his beloved Florence from the truth, and Rebecca Ferguson is his long suffering wife. BING BANG THEORY's Simon Helberg is Florence's pianist. The movie tells her story through to her 1944 Carnegie Hall concert which sold some 3,000 tickets, but she died a month later. Jenkins handled distribution of the popular tickets herself, in order to exclude professional critics from attending her performances. She also designed all of her wonderfully campy and gorgeously outrageous costumes!

'STILL STAR CROSSED' SERIES

In today's TV news, another of the series pilots we're looking forward too has found its lead stars. As 'Deadline' reports ABC's historical drama STILL STAR CROSSED will be lead by British actress Lashana Lynch and Wade Briggs, and will also star Zuleikha Robinson as Lady Capulet. Meanwhile, Torrance Coombs is leaving REIGN to play Count Paris of Mantua in this one. Based on the book by Melinda Traub it will be set in 16th century Verona picking up where William Shakespeare’s ROMEO AND JULIET left off. It charts the treachery, palace intrigue and ill-fated romances of the Montagues and Capulets in the wake of the young lovers’ tragic fate.

ILL FATED LOVERS  
The story centres on Rosaline (Lashana Lynch), a gorgeous, intelligent and headstrong Capulet and Juliet’s cousin. Following the death of her parents, she is taken in by her aunt and uncle, Juliet’s parents Lady (Zyleikha Robinson) and Lord Capulet, and forced to work as a servant. She does her best to tolerate her aunt’s cruelty, and focuses on finding a way to free herself of the humiliation. She is eventually ordered to marry Benvolio (Wade Briggs), a Montague.

'THE RANCH' SITCOM TRAILER

Netflix has released the first trailer for their new multi camera sitcom THE RANCH out April 1st! Set in present day on a Colorado ranch, it follows Colt’s (Ashton Kutcher) return home after a brief and failed semi- pro football career to run the family ranching business with his older brother Jameson “Rooster” (Danny Masterson) and father Beau (Sam Elliott), whom he hasn’t seen in 15 years. Debra Winger stars as their mother, Maggie, who runs the local town bar.

Here's a lovely lady for you: earlier last year I informed you that Rachel Weisz and Sam Claflin will lead period set drama MY COUSIN RACHEL and now they're joined by latest Lady Chaterley Holliday Grainger! As 'Deadline' reports the film is an adaptation of the classic Daphne Du Maurier novel. The dark romance revolves around Philip, a young orphan, who believes his mysterious, beautiful cousin Rachel may have been responsible for the murder of his beloved guardian Ambrose, also a cousin of theirs. As Philip plots his revenge, he finds his feelings complicated as he falls under Rachel’s beguiling spell.

JOSH BOWMAN JOINS 'TIME AFTER TIME' SF SHOW
As EW writes today, one of TV's most popular hunks, Josh Bowman has just joined the new ABC sf show TIME AFTER TIME that I announced only yesterday! While young Freddie Stroma will play the lead role of  H.J. Wells whose time travelling adventures are the focus of the show, Bowman will play Jack the Ripper whom Wells chases through time. He is also John Stevenson, a brilliant and charismatic surgeon who lives a double life as the infamous serial killer.
TONE BELL, BEAU MIRCHOFF IN 'GOOD FORTUNE' SITCOM
Meanwhile, Tone Bell, whom we loved in TRUTH BE TOLD, AWKWARD's  Beau Mirchoff and Diane Guerrero will star in new NBC multi camera sitcom GOOD FORTUNE about June, a hyper structured young woman who, after a fortune teller predicts she’ll die in 3 days, decides she’s finally going to live her life with no regrets. When she doesn’t die but realize how great it felt to take risks, she adopts a new life policy along with a new full time fortune teller. June and her best friends Adam (Bell), Dave (Mirchoff), Bailey (Guerrero) and Metzger plan to always stick together, impending doom or not.

As you've probably heard by now, the movie news of the day is that Reese Witherspoon will play TINKERBELL in Disney's live action movie! She will also produce the movie which was, some years ago, supposed to star Elizabeth Banks. No plot yet, but it has been revealed that the take on the fairy character will be similar as in MALEFICENT, bringing a new perspective and showing us something we didn't know about the character before. The movie scheduled for 2017 will have a rival in another TINKERBELL project over at 20th Century Fox where the lead role is secured for Melissa McCarthy!

'MACBETH' FIRST CLIPS!

And while we are still waiting for the first full official trailer, straight from Cannes Film Festival come first two clips from long awaited new adaptation of Shakespeare's MACBETH with Michael Fassbender. One of them shows Fassy being crowned while Marion Cotillard as ruthless Lady Macbeth is watching, and the other one shows him leading his army into a magnificent slow motion battle! Directed by Justin Kurtzel the movie opens in Europe in October with the costumes being done by Oscar winner Jacqueline Durran. The cast also included David Thewlis, Jack Reynor and Paddy Considine!

When it comes to TV news, the latest of the 80's movie stars to join new TV projects beside Whoopie Goldberg, Jane Fonda, Melanie Griffith, Martin Sheen, Lily Tomlin and a number of others, is Michelle Pfeiffer. According to 'Variety' she might head a new sitcom produced by Katie Couric in which she would play a morning news anchor with the story set behind the scenes of a morning news show! Diane English is the sitcom creator. She is known for classic sitcom MURPHY BROWN which had Candice Bergen playing a news anchor too.
