FIRST TRAILER FOR SYFY'S NEW INTERPLANETARY TV SHOW 'KILLJOYS' WITH LUKE MACFARLANE AND AARON ASHMORE! AG RIDDLE'S SF BESTSELLER 'DEPARTURE' TO BECOME A FILM

A.J. RIDDLE'S 'DEPARTURE'
TO GET SF MOVIE ADAPTATION!
Just some sf news for you this Monday, people, starting with the report from 'Deadline' on A.G. Riddle's bestselling novel DEPARTURE getting its big screen version at 20th Century Fox. It was initially self published but after becoming an on-line phenomenon, the book was sold in a seven figure deal to Harper Voyager! The novel starts with a plane crash in the English countryside. Soon, the survivors find they have a complex connection to the present, future and past as they are plunged into a sci-fi survival storyline.

'KILLJOYS' SF SHOW TRAILER
LUKE MACFARLANE & AARON ASHMORE AS INTERPLANETARY BOUNTY HUNTERS
The only trailer I have for you today is the first one for SyFy's new sf series KILLJOYS which arrives onto the small screens June 19th following a trio of interplanetary bounty hunters sworn to remain impartial as they chase deadly warrants throughout the Quad,  a distant system on the brink of a multiplanetary class war. Hannah John Kamen stars as the deadly Dutch, with a unique gift for earning people’s trust and respect regardless of their class. Under her banter and protective flirtations, there is a dark secret past. Aaron Ashmore plays John Jaqobis, a peacemaker who hates conflict. Cheerful and kind-hearted, John prefers not to fight, but his wit has putsarcastic  him into the fray enough over the years to teach him how to do it well, and dirty. Luke Macfarlane stars as D’avin, a handsome, rugged, sarcastic, and incredibly loyal former soldier whose expertise in tactics, manoeuvres and hand-to-hand combat make him an instant asset to the Killjoy team.

    1. could be, if they don't make the stories overly cheap as per usual at SyFy :)

    1. No dar-link! I got to episode 32 and there's no English subtitles. The remainder are all in Chinese. Why did't I take Chinese in college?!!!

  6. I think that's so cool when you hear of a self-published novel gaining that much traction that it gets made into something more. I have a few writer friends, so this is encouraging to hear that I could be seeing their work on the big screen some day!

    1. it requires a lot of luck... tons of it, methinks. Obviously nobody wanted to publish it in the first place and only when it got sold in more than a million copies it attracted the attention of so many publishers who gave big bucks to buy it and publish it on a larger scale. Not many writers have that luck. I guess you need great agents... for movie adaptation too

    2. It really takes a lot of hard work and dedication to get your works noticed. My Facebook page is flooded with self publicity from friends who have self published. I'm not sure if any of them have an agent, but it would be cool to say "Hey! I know the person who wrote that book that was turned into a movie!" some day!

    3. I know a couple of them whose books have been turned into movies :) My current publisher mostly buys books which are being made into films. And I remember when Steven Watson the author of BEFORE I GO TO SLEEP came here and left a comment when we announced that his book will be turned into a movie starring Kidman, Firth and Mark Strong :) We also got retweets from Ken Follett when his books were turned into series two times :)
