CHINESE EPIC "THE FLYING SWORDS OF DRAGON GATE" HEADS TO IMAX! IMELDA STAUNTON & MIRANDA RICHARDSON JOIN "MALEFICENT" FANTASY TALE! ANDY GARCIA & VERA FARMIGA GO ROMANTIC IN "ADMISSIONS"!

After Julia Roberts and Kirsten Stewart, I guess it's time for another evil Hollywood creature to infest fairy tale world since Angelina Jolie is playing the title role in MALEFICENT. The epic tale, to be released in March 2014 by Disney, has added some new cast members, brilliant British stars Imelda Staunton, Miranda Richardson and Sam Riley. The story centers on evil MALEFICENT, and puts a new spin on her relationship with Princess Aurora (Elle Fanning), a.k.a. Sleeping Beauty. Imelda Staunton and Lesley Manville are playing Knotgrass and Flittle, two of the pixies who care for Aurora. Miranda Richardson is portraying Queen Ulla, Maleficent's aunt who does like her evil niece. Sam Riley plays Diaval, Maleficent's trusted right hand, who transforms between a raven and a human. Kenneth Cranham is playing the human king, who tries to conquer the fairy kingdom.
HOLLYWOOD SPY HEADLINES
Deadline drops a line that we shall watch Andy Garcia and Vera Farmiga get romantic in ADMISSIONS, which centers on a once
-in-a-lifetime relationship that develops between two strangers over the course of a single day. Farmiga portrays Edith, a free-spirited mom taking her driven daughter Audrey on a walking tour of a beautiful small college. Garcia plays buttoned-up heart surgeon George, who’s taking his son Conrad on the same tour. Failing comically to connect with their respective children, George and Edith decide to play “tour hooky” together for the rest of the afternoon. The result is a surprising romance and the greatest half-day of their lives.

Here's a visual treat you will be able to watch in regular cinemas and in Imax from August: it's Chinese epic THE FLYING SWORDS OF DRAGON GATE, with Jet Li. The fourth-highest grossing Chinese-language film of all time, directed by Hark Tsui, is an action adventure
which follows  Zhao Huai'an, a Ming Dynasty general played by Jet Li, who finds himself at odds with Yu Huatian (Kun Chen), an evil, power-hungry eunuch. Eventually, these two adversaries cross paths with Ling Yanqiu (Xun Zhou) at the titular Dragon Gate Inn, a remote outpost in the desert at the very frontier of the kingdom.
Dear people don't forget to visit and leave a comment over at Elsie's place, where she's dedicated a touching THE DEZZ EFFECT post to me!

    2. You should watch this Elsie, you'll love the way the scenes are shot. Ignore the subtitles if you have to and just look at the visual feast.

    3. all English films in my country are done with subtitles :) so I'm totally used to watching the scene and reading the titles :)
Even when I download English shows, I download English subtitles as well, since that way you miss no words that they say.

  2. Big lips Jolie going to fairy tale land now, whoopie, I hope she melts and that is that. Asian films are fun visually but usually they are a bit too umm weird for me or out there, if that is a good way to describe them.

    1. well, she does play an ebil lady. Fits her perfectly.
Yep, their actors have an unusual way of acting for us from other parts of the world, a bit too theatrical, but their visuals are pure art.

    2. Yeah can't argue with the visuals they do a great job in that department. Dumb jumbo lips better die is all I say, still prob won't watch it though.

    3. I'm so glad we can all agree on this one vital thing. Jolie sucks ass.

    4. she is pure ebil. If I was a social worker I'd really try to investigate how she treats all those kids of hers (or not hers)

      Delete
    5. She prob doesn't even treat them, has 10 nannies/slaves to do the work for her, except where there is a photo shoot.

    6. yep, we shall read a lot of their sad biographies in twenty years or more....

    7. She buys children and then wears them like bracelets for the media to swoon over. I can't imagine that she really spends any time with them and yeah, there will probably be sad stories for these kids to tell one day.

    8. and they probably won't have their own identity, poor souls :(((

  3. Ooh, the Flying Swords at the Dragon's Gate is kind of fun. Those movies are always visually stunning. And I love how the women kick ass in those films just as much as the men. :))

  10. Maleficent is something we won't be seeing with that hideous creature Jolie in it. She has lips like a zeppelin and the morals of a viper.

I am going to see Flying Swords though because it will be visually stunning and I loved The Forbidden Kingdom. And I might watch the romantic comedy but only because you're teaching me the value of them.

    2. You did Dez. I've had a violent hatred against romance movies since I was a little girl. I think in part it was because my father treated my mother like a slave and I'd see movies about romance and think "what rubbish".

    3. oh, that's horrid. One of my granpas was kinda like that too, a hypochondriac slave master...
