HOLLYWOOD SPY HEADLINES
Deadline drops a line that we shall watch Andy Garcia and Vera Farmiga get romantic in ADMISSIONS, which centers on a once
-in-a-lifetime relationship that develops between two strangers over the course of a single day. Farmiga portrays Edith, a free-spirited mom taking her driven daughter Audrey on a walking tour of a beautiful small college. Garcia plays buttoned-up heart surgeon George, who’s taking his son Conrad on the same tour. Failing comically to connect with their respective children, George and Edith decide to play “tour hooky” together for the rest of the afternoon. The result is a surprising romance and the greatest half-day of their lives.

Here's a visual treat you will be able to watch in regular cinemas and in Imax from August: it's Chinese epic THE FLYING SWORDS OF DRAGON GATE, with Jet Li. The fourth-highest grossing Chinese-language film of all time, directed by Hark Tsui, is an action adventure
which follows Zhao Huai'an, a Ming Dynasty general played by Jet Li, who finds himself at odds with Yu Huatian (Kun Chen), an evil, power-hungry eunuch. Eventually, these two adversaries cross paths with Ling Yanqiu (Xun Zhou) at the titular Dragon Gate Inn, a remote outpost in the desert at the very frontier of the kingdom.
Dear people don't forget to visit and leave a comment over at Elsie's place, where she's dedicated a touching THE DEZZ EFFECT post to me!
I don't know what to think about the new Jet Li film. It looks like it may be interesting but I can't quite tell...hopefully some more previews will come out soon.
ReplyDeletebut don't forget that Asian films are always fun to watch at least visually :)
DeleteYou should watch this Elsie, you'll love the way the scenes are shot. Ignore the subtitles if you have to and just look at the visual feast.
Deleteall English films in my country are done with subtitles :) so I'm totally used to watching the scene and reading the titles :)
DeleteEven when I download English shows, I download English subtitles as well, since that way you miss no words that they say.
Big lips Jolie going to fairy tale land now, whoopie, I hope she melts and that is that. Asian films are fun visually but usually they are a bit too umm weird for me or out there, if that is a good way to describe them.
ReplyDeletewell, she does play an ebil lady. Fits her perfectly.
DeleteYep, their actors have an unusual way of acting for us from other parts of the world, a bit too theatrical, but their visuals are pure art.
Yeah can't argue with the visuals they do a great job in that department. Dumb jumbo lips better die is all I say, still prob won't watch it though.
DeleteI'm so glad we can all agree on this one vital thing. Jolie sucks ass.
Deleteshe is pure ebil. If I was a social worker I'd really try to investigate how she treats all those kids of hers (or not hers)
DeleteShe prob doesn't even treat them, has 10 nannies/slaves to do the work for her, except where there is a photo shoot.
Deleteyep, we shall read a lot of their sad biographies in twenty years or more....
DeleteShe buys children and then wears them like bracelets for the media to swoon over. I can't imagine that she really spends any time with them and yeah, there will probably be sad stories for these kids to tell one day.
Deleteand they probably won't have their own identity, poor souls :(((
DeleteOoh, the Flying Swords at the Dragon's Gate is kind of fun. Those movies are always visually stunning. And I love how the women kick ass in those films just as much as the men. :))
ReplyDeleteah, yes, reminds me to check out what's going on with that lady generals Chinese epics I wrote about a couple of times last year :)
DeleteEh I'm not sure about those oriental movies in the trailer it looks like they're swinging from ropes sword fighting lol
ReplyDeleteyou can always expect some serious body bending and gravity challenging things in such films :)
DeleteInteresting movies. Hard to seen Jolie in a Disney but what do I know and the college film, could be good.
ReplyDeletecollege one should be nice, we do love romance :)
DeleteMeh. No hot blonds today. This post is full of fail.
ReplyDeleteI'm ashamed of myself today :)
DeleteMake up for it with a post featuring a shirtless Chris Evans! Like omg....
Deleteas soon as some news on him appears you know I won't waste the opportunity to strip him naked here :)
DeleteI love those impossibly crazy martial arts movies where everyone flies through the air!
ReplyDeleteeveryone and everything :)
DeleteI saw Julia Roberts in that mirror mirror movie the other day... I want my money back.
ReplyDeleteWhy has it been so quiet around Andy Garcia these past few years? He's such a great actor.
you didn't like it? Her or the film?
DeleteThe movie... By the way, have you also noticed there are a lot of blue suits around these days? (Seriously.)
Deletehaven't noticed, I think your eyes got blue and you see blue everywhere :)
DeleteDidn't think Andy Garcia and Vera Farmiga would make a good couple but who knows.
ReplyDeletewe shall see, we shall see :)
DeleteMaleficent is something we won't be seeing with that hideous creature Jolie in it. She has lips like a zeppelin and the morals of a viper.
ReplyDeleteI am going to see Flying Swords though because it will be visually stunning and I loved The Forbidden Kingdom. And I might watch the romantic comedy but only because you're teaching me the value of them.
poisonous adder, she is!
DeleteAwww, did I really teach you that? :) How lovely, I'm touched now....
You did Dez. I've had a violent hatred against romance movies since I was a little girl. I think in part it was because my father treated my mother like a slave and I'd see movies about romance and think "what rubbish".
Deleteoh, that's horrid. One of my granpas was kinda like that too, a hypochondriac slave master...
DeleteThat trailer is a visual treat...and I do miss Andy Garcia ~
ReplyDeleteWill checking out your friend's blog ~
thanks, hope you will like her post on moi :)
Deleteangelina jolie playing maleficent? count me in!!!
ReplyDeleteah, there's a fan of her :)
DeleteJolie - He may fit the bony skinny witch and I would like to pour water on her.
ReplyDeleteI like Asian movies and most of all, I love how they deliver their dialogues all out of place. Iiiii- am a good---maaan, San, tell me, areeeeeeeeeee u?
she would turn into dust and smoke probably.
DeleteThey do have the strangest of dialogues, it's true, and intonation as well, they like to yell a lot.
I haven't seen a good chinese film in a long time
ReplyDeleteI've seen a few this winter, but can recall the titles :(
DeleteI just came from Elsie's place! I think she did a great job ;)
ReplyDeleteAdmissions sounds good!!! Andy Garcia? Mhmmm
glad you liked Elsie's post :)
DeleteNot sure about the casting, but the story of Malificent could really be more interesting than Sleeping Beauty.
ReplyDeleteI know you like them darker than I do, Kelso :)
DeleteThe Dezz Effect sounds just about right. You do have a certain magic about you. :)
ReplyDeleteI love evil queens, you can't have good unless you have bad. And they are a lot of fun. ;))
I'm all voodoo LOL :)
DeleteI love romantic movies and I really want to see Admissions.
ReplyDeleteI've been missing these fairy tale movies. I'm sure I'll catch them later on cable.
we do love us a little romance on the big screens!
DeleteHey there Mr. Riley, you're looking awfully blue.
ReplyDeleteblue is in this year :)
DeleteTo be honest I would watch Vera in anything, she is amazing!
ReplyDeleteshe's cute, isn't she?
DeleteYour first line made me laugh. Another evil actress is stepping forward.
ReplyDeletealways here to make you laugh :) I'm not calling everyone ebil, but those three really are forces of darkness in Hollywood :)
DeleteAndy Garcia deserves to be more successful.....
ReplyDeletenow, there's a Garcia fan :)
DeleteI wasn't too impressed with Flying Swords of Dragon Gate, but I am glad that it is getting a big theatrical release.
ReplyDeleteyep, Asian films are often hit and miss....
