MIRROR MIRROR STORY
In the story of MIRROR MIRROR, super talented, visionary director and visual genious Tarsem Singh (the author of some of the most striking films in cinematic history - IMMORTALS, THE CELL, THE FALL) rewrites fairy tale history as a wicked enchantress (Roberts) schemes and scrambles for control of a spirited orphan’s (Collins) throne and the attention of a charming prince (Hammer). When Snow White’s beauty wins the heart of the prince that she desperately pursues, the Queen banishes her to the dark and dangerous forest, where a frigtening ravening man-eating beast hungrily awaits.Rescued by a band of diminutive highway robbers, Snow White grows into an indomitable young woman determined to take back her realm from the treacherous Queen. With the support of her subjects, she roars into action in an epic battle that blends spectacle, magic and contemporary humor in Singh’s signature, jaw dropping visual style.
MIRROR MIRROR TIDBITS
The full name of the film is actually MIRROR MIRROR: THE UNTOLD ADVENTURES OF SNOW WHITE, but Relativity Media opted for the shorter title. It is interesting that Lily Collins (who is the daughter of music legend Phil Collins) has first auditioned
for the lead role in the rival project SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN, but when she lost that one, Tarsem hired her, as he admitted, mesmerized by her snowy tan and her eyebrows. After this one she will lead another fantasy franchise MORTAL INSTRUMENTS.
Saoirse Ronan was actually the first choice for the role, but she didn't get the role when Armie Hammer was hired, because the age difference between them is too big. Before Armie got the role of the prince, other candidates were Alex Pettyfer and James McAvoy.
This is gazillionth film in which Sean Bean doesn't live but dies. This is Tarsem's first family friendly movie, since he is generally known for a darker or very complex approach to his film, even though THE FALL also had a young girl as the lead actress.
The dwarves in the film will have some quite crazy names: Chuckles, Wolf, Napoleon, Grub, Half-Pint, Grimm and Butcher. The music in the film will be composed by one of the most famous movie composers, Alan Menken who won 8 oscars for ALADDIN, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, POCAHONTAS, TANGLED, THE LITTLE MERMAID....
Imaginative, sparkly and divine costumes in the film, were made by Eiko Ishioka, Oscar winner, known for marvelous costumes in THE CELL, THE FALL, DRACULA, IMMORTALS...
Eeee! Oh I just LOVE all these kick-ass girl roles!! YAY! :)
ReplyDeleteteeheehee!!! still excited about this one! (even with ms. evil in it. blech!) yay!
ReplyDeleteI am so very, very excited for this. Lily looks exquisite and Armie is so charming and handsome. Would have preferred Charlize in this film, but Julia's not too bad. The only strike, really. A terrific spotlight. :)
ReplyDeleteNice I'm going to have to watch those
ReplyDeleteCan't say i'm looking forward to this one
ReplyDeleteWe shall see, Julia has never been a favorite of mine, besides the odd fewa nd these fairy tale reimagining things are getting annoying.
ReplyDeleteOh My God, this visuals! They are stunning, so stunning that despite Julia Roberts being in the film, I will not only see this in theatres, I willl buy the DVD when it's released.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all this information! I didn't know Lily Collins was the daughter of Phil!
ReplyDeleteSo good the music was composed by Alan Menken, I love Tangled's score, and of course all the classics you quoted.
Can't wait =)
L.
This should be interesting. Especially with Julia Roberts in it.
ReplyDeleteLooks neat but not for me. Maybe my girlfriend would be interested?
ReplyDeleteGreat pics Dezzy. It is going to be interesting seeing how these new Snow White films differ. It'll be a fascinating battle but I do hope they both offer something unique.
ReplyDelete@Nicole
ReplyDeletenice to see you excited, Nicole :))
@Vics
ah, don't mention Ms. Evil, whenever I watch the trailer I cringe when I see her :( Such an artificial and highly unattractive woman
@Melsy
ah, yes, having Charlize in this one would make it the film of the year :) Especially if Chris Hemsworth was the prince as well :) Or even Sam Claflin from the rival project.
@Baur
ReplyDeleteglad you like it
@Dirty
sorry to hear that
@Pat
I can't stand her either, Pat, and she is the cancer wound of this film unfortunately.
@Anne
ReplyDeleteTarsem's films are always shockingly spectacular when it comes to visuals, hope you've seen his THE FALL, THE CELL and IMMORTALS
@Lucinda
she is, but they don't look alike, do they? :)))
@Rgers
hope it will be a smash hit
@DWei
ReplyDeleteshe would for sure
@Dan
glad you like the pics, Danzel, as you know I'm not watching the other project because I'd rather be friends with PAris Hilton than watch a film with that TWILIGHT wench, but I do admit that the look of that one is also interesting
The visuals for that movie is amazing. Love the costumes! I might just check it out for that.
ReplyDeleteand we've seen an only small part of the costumes, who knows what kind of wonders await us in the film :)
ReplyDeleteWell, the clothes look nice.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great movie
ReplyDelete@Pesos
ReplyDeleteglad you think so
@Baur
it does :)
Hi Dezz! Now that I'm reading more about it on your blog, I'm thinking more positively about it, the first trailer I saw had me worried about what they had done to the story - despite Bean being in it, though I fear he will be only there briefly.
ReplyDeleteI've noticed how they are keeping him hidden in the trailer and in the whole campaign :) I couldn't even find any picture of him from the film or the set... it's very strange
ReplyDeleteNeed to watch. :D
ReplyDeleteLove this Dez:)
ReplyDelete@Interwebs
ReplyDeleteyou must :)
@Gloria
it is wonderful, isn't it? :)
I feel like I should be more stoked about this movie.
ReplyDeleteI blame, Julia, Josh, I blame Julia! Imagine if it was Charlize instead of her.
ReplyDeleteI really love the costume in this movie. I think I'll change my mind about seeing this in DVD. I''ll watch in in cinema just to see those costumes
ReplyDeleteit's should be a smashing film, Novia!
