The first one is for the unfortunate project SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN which is already losing battle to much more vivid and creative Tarsem's take on the fairy tale MIRROR MIRROR which will premiere first. Not only that they are premiering after MIRROR MIRROR and that they have horrible Kristen Stewart in the lead role (the worst casting choice ever), but SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN also does something I do not approve - ruins legendary fairy tale by making it extremely dark, violent and aggressive. But I know some of you might still like it, so I'm posting the trailer. Hitting theaters June 2012, the visually striking and rather stunning movie will bring a gritty new
take on the fairy tale in which the Huntsman (played by Thor himself Chris Hemsworth) has an expanded role from the one in the classic fairy tale. In the original story, he is ordered to take Snow White into the woods, kill her and bring her heart to the Evil
Queen (here played by Charlize Theron who looks rather magnificent in the costume), but instead lets her go. But in SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN the two will be chained together for part of the movie as they make their escape. But this doesn't mean that the Huntsman is Snow White's love interest, because the prince is still in the story(played by super charismatic Sam Claflin from PILLARS OF THE EARTH and PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN). The huntsman here has a task of being Snow White's mentor, teaching the teen girl to fight and survive and teaching her how to fight back the Evil Queen. The cast also includes Ian McShane, Bob Hoskins, Lily Cole and Toby Jones.
The 2nd trailer for the end of the week is a gorgeous one for the sequel to THE JOURNEY TO THE CENTRE OF THE EARTH this time titled JOURNEY 2: MYSTERIOUS ISLAND. You remember the
first part in which Josh Hutcherson and Brendan Fraser traveled underneath the Earth's core, but this time Hutcherson is joined by his stepfather played by Dwayne Johnson: the new journey begins when young adventurer Sean (Josh Hutcherson) receives a coded distress signal from a mysterious island where no island should exist, a place of strange life forms, mountains of gold, deadly volcanoes, and more than one astonishing secret. Unable to stop him from going, Sean's new stepfather (Dwayne Johnson) joins the quest. Together with a helicopter pilot and his beautiful, strong-willed daughter (Vanessa Hudgens), they set out to find the island, rescue its lone inhabitant and escape before seismic shockwaves force the island under the sea and bury its treasures forever. Hitting cinemas next February this lovely adventure also stars Kristin Davis as the mother, and Michael Caine as the grandfather.

Congrats to our dear Shells.
Sorry, Dezzy, that Snow White looks amazing. And I don't feel the hate for Kristen that you do, so I'll definitely be watching this one. :))
ReplyDeleteAnd congrats to Rashelle Workman on the release of her novel. That cover is gorgeous!
well I did say in the post that it is visually stunning :)
ReplyDeleteI love it that RaShelle's cover actually looks like her herself :)
Maybe they waited so long with the trailers in hopes no one would notice them.
ReplyDeleteI'll stick with Disney's SW.
Best thing here is RaShelle's book release. Cover is fantastic.
Well, you can count me in as one of those people who would enjoy a darker Snow White. And while Kristen would not my my choice for the lead, but having seen her in movies other than Twilight i think she will do fine.
ReplyDeleteAnything with Vanessa Hudgens is guaranteed awful. She's even less charismatic than Kristen Stewart. Charlize looks brilliant in that costume, but that's all I have to say about that movie. Tarsem wins.
ReplyDeleteI'm sick to death of these stupid fairy tale dark things, whoopdi friggin doo, dumb. The first Journey was meh, so who knows about this one, sure it will be The Tooth Fairy thing The Rock did though..haha
ReplyDeleteOh and this is quite the coicendence, tomorrow's post for the cat has something in it to do with snow white..haha..good timing.
Dezzy - you sweet, sexy Hollywood Spy, you! Thank you for mentioning my book. It was/is a lovely surprise. Mwah! Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteAs for the movies, Snow White does look good. And Journey - I like The Rock, so we'll see.
Snow white looks promising
ReplyDeleteOh my, Snow White looks amazing. The sfx look incredible. I love the mirror. And I love the music and Charlize looks fabulous. I also have my doubts about Kristen, but hey, maybe the rest will make up for it ;)
ReplyDeleteThat's a nice trailer. Can't wait for the movie.
ReplyDeleteJourney to the Mysterious Island looks like it's going to flop if you ask me.
ReplyDeleteIt pains me to say this but I am actually looking forward to Snow White now. Even though I was major anti before seeing the trailer
ReplyDeleteThe trailer did look good for Snow White.....and I like the Rock in virtually anything.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great Friday!!!
ReplyDeleteTwo Snow White movies are coming out? That is bad timing. Exiled looks fantastic!
ReplyDelete@Mary
ReplyDeletebe sure to pop over to RaShell's place today :)
@Dirty
yep, I knew that you would be of different opinion :) It's a constant battle between forces of light and forces of darkness :)
@Melsy
I'm kinda surprised that Charlize actually took 90% of the trailer, maybe it is because she is the only thing worth in the film? :))))
I know what you mean about Vanessa. I personally like her, since, unlike most other teen stars, she has something warm in her look and attitude.
@Pat
ReplyDeleteit's no wonder the film comes from the producers of ALICE IN WONDERLAND.
Will there be dwarves too in your post? :)
@Shells
hope you are having a historical day today :) with the release of your first book! Enjoy every moment so that you can cherish it forever :)
@Adam
the trailer had a lot of cool scenes
@Lyndy
ReplyDeleteyep, Charlize is sooo good that now I'm ever more angry that she didn't get the role in Tarsem's film instead of Julia Robert :( I hope this one will at least be totally about her and not about the horrid Stewart
@Pesos
which one? There are two trailers :)
@DWei
it might, but only because evil fanboys, minions of dark forces, will bury it even before it comes out. My heart breaks when I think about it.
@Scottie
ReplyDeleteit was a brilliant trailer, wasn't it? Probably because Charlize dominated 90% of it :)
@Lurk
we like The Rock too :)
@Lizzy
you too, Lizzy, hope you're baking something nice for us :)
@Suzie
two are coming out and the third is planned too :)))
Those posters for SNOW WHITE & THE HUNTSMAN are pretty awesome, though. Too bad it won't do as well as the other.
ReplyDeleteThe trailer for Snow White actually looks quite good. Can't imagine I'll go and see it though.
ReplyDeleteJourney 2 seems great!
ReplyDelete@Josh
ReplyDeleteyep, the posters are nice and rich in detail.
@Michael
it wasn't a bad trailer
@Gizmo
it does, love all the animals and nature in it
My first reaction was Snow White will be cool and Island will be lame. After watching the trailer I completely switched opinions. While I love my fairy tales dark it just looks confusing. Mysterious Island on the other hand looks pretty good. The Rock is a surprisingly good family actor.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you, Maurice, that Rock is such a nice family actor. And I hate when evil fanboys mock him for such a beautiful thing :(
