FUTURE COMES "IN TIME"
Visually beautiful sf thriller IN TIME is set in the not-too-distant future where the aging gene has been switched off. To avoid over population, time has become the currency and the way people pay for luxuries and necessities. The rich can live forever, while the rest try to negotiate for their immortality. Justin Timberlake plays a poor young man accused of murder when he inherits a fortune of time from a dead upper old class man. He is forced to go on the run from a corrupt FBI-like police force known as the 'Timekeepers', as well as from a hoodlum-like middle-aged Mob called the 'Minutemen', led by a senior citizen named Fortis, who is 75 years old. Amanda Seyfried plays a rich girl Timberlake takes as a hostage during his run. Olivia Wilde and MAD MEN's Vincent Kartheiser play Timberlake's young looking parents, while Cillian Murphy plays the agent who tries to catch Timberlake. The cast also includes two stunning boys Alex Pettyfer and Matt Bomer.
IN TIME TIDBITS
The director of the film is Andrew Niccol famous for his highly stylized sf films GATTACA, SIMONE and THE TRUMAN SHOW.
The original title for the film was I'M.MORTAL. It is not known why did the producers opted for the less interesting new title. Justin Timberlake is older in real life than Olivia Wilde who plays his mother. The tagline of the film is "Live forever or die trying"! The music in the film is composed by amazing Craig Armstrong known for his musical masterpieces in MOULIN ROUGE, ELIZABETH GOLDEN AGE, LOVE ACTUALLY, THE QUIET AMERICAN and ROMEO AND JULIETTE.

PAST IS "ANONYMOUS"
Set in the political snake-pit of Elizabethan England, ANONYMOUS speculates on an issue that has for centuries intrigued academics and brilliant minds ranging from Mark Twainand Charles Dickens to Henry James and Sigmund Freud, namely: who was the author of the plays credited to William Shakespeare? Experts have debated, books have been written, and scholars have devoted their lives to protecting or debunking theories surrounding the authorship of the most renowned works in English literature. ANONYMOUS poses one possible answer, focusing on a time when cloak-and-dagger political intrigue, illicit romances in the Royal Court, and the schemes of greedy nobles hungry for the power of the throne were exposed in
the most unlikely of places: the London stage. Set against the backdrop of the succession of Queen Elizabeth I, and the Essex Rebellion against her, ANONYMOUS brings the theory that it was Edward De Vere, Earl of Oxford who penned Shakespeare's plays.
ANONYMOUS TIDBITS
The cast of the film is lead by Rhys Ifans in the lead role, Vanessa Redgrave as Queen Elizabeth and David Thewlis. William Shakespeare is played by young Rafe Spall, while his rival Christopher Marlowe is played by Trystan Gravelle. Joely Richardson plays young Queen Elizabeth. The film is directed by Roland Emmerich who is taking a break from his usual sf blockbusters (INDEPENDENCE DAY, STARGATE, THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW. Legendary sir Derek Jacobi will lend his equally legendary voice in the prologue of the film.
I'm looking forward to "Anonymous"!
ReplyDeleteTwo great films to highlight today, Dezzy. Looking forward to both of them, though one maybe a little more than the other. :)
ReplyDeleteWaiting, waiting, waiting...
@Debra
ReplyDeleteme too :) Loved the trailers they've released so far for it
@Luanne
yep, and we're done with spotlighting October films :) Next week probably UPCOMING STARS spotlight and then in October we're moving on to November films :)
Dezzy - IN TIME has JT in it and it looks like a great story. I'm there.
ReplyDeleteAs you already know i am looking forward to In Time. Anonymous still seems a bit silly to me, but if it gets god buzz i might give it a chance
ReplyDeleteLove both of the trailers. Especially looking forward to Anonymous.
ReplyDeleteI personally cannot wait to see both films. They both look highly entertaining and the casts are gorgeous. Thanks for the wonderful spotlight,Dez. And I agree the I'M.MORTAL title would have been more interesting.
ReplyDeleteThat was supposed to be "good buzz". Damm typo
ReplyDeleteapropos of "in time", this article gave me quite a chuckle: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/4003063.stm?ls
ReplyDeleteBoth movies look pretty good though "Anonymous" makes me think of something else.
ReplyDeleteI’m on board with the idea of seeing excessive showman Roland Emmerich turn his attention to the recreation of this particular era in history :)
ReplyDeleteAnonymous looks great.looking forward to it.
ReplyDeletehehehe, what do you think of this poster> http://novroz.tumblr.com/post/9497339161/solopisces-yeah-its-fake-i-made-it-because ;)
Hmm the link doesn't look good,I attache it to my nickname now
ReplyDeleteIn Time has a really intriguing premise but I'm not thrilled about the cast. It reminds me a little of Gattica.
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of Timberlake's am I - (speaking "Yoda" today I will)
ReplyDeleteOkay...after that little "Yoda" outburst, I think I'm me again...anything JT makes me go crazy...but when I came upon Anonymous my sanity was restored! Thank goodness!
I'm a fan of period pieces (particularly Olde World England) and this movie sounds intriguing - I will definitely be seeing this one.
And...the cast selection gets two thumbs up from the Pearson Report team (that would be me, myself and I).
Cheers, Jenny
@Shells
ReplyDeleteyep, we do love us Justin Timberlake and everything he does!
@Dirty
I'm not sure it will receive good buzz since it's a type of film evil fanboys like to trash even before they see it :(
@Clarissa
glad you like both trailers, Clarissa!
@Melsy
ReplyDeleteglad you liked both spotlights, Melsy and I was also shocked when they decided to change I'M.MORTAL. It was such an amazing and clever title!
@Edmund
that geneticist doesn't look trustworthy to me :)
@DWei
something naughty I hope :)
@Jaccsy
ReplyDeleteI know you like that movie too, Jaccsy :)
@Novia
I didn't see that one, if I had it while making this spotlight, I would've put it into the post :)
@Dan
you didn't like GATTACA? I will love that movie forever, because, even though I don't like Uma nor Ethan, it was a film which gave us amazing Jude Law :)
@Jenny
ReplyDeleteoh, great Yoda, the force obviously isn't with you these days :P Don't you know it's forbidden not to love Justy Timberlake at HOLLYWOOD SPY :) I love everything he does :)
I think it's not just you, yourself and thou who will enjoy ANONYMOUS, methinks it will score well with all the fellow writers :)
Not batting one hundred, am I...yikes...first bad "dinner" pics now not loving JT...well, Dezz...isn't there something about opposite attraction, hmm...
ReplyDeleteYou just gotta love a rogue woman...walking on hot coals, wielding her hammer...there's a movie in there somewhere that you will just love!
Smiles,
Jenny
IN TIME looks creepy good!!
ReplyDelete@Jenny
ReplyDeletehe he ... oh, mistress Yoda, don't be sad :P
And I totally didn't get the second passage, but maybe it was supposed to be like that :)
How are MAx and Shelley doing?
@Liz
glad you like it, Liz :)
In time = should be real life ;)
ReplyDeleteif you u had enough money to buy all the time in the world :)
ReplyDeleteMax and Shelley are making my mornings quite exciting...I'm on the home stretch...scuba diving for lost treasure.
ReplyDeleteIt makes me excited about my own scuba classes in October (Miss Mermaid needs PADI certification for some of her work...and since I play at being her photographer...well, you guessed it - I'm donning the rubber and going for the underwater gold).
As to the second passage...that's me and my life; it has the makings of an excellent movie...one day...one day!
I'll have to think about who will play me; it's a tough call - needs much deliberation and thought - I'm open to your suggestions, since you're in the know of who's a tough, rough, fire eating, action flick chick!
Back to my book...today I've decided to finish it...the suspense is mounting and my laundry is piling up!
Cheers, Jenny
ooh, I'm sure you'll enjoy it, Jenny! If you gave birth to a mermaid you must love some water yourself :) I wonder if Dad was MR.Neptun himself or was it Poseidon? :P
ReplyDeletelooking forward to anonymous!
ReplyDeleteglad to hear that, Vics :)
