THE MASTER OF MOSCOW SAGA
After the fantasy movies yesterday, I owe you two period set projects from Russia today. Already airing on Rossiya 1 broadcaster to mark
the 879th anniversary of the capital is 12 part historical saga THE MASTER OF MOSCOW (Хозяин Москвы) depicting the fate of people against the background of the greatest catastrophe of the XIX century. The series covers the period from 1811 to 1823 - from peaceful life on the eve of the Patriotic War of 1812 to the restoration of the burned capital. Three families – the nobles of Lebedev, the merchants of the Klykovs and the serfs of Nikishina – are on the verge of changes that will forever change their lives. They will have to go through war, fire, destruction of hope and revival from the ashes. Check out the lavish trailer below and tell us what you think, would you watch it?

THE KULIKOVO BATTLE EPIC TV SERIES
We also have first images from ambitious Russian historical series KULIKOVO BATTLE (Поле Куликово) which will show us duty, love and fate of people who were at the center of one of the greatest battles in the history of Russia. The main roles are played by Igor Stepashin and Serbian
actress Tina Stojilkovic next to Anton Rogachev, Anna Bogomolov, Andrey Maximov, Kirill Käro, Ivan Fomino. The story follows Prince Mikhail who in the confrontation with Mamay, the leader of the Golden Horde, loses everything: the family, love and the meaning of life. In desperate
search for retribution, he finds his true duty in helping in the unification of Russia. The audience can expect a drama about human courage, which has reached its climax in one of the greatest battles in history. The emotional center of the project will be the story of Michael and Olga, the wife of his dead
brother. Having experienced the loss of loved ones, the captivity and the destruction of the native city, the heroes will have to pass through heavy tests and find in their grief the power to live further. The series will air on Kion online cinema.

Don't think we would ever get to watch any Russian films or series in the near future..

DeleteTwelve episodes do not bother me here, Dezmond. With three families and all those years to cover, they will probably need them. My only doubt is whether the characters will be strong enough or whether they have spent the entire budget setting Moscow on fire. Yes, I would watch it. But send me a family tree first, because by the third episode I may be calling everyone by the wrong name.
ReplyDeleteI would watch the second one too. I only hope they allow Mikhail to be more than an angry man with a sword, because those heroes become tiresome very quickly. Olga may be the one who makes the story work.
We do ever so love rich Russian families like in their timeless classics, so I expect this one will be like that.
DeleteI do ever so love the story of The Kulikovo Battle, I even had it in some sagas I translated here for the readers in my country, in Russian national spirit and memory it has the same role as The Kosovo Battle here which happened just a few years later and both saw Russians and Serbs stop the enemy invasion of Europe. And yet both countries were never thanked for it, on contrary, even though the picture of Europe would have looked totally different today if those two nations did not stop Mongols and Muslims from invading Europe. Today, Europe sees their saviours as enemies and villains.
