SHANE WEST TO LEAD
'SALEM' HISTORICAL SHOW
In television news this Monday, LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMAN and NIKITA star Shane West has scored the lead male role in WGN America's new historical show SALEM! Set in the volatile world of 17th century Massachusetts, the drama explores what really fuelled the town’s infamous witch trials and centres on Mary Sibley (Janet Montgomery), the beautiful, ruthless but vulnerable wife of the ancient, ailing but very wealthy town Selectmen. Shane West will play a man, who after 10 years of war and captivity at the hands of the Indians, returns to his native Salem to find it consumed in Witch Hunt frenzy, led by Cotton Mather (Seth Gabel). He also has a history with Mary Sibley.
VINNIE JONES IN 'GALAVANT' HISTORICAL MUSICAL
Meanwhile, another historical show has the first cast member: ABC's historical fantasy musical show GALAVANT, which will follow handsome Prince Galavant and his quest for revenge over the king who stole his one true love, will see Vinnie Jones playing Gareth, King Galahad’s badass, scary Scottish henchman.

THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME
THEO JAMES JOINS DIANE KEATON AND AMANDA SEYFRIED
And another huge ensemble cast will be seen in new drama THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME which has just added young hunk Theo James to the cast which already includes Diane Keaton, Amanda Seyfried, Alan Arkin, and Annette Bening. The movie will follow a married couple, played by Keaton and Arkin, who have lost the love spark after many years of marriage. But when they reveal to their family over Christmas that they intend to divorce, the turmoil and emotion evoked make them begin to question their decision. It is interesting that Seyfried already worked with Keaton in recent family comedy THE BIG WEDDING in which she played her and Robert De Niro's soon to be daughter in law.
I'd love to see The Most Wonderful Time because it has a Christmas setting ;-)
ReplyDeleteI'd watch anything with a Christmas setting too :) Unless it's Bad Santa or such things :)
DeleteWill THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME be a Comedy-Drama?
ReplyDeletethat is what puzzles me too, Dave!
DeleteGood morning, Dez. What looks good to you?
ReplyDeleteGood morning :) Although it's late evening here in Central Europe :) I'm anxious about GALAVANT. I do adore me historical shows
DeleteI like Jason Bateman in just about anything. But how on earth can you have a Horrible Bosses 2? It just didn't seem like a story that could easily fit a sequel.
ReplyDeletethey will have some of the new bosses, and some of the old are coming back, presumably being even more horrible :)
Delete"The Family Fang" sounds intriguing.
ReplyDeletecould be quite interesting, we all carry so much baggage given from our parents :)
DeleteJason Bateman has really grown on me, or maybe I just watched him grow up. Either way, I like him much more now than I did when he was a snot nosed little kid.
ReplyDeletehe was a celebrity kid? I didn't know that. I only remember his sister from that ancient sitcom from before Dezzy was born :)
DeleteYes silly, he was on Silver Spoons and The Hogan Family and got his start on Little House on the Prairie. Guess it pays to be old as dirt for some worthless trivia.
Deleteoh, my, LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE played in my country when I was a baby, I remember that it was a huge hit among the audiences....
DeleteWell, today I know the first two names. Suppose that's better than I normally do.
ReplyDeleteoh, tomorrow you will know nobody's name :) We're having a day with totally new names....
DeleteThat's pretty funny, Dezmond.
Deleteindeed it is, I should have my own sitcom... indeed I should...
DeleteWe shall have Hobbit posters too, but there's a slight chance you don't know who hobbitses are either :)
The Most Wonderful Time sounds kind of interesting.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Sherry, I love ensemble movies
Deleteintrigued for vinnie to sing...
ReplyDeletemaybe he'll even do a twirl in his kilt :)
DeleteA new historical fiction TV show. Awesome!
ReplyDeletewe do love those
DeleteI will probably see all of these! I love Annette Bening (and always have). Thanks!
ReplyDeleteglad you liked today's news, Pat!
DeleteI loved Shane West in A Walk to Remember. I'll definitely have to catch Salem now!
ReplyDeletehe certainly added an interesting factor to SALEM now :)
DeleteCan't wait to see Salem. I've always been fascinated with that time in American history.
ReplyDeletenot very much different from today, you still have tones of witchhunt but in different shapes :(
