SETH GABEL JOINS 'SALEM'
17TH CENTURY NEW SERIES
Only last week I informed you that WGN is preparing their first scripted series, historical drama SALEM, and that Ashley Madekwe will play one of the witches in it, and now 'Deadline 'reports that Seth Gabel has also joined the show playing Cotton Mather, a local aristocrat who makes it his business to oversee the witch hunts in Salem. Set in the volatile world of 17th century Massachusetts, the story will explore what really fuelled the town’s infamous witch trials uncovering the dark, supernatural truth hiding behind the veil of this infamous period in American history. The show, which centres on an epic romance, is said to deliver a new vision of witches who are real though they are not who or what they seem.
ABC 'EXCALIBUR' TV SHOW
Meanwhile, ABC has ordered EXCALIBUR show pilot about a young modern day Brooklyn man who is forever changed when his life is saved by a beautiful stranger who reveals that he is the last living descendant of the very real King Arthur and that he is now at the centre of an eons-old shadow war between the descendants of the Knights of the Roundtable and the forces of dark magic.

'BLACK SAILS' EPIC SHOW
GETS AN EXCITING NEW TRAILER!
After yesterday's trailer for the second season of DA VINCI'S DEMONS, here is a new trailer for an epic show which will air before it starting this January at Starz: BLACK SAILS, which was renewed for a second season almost half a year before the first one even starts to air! The pirate action adventure will star Toby Stephens and MERLIN knight Tom Hopper, chronicling the adventures of fabled buccaneer Captain Flint! Toby Stephens plays Captain Flint, while Tom Hopper will play Billy Bones, the first mate of The Walrus who is caught in the middle of the power struggle between Flint and his main dissenter Singleton! Threatened with extinction on all sides, the pirates fight for the survival of New Providence Island, the most notorious criminal haven of its day – a debauched paradise teeming with pirates, prostitutes, thieves and fortune seekers, a place defined by both its enlightened ideals and its stunning brutality. Jessica Parker Kennedy, Hannah New, Luke Arnold and Zach McGowan are on board too!
I always loved Treasure Island as a kid. It will be interesting to see this prequel.
ReplyDeleteI only wish it was a bit more glamorous, since I'm a bit sick of gory and dark shows, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
DeleteI'm the only one on the face of the planet who thinks Emma Stone is a dude. With that husky voice, overbite and masculine mannerisms Emma is a dude in a dress.
ReplyDeleteshe could be, but a lovely dude for sure :)
Delete"Adorkable"? Hahahahaha! Perfect adjective for Jay Baruchel (love him)!
ReplyDeleteisn't he just? That is our fave type in which they're produced :)
DeleteGood Black Sails trailer, definitely going to be worth a look.
ReplyDeletehope it doesn't disappoint next year, Fran
DeleteI adore Emma Stone! I think she is a lovely lady and a talented actress.
ReplyDeleteshe is cute, haven't seen her much on the big screen so I can't speak about her acting.
DeleteThat Black Sail is truly epic in theme & casting ~
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update Dezz ~ Just wanted to also let you know of my new URL (I changed it and didn't realize the consequences but the link now takes time to load) ~ Happy Tuesday ~
Thanks for the info, Grace, hope the link won't give you too much trouble later on.
DeleteBlack Sails looks fantastic - here's hoping it's worth the wait.
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed, Bob!
DeleteOh no, I love Emma's voice! I think it rounds out the whole package. I have loved her in everything I have seen her in so far!
ReplyDeleteshe is very perdy
DeleteIs Johnny Depp going to make an appearance in Black Sails? He's a pirate, you know!
ReplyDeletehe really thinks he is :)
DeleteBlack Sails does look good. And I'm sort of interested in that Salem story too. I'll have to try to remember to watch.
ReplyDeletewe shall remind you when the time comes :)
DeleteMy first choice would be Salem. I love a witchy historical mystery :)
ReplyDeletehope it won't be too scary for us kids :)
DeleteLots to choose from. What's your pick, Dez?
ReplyDeleteWell, since HOLLYWOOD SPY is one of web's leading sites on historical projects, I will give BLACK SAILS a go, but I don't like the trailer, since I wanted something more glamorous and less gritty
DeleteBlack Sails and Salem look awesome.
ReplyDeleteEmma Stone is so pretty.
especially in that red dress :)
DeleteI can't wait to see Emma in Spider-man 2
ReplyDeleteI don't watch Spiderman ever since they gave the role to that mediocre actor
DeleteI like the look of Black Sails :-)
ReplyDeletehope it's good when it sails into the small screens this January :)
DeleteI hope we get the chance to see Black Sails over here to! Looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteGreetings
Peter
fingers crossed, Peter
