STUNNING TRAILER FOR MEXICAN EPIC "CRISTIADA" WITH ANDY GARCIA, PETER O'TOOLE & EVA LONGORIA! RYAN REYNOLDS IS "TURBO" SNAIL! SAM CLAFLIN JOINS JULIANNE MOORE & JEFF BRIDGES IN "THE SEVENTH SON" SAGA
Two weeks ago HOLLYWOOD SPY has informed you that the new fantasy adventure called THE SEVENTH SON is being planned at Warner Bros based on THE LAST APPRENTICE saga which follows Thomas, seventh son of a seventh son, who is apprenticed
to the local Spook, whose job is to fight evil spirits and witches, so he expects a life of danger. However, the boy doesn't realize just how soon he'll face a powerful enemy alone, as an evil witch escapes her confinement while the Spook is away. Thomas is forced to use his wits, and the help of his enigmatic new friend, Alice, to fight the evil witch. As you know Jeff Bridges will play the old Spook, and Julianne Moore will be the evil witch, but now there are news that Sam Claflin (my favourite among young British actors) has taken the lead role. We've seen talented Brit Claflin in PILLARS OF THE EARTH and we shall watch him in PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN ON STRANGER TIDES.
SHORT HEADLINES Terry Gilliam's sf adventure TIME BANDITS from the 80's could get a remake. There's a plan about a whole franchise based on the story about a kid who travels through time with some crazy bunch of dwarfs. It's interesting that the remake will be aimed for young audience unlike the original. *The latest addition to THE HOBBIT cast could be Bret McKenzie. Apparently Peter Jackson wants him back as the elf Figwit from the LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy. *Ryan Reynolds will give his voice to the main hero in DreamWorks' TURBO, a crazy animated film about an ordinary garden snail with an impossible dream: to become the fastest snail in the world :)

Bruce Greenwood, Nestor Carbonell, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Eduardo Verastegui... According to "FirstShowing" this stunning and touching epic drama focuses on the Cristeros War from the 1920's which started after a rebellion over the Mexican government's 1917 attempt to remove the influence of the Catholic Church and secularize the country. The film is directed by Dean Wright (in his directorial debut, he is known as a visual effects expert who worked on LORD OF THE RINGS and CHRONICLES OF NARNIA) and the music is composed by the best among the best - James Horner (TITANIC, AVATAR)!

The Seventh Son based on The Last Apprentice sounds great. Julianne Moore as a witch? Cool.
ReplyDeleteit is quite an unusual casting with Bridges and Moore, but it does sound superb :) especially if the young Claflin gets the role :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of Sam Claflin before, but I should pay more attention to him :) Oooh I adore Eduardo Verastegui, he's not only gorgeous on the outside but also in the inside. I've seen some of his interviews for his movie Bella and it's rare to see someone like that in the entertainment biz. I'd definitely watch this 'Cristiada.'

ReplyDeleteEduardo does seem like a nice fellow, did you know that rumor has it that he is Ricky Martin's boyfriend? :) Here in Europe he is mostly known for his roles in Latin Soap Operas.

Wow, what a horrible war between the government and the Catholics. I like movies based on real life but I find them more disturbing.

ReplyDeleteI loved Time Bandits as a kid. But it always totally freaked me out the way it ended. No credits, nothing. Just black screen. I'd be down with a remake though.

The Seventh Son just keeps sounding better and better! i'm not familiar with claflin- my hubs keeps saying i need to watch the pillars of earth- but i want to see it when i actually have time to pay attention, instead of out of the corner of my eye, like i watch most things! :)

ReplyDeletePILLARS were probably the weakest of the recent historical shows, but they were still quite enjoyable and nice. They had some great performances and some really bad ones, and maybe a bit of the weak plot.

it does sound adorable. And CRISTIADA trailer really is amazing, it will surely be a great epic drama.
It'll be odd seeing Bret McKenzie coming back after seeing him in Flight of the Conchords. Bring in Jermaine Clemens in as a dwarf to sweeten the deal :P I'm not sure if a TIme Bandits remake would be the best of ideas, but I'd likely watch it anyways.
