NEW TV SERIES FROM CHANNEL 5

This one somehow escaped my radar, but new four part thriller mini series THE NIGHT CALLER will start on Channel 5 on Sunday July 7th and will air each evening till Wednesday. If I got it right it is already available over on Acorn TV channel on Prime Video.

  THE NIGHT CALLER FOLLOWS  

Tony (Robert Glenister), a 50-something, lonely Liverpudlian taxi driver who used to be a respected teacher but lost his job, his marriage and his confidence. His only lifelines are Rosa (Suzanne Packer), a café worker, and a late-night talk show he listens to as he drives his customers around. The show is fronted by DJ Lawrence (Sean Pertwee) and one day Tony finds the courage to call in. He becomes a ‘friend of the show’ which gives him a sense of identity for the first time in years. But eventually he starts to interpret Lawrence’s views in dangerous ways and becomes obsessed with their relationship. Then, Tony realises Lawrence isn’t the man he pretends to be.

Disney Plus has released first trailer for their exciting new  RIVALS eight part series set against the backdrop of the excess and antics of the power-grabbing social elite of 1980s England and delving into the ruthless world of independent television in 1986. The series, which will stream on Hulu in USA and Disney around the world, will arrive this Autumn.

 

In the fictional county of Rutshire, along-standing rivalry between two powerful men is about to boil over. She soon finds herself caught between the two powerful men who deeply underestimate her at their peril. Katherine Parkinson is Lizzie Vereker, a romantic novelist consistently overlooked by her preening and self-centred TV presenter husband, James Vereker (Oliver Chris). Danny Dyer is Freddie Jones: honourable, loyal and lovable, he’s a self-made electronics millionaire. Freddie's got the money, but finds himself, along with his social-climbing wife Valerie (Lisa McGrillis), an outsider to Rutshires cliques. But when Rupert and Tony come to him with a business proposition, all that could change. Claire Rushbrook is Lady Monica Baddingham, Tonys dependable, upper-crust wife who has absolutely no interest in the dramatic goings-on within her husbands empire. Luke Pasqualino is the charming Basil Bas Baddingham, Tonys younger brother and the proprietor of Cotchesters hot spot, Bar Sinister. Emily Atack is Sarah Stratton, the new wife to Deputy Prime Minister, Paul Stratton (Rufus Jones). Sarah is ambitious and not afraid to use her looks to get to the top. Paul, on the other hand, is in the throes of a midlife crisis – everyone knows it.

When a fire tears through a property in a scenic Lancashire lake town, Detective Ember Manning (Jenna Coleman) must work out how it connects to a podcast journalist investigating a missing persons cold case and an illicit relationship between a man in his twenties and two underage girls. But as Ember gets close to the truth, it threatens to destroy her life – forcing her to re-evaluate everything she thought she knew about her past, present and the town she’s always called home. We haven't seen him much on British television but Andrew Lincoln is set to lead new ITV series COLD WATER as John, a repressed man who who is shocked to find himself in middle age, secretly raging at his life as a stay-at-home dad. He moves to a backwater Scottish village and strikes up a friendship with next door neighbor Tommy (Ewen Bremner), who is despised by his wife Fiona (Indira Varma). When her husband’s relationship with their enigmatic new neighbour becomes increasingly intense, Fiona’s suspicions are aroused. She is unconvinced Tommy is all he seems to be.  Eve Myles will also star in the new drama.

This one will be hitting small screens in Russia sometime later this year, but we have first images from THE LAST KNIGHT: LEGACY series. The whole franchise of movies started back in 2017 and is now being turned into a series for television as well. The lead roles are played by Victor Khorinyak, Arina Rozhkova, Evelina Mazurina, Kirill Zaytsev and Yulia Peresild. The last two also appear in the separate film Finist, as legendary hero Finist and Baba Yaga, which will hit big screens in January as a spin off of the film saga and should not be mixed up with this TV series which will air on Start streamer.

THE EIGHT EPISODE TV SERIES
 takes place 20 years after the three previous parts of the movie franchise. Now 50-year-old Ivan (Viktor Khorinyak) lives in Belogorye with his family - wife Vasilisa (Alexandra Ursulyak) and two daughters, Marya (Arina Rozhkova) and young sorceress Sophia (Evelina Mazurina). A calm life in a fairy-tale country is disturbed by the sudden visit of the sorcerer Severin (Alexander Ustyugov) - the magician warns the heroes of the terrible disaster that should soon happen to them. Ivan's daughters will have to protect both realities from danger. While Mary will fight the evil in Belogorye, Sofia will go to the past - in Moscow in 2017, she will need to find a young Ivan who knows nothing about his magical roots. In order not to cause unnecessary suspicion, the young wizard will have to pretend to be an ordinary schoolgirl and go to the 11th grade of the Moscow school.

Eric Bana plays Kyle Turner, a special agent for the National Parks Service who works to enforce human law in nature’s vast wilderness. The investigation of a brutal death sends Turner on a collision course with the dark secrets within the park, and in his own past. Neill will play Paul Souter who has been the chief park ranger in Yosemite for half his life. He’s a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend to Turner. He’s comfortable in all facets of his job, whether it’s dealing with crime inside the park or with the bureaucracy around it. Rosemarie DeWitt will play Turner's ex wife.

Runt arrives this September

We have the first trailer coming from Down Under for new family movie RUNT which stars two of our favourite Australian hunks Jai Courtney and Joel Jackson! Based on Craig Silvey’s book it follows 11-year-old Annie Shearer (Lily La Torre) and her best friend, an adopted stray dog called Runt, who try to save their family farm in the fictional country town of Upson Downs by competing in the Agility Course Grand Championships at the prestigious Krumpets Dog Show in London. Annie lives on the struggling sheep farm with her parents Bryan (Jai Courtney) and Susie (Celeste Barber). Joel will play a constable. Studiocanal is releasing the movie from September 19th!

It was one of the most tragic loves and now it is getting a series: Russian mini series NATALIE AND ALEXANDER (Натали и Александр), which will air sometime this year on their national broadcaster, has finished shooting its twelve episodes. In the series that depicts the love between Natalia Goncharova and Alexander Pushkin Ksenia Tragestand and Alexander Zacharin play the title roles. Check out the trailer below.

THE MAIN CHARACTER OF THIS STORY

 is the wife, mother, muse, high society diva Natalia Nikolaevna Goncharova. Like every girl, she dreamed of simple human happiness, but life puzzled her to be the wife and the muse of the genius. The series tells the story of the life and death of Alexander Pushkin from the early 1830s to 1837.
