We are launching new week with a World War II epic movie coming from Germany which will hit USA cinemas November 22nd right for Thanksgiving.
BONHOEFFER, both written and directed by Todd Komarnicki, has the story set in Berlin during the Third Reich, and examining Dietrich Bonhoeffer's determination to live his life with uncompromising political and spiritual courage, while speaking truth to power, in his attempt to save countless Jewish lives. When a pacifist is called to a political act that could change the course of history, how will a man of honor respond? I look forward to watching this! We are starting a Spanish series Money Heist yesterday...still not sure about it though.

DeleteI checked the cast and was surprised that the most important woman in his life, his fiancee Maria, is not included in this film. There is another biopic planned for 2025 that hopefully may correct that error.

DeleteThat’s because of the actor’s looks. Meet her later? Where? In Heaven? The movie ends with his execution. I’m afraid her absence has to do with Angel Studios falling pray to PC rules. Maria was 18 when they became engaged, and Bonhoeffer was 18 years her senior. Rather normal for the times, but anatema today. She played an important part in the creation of his legend as depository of his letters during imprisonment.
DeleteMaybe they did not have space to include da romance if the plot is too full with his work against da Nazies, so they excluded her. On the other hand, maybe she is in the film, just not in da trailer?

DeleteI tried to comment before, Dezmond but Blogger was not "playing nice". I observed how sad it was this gentleman was executed just shy of a month before Germany surrendered
ReplyDeleteYes, so many died even after the Nazis surrendered while they were retreating. And the vacuum in the freed countries was dangerous in its own. In my country we had Germans retreating, Ruskies coming from the North and our Partisans from the south, imagine the lawlessness in that period.
