We have a delightful first teaser for probably the most anticipated new family fairy tale adventure movie coming from Russia - FINIST: THE FIRST WARRIOR (Финист. Первый богатырь) in which our favourite of all mighty Russian hunksters, the blond grand prince himself Kirill Zaytsev is to return to the role of legendary Russian hero Sokol Finist! This epic movie adventure which is set to arrive in Russian cinemas January 2025 also starring Yulia Peresild, the first actress ever to shoot a film up in space, is basically a spin off or continuation of Russia's most popular epic saga The First Warrior, which had four ultra successful sequels previous years and will now focus on the first one among them all, Sokol Finist, from whom all legends and fairy tales begin and start.

 

  FINIST YASNIY SOKOL

 is the most famous hero of Belogorye, the strongest, most dexterous and most deserving. Well, and the most beautiful, of course. All other heroes look up to him, children want to be like him, and girls can't stop looking at him. And who could blame them? Finist is a real superstar. And he carefully protects and maintains this status. He needs more and more feats, he is simply obsessed with them. But there is a nuance. The practical benefit of the feat for Finist is no longer of decisive importance. Let's say, freeing a village from a herd of wild boars that tramples down crops is boring, uninteresting, futile: they won't spread tales about it, they won't admire it. But going to the end of the world, where Beauty is imprisoned in a tower, guarded by an unimaginable Beast, now that is a challenge.

 

 A GORGEOUS BABA YAGA

Beside our boo Kirill the Breathtaking, the cast also includes Russia's most beautiful female star Yulia Peresild who plays probably the most gorgeous Baba Yaga we have ever seen, with Fedor Dobronravov also in the ensemble alongside always funny Sergei Lavigin as Finist's assistant and right hand, albeit a very clumsy one, Meleha, and wildly handsome Fedor Gamaleya as some kind of Arabian or Persian prince or knight at least judging by the photos of him under a turban. Before this one arrives to the cinemas, TV Russia will also air, sometime later this year, an eight part television series THE LAST WARRIOR: LEGACY which is also set in the same world with Finist also taking part in the story. As If reports, Wondership Entertainment's first project is now in development.

It all starts the first weekend of June, when we will be awarded and treated with a new movie from fan favourite Andrew Walker. Saturday June 1st will bring the premiere of his new love melodrama FOR LOVE AND HONEY. This film will see Margaret Clunie playing the role of Beekeeper Eva  who uncovers an ancient fresco while rescuing a hive. Andrew Walker plays Austen, a visiting archeologist, who thinks it is key to his research, so he persuades Eva to help him on his quest across Malta.

 

SAVORING PARIS

The weekend after that is taking us from Malta over to France, or their capital city Paris to be precise. What better place for some unexpected romance? Variety has got their hands on the first images from Sergiu Celibidache biopic THE YELLOW TIE in which John Malkovich plays the famous Romanian conductor. The movie, offered to buyers in Cannes currently, spans seven decades of his life with Sean Bean, Ben Schnetzer, Charlie Rowe, Miranda Richardson and Anton Lesser also in the cast.

Netflix has unveiled Tobias Santelmann and Joel Kinnaman as leads in their TV series adaptation of Jo Nesbo's HARRY HOLE a whodunnit serial killer mystery led by famed anti-hero Harry Hole (Santelmann). Under the surface, it is a character drama about two police officers, and supposed colleagues, operating on opposite sides of the law. Throughout the first season, Harry goes head-to-head with his long time adversary and corrupt detective Tom Waaler (Kinnaman). Harry is a brilliant but tormented homicide detective who struggles with his demons. As the two navigate the blurred ethical lines of the criminal justice system, Harry must do all he can to catch a serial killer and bring Waaler to justice before it is too late. The series will stream in 2026.

The latest royal TV series announced comes from writer Morrie Rosmarin who is preparing THE LAST SHAH series which will span four decades beginning during World War II, when the young monarch, Reza Pahlavi, ascended to the throne of Iran, and ending in 1979 with the Islamic Revolution. It will be given through the eye of his third wife Farah who married the Shah in 1959 clad in a dazzling Dior gown embroidered with silver thread and pearls, designed by Yves Saint Laurent. This ultimately tragic story of a wife, mother and queen trying to save her husband, the Shah of Iran, her family, her dynasty, and her homeland will be told from the point of view of Empress Farah Pahlavi. It will depict an epic struggle for the survival of Iran’s monarchy at the crossroads of the modern world. The characters are interwoven into a compelling saga of personal relations, family crises, palace intrigue, religious upheaval and machinations of Shakespearean proportions, all set against the powder keg of a brewing revolution that will change the course of history.
