 THE FINAL CHAPTER
Around the year 1760, Francis Stephen (Vojtech Kotek) is Roman-German Emperor and co-ruler to Maria Theresa (Ursula Strauss). But she runs the affairs of state largely alone, and with a strong hand. Political marriages are meant to secure the Habsburg Empire. Love plays no role in this: Her many children have to submit to her will. Disappointed, Francis Stephen increasingly retreats to Hof Palace. While

  1. And I'm still waiting for PBS Masterpiece to show it. They promised it!

    1. It did not air on their Amazon channel or on MHZ Choice? I saw the first season on YouTube and then never wanted to see the second one when I saw the casting LOL This lady in the third season looks even more ridiculous than the fat miss in the second one LOL

    2. I agree with Theresa, those wigs are embarrassing. PBS masterpiece (in Amazon) offered it in 2019, but it never got to its menu, and MHz does not carry it in its archives. Perhaps it is for the best.

    3. You will get to see it one day, hopefully. I'm itching to see Sisi and cannot find it anywhere, there are just French torrents without subs :(

    4. You are magical, I swear! I went to check the 'recently added"(only this week) in PBS Masterpiece and there was The Empress. Only the first season, though

    5. 'tis because PBS probably reads Hollywood Spy, world's leading place for all things period set, and plans their programme accordingly LOOOL I know that Beta Film reads me often and also Epic Drama Channel, beside the occasional celeb :) Just last night we had retweets from a number of British actors and the director of that comedy I wrote about with Russell Tovey.

    6. Oh, Oh! I am honored to be a Spyling. Are they actually reading? Ohhh, I want to write them a Santa-like letter. Dear PBS Masterpiece, could you please bring (soon, soon) Ku ’Damm 63 and Madame K’s second season… Honest, I have been reading Hollywood Spy for a long time, but making it my permanent abode was one of 2021 ‘s highlights.

    7. And we thank you for becoming our regular visitor, supporter and for leaving meaningful comments. They do read us often, I should transfer the blog onto a separate website instead of Blogger and that would increase number of visitors drastically, but I've no time, energy nor enough cyber knowledge for that. And being small probably saves us from unwanted trolls. They wouldn't like me being opinionated....

    8. Thank You, but I don’t think this blog is “small.” And you manage its publicity like a pro. Don’t move away from Blogger. It is still the one platform that ‘s almost impossible to hack. I run a small place, and like Blogger because it is friendly (although sometimes it comes up with weird s—t) and it lets me be independent and chat in an almost private atmosphere. And yes, it's perfect for opinionated cats like us.

    9. Yes, I imagine if we had a www.address all kinds of people would not like our opinions LOL

  2. Oh, boy. Those wigs are atrocious! Whoever was in charge of wardrobe should be fired.

    1. I've no idea whatsoever what they were thinking, it all looks so freaking cheap. But it does look a bit better in the trailer. The leading lady, however, looks like she could use a lifetime of good food and spa. I think I'd look better in that costume of hers than she does LOOL

    2. I didn't think it looked too much better in the trailer. Like Malena said, embarrassing! I feel like my kids have had better Halloween wigs before than what they're trying to pass off here.

    3. Like them old judges in courts with them fugly wigs LOL similar to dead rats. But even if they got better wigs I don't think Ursula has the imperial air to pull them off, she just looks like German Olivia Coleman = like a washed out cleaning lady.

  3. I starting literally laughing out loud when I saw the wigs and then laughed even harder when I read your comments. Guess I'm not the only one that couldn't see past them!
